Hey I use this mod since 1.3 and I have a quest
Cant you make teas as a drug so colonist wouldn't have to eat it as a food resource ?
Dots 20 Apr, 2024 @ 9:23pm
Thank you for putting in the work

Does this still work in 1.5?
Juicer 1 Apr, 2024 @ 2:41am
Hi Scruffy, will this be getting a 1.5 update. Love this mod.

Spiffing brit in a nutshell
Juicer 12 Aug, 2023 @ 4:31am
I have figured a way to stop the binge and allow you to control when they have Tea. You need the Pick Up and Haul mod. Disallow Tea in the food policy and have a pawn pick up the Tea. Then you can select the food bowl in the inventory and they will have tea whenever you click it. I have them carry about 30.

we should be able to substitute human meat with hemogen packs to be fair.
Wynaphine 1 Jun, 2023 @ 9:26am
I love this mod!!!!!!! The only thing that would make it better is if Tea was classified as a Drug or something because anytime my pawns get hungry they will go to Tea and just annihilate stacks to get full. I'd rather set a schedule like yayo :)
FinnGator 3 Apr, 2023 @ 9:23am
this is the best

@Scruffy Thank You~! Do update us to any progress on the addiction factors to Tea.
Scruffy  [author] 22 Nov, 2022 @ 1:02pm
Added the 1.4 tag
Legendarybunny 22 Nov, 2022 @ 5:16am
I dont mean to be rude, but i have been waiting for my tea for a long time. I will take it cold just give it to me!! :D much love, I hope you wont be busy (in a good way) soon.
AbsynthMinded 4 Nov, 2022 @ 6:59pm
The Tea Must Grow~! But also needs to not make my Pawns act like crack addicts.. Hoping for a proper 1.4,
Kamis[Fhtagn] 28 Oct, 2022 @ 1:57am
tea ftw!
Scruffy  [author] 23 Oct, 2022 @ 1:14pm
This mod is XML only. When I am not busy, I will update it. I highly doubt 1.4 would break this mod.
Calgor 14 Oct, 2022 @ 5:03am
@AbsynthMinded, there's something on base game survival meals within the Items_food.xml:

<optimalityOffsetHumanlikes>-5</optimalityOffsetHumanlikes>

I don't understand what that -5 represents in any calculation but have seen some mods use this or mention it in their updates to make some edible options more or less appealing to pawns using this by adding or subtracting from this. If it works how it sounds like it works, it would mean that your pawns would need to be manually directed to drink tea unless there were no better "meals" around and then they would go for tea as it's the only best one left.

Alternatively it may be possible to use some of the Wine drug stuff from VFE:Medieval to try and work out how to convert tea into a social drug. From reading around it, unless the drug does anything new might be able to get away with little to no C#. Don't hold me to that mind...
AbsynthMinded 12 Oct, 2022 @ 8:04pm
Any effort you put into this will be greatly appreciated.
Scruffy  [author] 12 Oct, 2022 @ 5:41pm
I'll try to edit the XML so tea works better when I update this to 1.4. Tea is currently set as a food with the same priority as a simple meal. I'd like to make it a drug so you can schedule when people drink it, but it might not be possible without C# (Which I barely know).
AbsynthMinded 12 Oct, 2022 @ 11:01am
Only fix I can think of now is adding minimum nutrition to stop the cycle.
AbsynthMinded 12 Oct, 2022 @ 10:59am
I thought I had it fixed with distance but I was mistaken they just took a day to figure out new pathing. Filtering had no effect.. This is really irritating.
AbsynthMinded 12 Oct, 2022 @ 8:08am
@Calgor Good Data. I have confirmed that when i see chuggers, their food is in the need state and if I force them to eat anything else they abandon the tea immediately.. I am contemplating 2 work around options to experiment with. Will update. One is distance, vs other food stockpiles and tables to eat on. Other is restrictions to filter out simple meals, based on your observation.
Calgor 11 Oct, 2022 @ 8:12am
@AbsynthMinded, I'm having the same problem. Colonists get through loads of the stuff and unfortunately they are not Sir Spiff and able to sustain godlike powers on it. Also means there's not much left for me to sell when I create my tea brewing empire.

Looking at the XML, and I am somewhat stumbling through, it looks like it counts as a meal, preferability as "Simple". I'm guessing when it comes to two meals of near same proximity the pathing is picking the most expensive permitted by food policy and thinking it's best for the pawn to grab, even though it has very little nutrition in it. It's got to be preferring it somehow...

Could probably try and change the nutrition value so one cup really does do the job which would reduce how many they get through?
AbsynthMinded 10 Oct, 2022 @ 3:44pm
The Tea addictions continue to plague me. However observational info suggests it's operating like this.. It's food so they eat because of hunger. Tea happens to be closer than meals and more attractive because of the bonuses. However Tea offers no nutrition so hunger remains, and is still the closest most attractive thing.. So pawns drown themselves in Tea, over and over and over.
AbsynthMinded 10 Oct, 2022 @ 11:34am
My pawns appear to chug tea by the gallons.. they are never satisfied.. Is there any possibility of mitigating the desire for tea to not trigger until a minimum recreation %?

To be clear. My pawns continue to drink Tea at full mood and full recreation..
Juicer 20 Aug, 2022 @ 2:00am
Love the mod, its Spiffing. Any way you can make the pawns only drink it every 5 days or so as mine just burn through it as soon as its made.

@gentle netch
Done. Your cook can rest easy.
Have a great day!
gentle netch 5 Apr, 2022 @ 8:48pm
This is such a spiffy mod. ;)
My colonists are completely addicted to Yorkshire Tea. So much so that I come with a request from my desperate cook -- is there any way to make a bulk recipe? My colony is larger than it should be, and the poor woman spends the whole day brewing tea...
lexis_fire 2 Nov, 2021 @ 5:59pm
A certain British youtuber! :') :') :') lmao rotfl. It's all his fault I play this game now. And all my/his fault several of my friends have joined me down this path of organ harvesting....
insertprofilenamehere 24 Oct, 2021 @ 10:24pm
imagine "Tea addiction"
just a normal day in britain
Scruffy  [author] 3 Oct, 2021 @ 9:03pm
@risenshadowz: I could, but it comes with some caveats I don't feel like dealing with right now. If you want to have tea as a drug go ahead and try another mod, but if I ever feel like it in the future I'll do it.
risingshadowz 3 Oct, 2021 @ 8:35pm
is there a way to change the tea to a drug instead of a food?
empAvatar 14 Sep, 2021 @ 10:27pm

Natsu, the blood idea would be good for wine... Then perhaps it would be a good day to die.
Natsu 21 Apr, 2021 @ 9:37pm
It would be really cool if there was a way to make Blood into Tea rather then using organs, but still a really twisted mod i love the idea behind it
tools guy-kun 15 Apr, 2021 @ 2:23pm
I see. I wasn’t complaining about the growth time of regular tea, but was rather using the growth time as a bit of support/reason of why I wanted to make “organic” tea instead. If there are no drawbacks then I’ll just make that. Thank you!
Scruffy  [author] 14 Apr, 2021 @ 9:24pm
At the moment, neither tea nor cake is addictive. They are both types of food. The plan is to make tea a drug at some point, but I don't think i will make it addictive. Real life tea takes a VERY long time to grow from my research, but I may also change it's grow time to be comparable with devilstrand.
