So far I legit had no problem with them
The 3 AP
The freeze
The annoying sneaklings that blow up and stuff
The move everytime they get hit (I think only Sister do that?)
All good and actually fine and fun,but,can we please get some,idk,limit to how many time they can "call the nest"? Thats silly how one of them,chromedome I think,just heal each turn,freeze,tank stuff and flee around the map,and keep calling his buds the whole time,I tried to deal with him plus the normal enemies around and had to kill the snakes all day cause they keep binding,so then buckaroo over there every 3 turn just call 3 more of them,I legit had him do it 4 time in a mission.
At least limiting to 2 would be fine,but at some point either stop the auto heal or the reinforcement,he's just too boring to go against with all that.

@AranBlack (cont.) .... Well, unfortunately I just finished my LWotC campaign and none of The Children from this mod ever appeared. So I'm guessing this is not compatible with LWotC. :steamsad:

@AranBlack .... I'm currently playing a LWotC campaign using this mod and I am about 2/3rds (or maybe 3/4th) nearly complete, and I have not yet encountered any of The Children . So I can't tell if this mod is working with the new LWofC 1.1 update or not. Maybe they'll appear during the Blacksite mission or even at the final underwater alien base assault. The game has nearly 100 unique aliens in its pool to choose from so we'll see.

If I do finally encounter them, then I'll let you all know.

for anyone that is looking at trying to add these items to allow for extra weapon attachments the template names are as followed
the axe is XCOMFrostAxe
the vest is FrostScaleVest
the sniper rifle is XCOMFrostCaster
and for some reason if you need it the frost bomb is XCOMFrostBomb

I added this mid campaign, and I got all 4 and killed all 4 ! Just be aware if you use Renegade Rulers, this mod doesn't apply so all 4 Children are classified as Advent Enemies

lol so I decided to read some of the comments for my New Years fun. Love that so many feel they are over powered. Just means you’re not playing the game right. All the CX mods are meant for experienced players that love heavy modded games. You should never play these mods with standard soldiers and standard equipment.

so im guessing the difference between 2.0 and the other one is that these spawns are random if not configured otherwise. whereas the other is only in the form of sitreps limited to certain force levels.

the description doesn't mention but i assume that:

A) you disable the other mod if you have it

B) this can be installed mid campaign

the other mod's description was fairly extensive when it came to corpses and item drops. im going to assume it's about the same and corpses and items can be added with console commands if anything goes wrong. the name for each should be possible to find in the files, or i can just try to guess.

if i'm wrong about any of these tho it'd be shame it wasn't in the description for the mod.

first time writing on a mod. i enjoyed Children of the king. they are sorta a fun expnasion on the Ruler mechanic and I love their designs.

Kinda shame there is only 4. especially with the small snippet of lore for these guys, would have loved to see more Children added along with the original four but that would be up to the creators

@DrChako If you select the setup option that places rulers at facilities you will have more control over when you engage them.

Some properties need toning down at the very least. Limit Call the Nest spawns to 3 charges and no more, which would provide approx. 180-200 effective HP including regeneration. 70hp in the second month is just insane. Viper King only requires about 25 damage before he first escapes. Chosen have 25hp. This is nearly an order of magnitude greater, even when limited to 3 spawns. The only solution I see to this problem, besides HP scaling, is to trigger only after 4 months have passed. Otherwise, it is much too oppressive.

Totally unbalanced early game. Chromedome has 70hp in the 2nd month. Even with a squad size of 6, unkillable on Legendary difficulty except by some stroke of luck. Infinite pod spawns of 3-4 vipers with 8-10hp each. Over 100 effective health pool with a regenerating spawn pool of 30hp or more, especially with Viper Elites which have 15hp. Regenerates HP and heals from nearby deaths, including Lost. Cannot be frozen. Can fire 4 times in a single turn. Utterly broken.

Do not install in current state. I was only able to defeat Chromedome in a previous playthrough, which I abandoned due to RNG on the Avatar timer. This was only possible in a Lost mission, by utilizing the spawns as riot control for his Call the Nest ability. Mission also supplied 2 squaddie allies. Took forever though, with over 120 kills, mostly Lost and Vipers.

Hey so for some reason in a 1k+ modded campaign, I've only encountered Broken Tusk and no other special vipers. Are there any prerequisites for them spawning like a special sit-rep or anything?

These units shouldnt be linked to the actual ruler, so they should show up during your game.. they are fairly early game though

is there a way to disable the free healing they get every turn on my end? it kinda invalidates a lot of builds or makes it impossible to kill them with just 1 soldier left.

The SISSSSSTER was just killed by the Feral Hive and left no corpse behind. Could it be possible that there was no corpse, because she was killed by another faction instead by myself? Maybe she wasn't counted as dead and will return?

IF we get Offsprings of the Arch(on)-King, I guess there will also be a need for a 4th mod that modulate the spawn chance-frequency of these semi-rulers, alone with Cloned Alien Rulers. Not a problem right this moment though.

What are the template names for the frost vest and the sniper rifle? I am trying to add armor to the vest with the mod Armor & Vest Config and mod slots to the sniper with Config Upgrade slots and I can't seem to get them to work.

Great job, Sir! Thanks for the extra 4 bosses and for the new items. :praisesun: I have only one problem to report: the ice skills given by your items, when they perform the frost explosion, are missing the proper sound effect for me. When I use a frost bomb, the audio effect is therem but when I perform the axe strike :cozykcdaxe: or some other item skill, no sound effect. If you know how to fix this problem & can do it, that would be a great thing. Anyway, thanks for your valuable work. :cozyspaceengineersc:

Its not out of date... but the way the original one is set up, the Children Vipers spawn in differently than they do in this more current version. In the Old version, you could only fight them if the sitrep spawned that they were in. But that Sitrep only had a chance to spawn once in a game. So yo may not have been able to fight them all in each game. In this newer version, they spawn like Rulers and continue to come back until killed, like Rulers.

No worries. Thanks for the info. Yeah, I've always loved this mod, but I've only ever fought the twins. Never met Chromedome or Sister. Didn't even realize there was a sister. I looked up Chromedome's name in the workshop, wondering if it was a separate mod and found this. An updated version, hopefully with the content the last one was missing. I'm excited for my next playthrough already.

if you want to use this mod, yes you will need to unsubscribe to the original but will need to start a fresh game with this mod if you are in the middle of a game with the original installed. Sorry.
