I would also encourage you, if you are not a fan of that particular event, to disable that in the options. The mod provides to ability to toggle each event individually as part of the settings.

The trade off is that 75% of the time not only does the player not get the card, but also gets effectively a curse, but without curse synergy as well. That comes on top of the opportunity cost of not taking the upgrade option which is one of the more powerful event options in the game. I think this makes it an interesting choice from a player perspective. The win rate of the option has also never left a range of +/- 2% from the normal win rate (so far), so balance wise it's in a very healthy state.
