Enemies just turn into killing machines. As soon are you are spotted you are done for. Also it feels like the atmosphere from the enemies is gone

A lot of these comments tell me that this should be renamed to impossible mode
(or extreme mode)

I did not even download it and yet I already know that this would be way too difficult and way too stressful for me to even play

Most changes seem good, I think the Flesher was always op in default game so I don't think it should be changed, I don't know any other monster past Robot Girl (I've only played Soma to encounter her) so idrk if they're too weak or op.

Question is, can I play hard mode without restarting my entire game? I wanna see Robot Girl's changes without having to restart the whole game.

I enjoyed the mod. It made the game difficult and fun to play. I had to run to get through some encounters because sneaking around wasn't going to get me to move forward. Kept my heart racing. I highly recommend.

No disrespect to the creator, but I cannot recommend. The mod makes very intelligent changes that sound great, but aren't executed well. Even after reading the guides provided, I still find a lot of changes unbalanced. Fleshers are OP. Next to impossible to avoid detection and no chance of outrunning them. They should have one strength or the other, not both. The only way I could get past their section was to try over and over until they glitched. Coral Puppets are better, but still problematic. Better hearing, faster movement, and the ability to search are great changes, but come with fatal flaws. They find where I am randomly, even when avoid detection flawlessly and am nowhere near. Other times, they bump into an item and then rush me as if I made the noise. Either this mod conflicts with cut content mods, or it wasn't play tested quite enough. I would recommend downloading the version of this mod that keeps the extra monster spawns+instant deaths, but removes AI changes.

Great mod! One problem I encountered: sometimes the proxy accompanying Akers will get stuck inside the room with Brandon if entering through the window, making it nearly impossible to progress. Also, Akers can't easily get in through the window.

Can you add an enemy encounter at Phi? Currently, there are no enemies inside the site. Hard Mode should have someone trying to stop you while you are searching for the Ark and carrying it to the shell.

Man, I just can't beat the Flesher at Lambda (inside the place). There are no checkpoints and I only could get to the Curie (where Catherine says we have to go to the engine room) after trying more than 10 times. Is just so hard, and I'm not playing in Insane difficulty.

A good mod, but I advise you to fix the bug with the Akers and Proxy, otherwise it is impossible to pass the game on insanity

I just made it past the construct and I want to report one issue; that it is very prone to getting stuck in fencing as well as circle dancing
the first time it spawned, it came into the room, ran halfway through it, entered stalk mode randomly and bugged itself into a fence
It freed it´self when I showed myself to it but maybe you want to know

during the second encounter it also just randomly went to stalk mode (I can´t entirely tell whether this is intentional or not) and then started circle-dancing at the crossing between carl semkens body and the flow control room

ps: I died like 4 times, I DREAD to think what the upcoming encounters will be like, looking forward to it though, nice work

So when i try and copy over save files, i load into the game but it doesnt go off the loading screen? I can hear my guy, but he's back at the first part of the game instead :(

Just got the Lambda achievement, so they unlocked fine. Thanks for verifying it just wanted to be sure before I went further. The mod feel just right in terms of tension for me, first few enemies were aggressive but not frustrating, atm not too difficult when exploring but then again I haven't gotten too far to judge it at it's worse. But I trust the auto saves as they seem paced appropriate, so I wouldn't be too discouraged from any immediate deaths. I'm going to continue the play through with it enabled as I don't mind experiencing it through a slight challenge. Appreciate the mod and all the effort implementing it, thank you so much!

The best parts of SOMA are the story and atmosphere and therefore I'd discourage use of this mod for a first time playthrough as it makes exploration difficult and is aimed at returning players.

Soma already has a good variety of enemies most of which behave very differently to each other and the mod might be too difficult if you don't already have a basic understanding of their behaviours. You can always start playing with the mod enabled, and copy your save files over to vanilla if it gets too hard.

Would you suggest playing on your difficulty on a first playthrough. Had just rebeaten the first two Amnesia games the past 2 weeks and was very surprised how easy they were in hindsight. The reason I never played Soma was the lack of collectables and inventory system. The 3rd had removed some mechanics as well which also made it feel fairly easy. Would you believe the mod makes it challenging enough without being too different tone from vanilla?

@crono I didn't change the achievement handlers at all so they should still work. If they don't that means they must be coded to not appear when using mods.

Will achievements unlock during playthrough? Just started, met that first robot/human guy, and am I able to continue as is without needing to restart and still unlock them? Thanks for your contribution!

I just finished and I like to say this is great mod! Some feedback though, I noticed that akers or the proxy will sometimes get caught in a patrol loop around the window that you can break to get the chip. If you throw an object it can fix it, but most the time I got stuck and couldn't leave the room and had to reload. Also I don't know if its intentional to not able to sneak past the robot girl, but she will usually notice me regardless if I'm moving or not. Though, I was able to sneak past her after she started patrolling. At lights section I'm not sure if it was also intentional to have the fish attack regardless if your standing in light. After coming out of the caves to the second part of the lights the fish didn't even come at all, not sure if that was a bug. I didn't seem to notice any new encounters with the angler fish other than the standard encounter. Anyways, keep up the good work!

I've been meaning to replay SOMA before Amnesia: Rebirth comes out, and this gave me the push I needed to get back into it. I could definitely feel my heart pounding during a few of the encounters in this add-on, particularly in the tunnels at Theta when dealing with three hyped-up proxies in a row. I only died twice during the game inside the Curie while lowering the ladder in the first section (kept getting pulled off by the flesher), but I had a lot of close calls when dealing with any proxies. Having to keep track of two enemies made encounters a lot more strategic and adrenaline pumping!

You did a great job at increasing the overall difficulty of the enemies without making the game borderline impossible. If you ever make custom campaigns for either SOMA or Amnesia: Rebirth, you'd make some really engaging encounters!

I briefly looked into the cut enemies but it was too much work and not really the focus of this mod. Most of them are only at a semi-functional state if they work at all and require a lot of work to get them functioning. I intend to look further into it at some point and maybe release them as separate mods
