The chassepot should have a faster reload speed than the dreyse.

Our darkest days are ahead.

I've contemplated making one, I've seen entries for the needle-fire Carcano listed in some of my old gun catalogues. They were pretty affordable in the 1930s!
ethiritiestgm 26 Jan @ 8:05pm
Funnily enough I found out he famous Carcano actually started out as a
needle rifle conversion of the muzzle loaders of the royal italian army in 1867.
It is concidered the very first of the serise of Carcanos and instead of the infamous 6.5 carcano
it used a paper cartridge.

I think another way to balance it would be to have the aim in time be longer - like in War of Rights. It takes longer to get that accurate shot off as the character tries to level the gun. Though I'm not sure yet! Your idea works too, I think I did what you commented on my other guns
ethiritiestgm 2 May, 2023 @ 7:27pm
To be honest with my previous comment. It would make sense that with the bayonet
a fixed to the end of the gun it would be a little inaccurate because the bayonet would hinder
the accuracy by slightly increasing the weight at the end of the muzzle. But, when the bayonet is
detached from the gun it is accurate.

Yeah no worries

due*
D1vine 17 May, 2022 @ 11:39pm
more range, better accuracy, dude to historical reasons, the remake shoudnt make the needle rifle balanced as the Chassepot
D1vine 17 May, 2022 @ 11:38pm
Dreyse needle rifle VS. Chassepot 1866, its like comparing a Kropatschek 1887 to a Lee Enfield, far superior in any area
ethiritiestgm 11 Dec, 2021 @ 10:36pm
Wish there was a version in this without the bayonet attached
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 23 Aug, 2021 @ 6:41pm
In fact the only other gun I've made that's older is the Baker Rifle and that's in dire need of new life
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 23 Aug, 2021 @ 6:40pm
I'm not sure, I'll be remaking the Dreyse at some point but probably not this. The Dreyse as you may know is very, very old and not very up to standard with the rest of the stuff I've created - eg. it has no bayonet whereas the Chassepot does. Sometimes the bots use the bayonet thinking it's the rifle but there's no solution for that.
Numbers 23 Aug, 2021 @ 4:53pm
Could you rebalance this as well as the Dreyse needle gun? It might just be the maps I'm using, but the Dreyse is used more effectively by bots than the Chassepot is. (This should probably be the opposite case because the chassepot is an over all more modern and better rifle than the dreyse)
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 21 Aug, 2021 @ 7:25am
It's one I've been wanting to for a while.

Would it be possible for you to make the Bavarian 1869 Werder Rifle in Ravenfield? It's an underrated gun, single shot breechloader. Really cool.
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 8 Aug, 2021 @ 4:24pm
It wouldn't inherently make it less accurate, but it'd be heavier and harder to keep pointed at what you're looking at
ethiritiestgm 8 Aug, 2021 @ 4:08pm
wish there was version of this gun (the Chassepot ) without the bayonet attached to the rifle
because wouldn't the bayonet lower the accuracy of the rifle

The French Army had Sniper units During the Franco Prussian war and Prussians commited dozens of war Crimes because of them (they had Scopes on the Rifle instead of using sniper goggles which are really bad)
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 16 Mar, 2021 @ 4:24pm
idk how I would revamp the Chassepot to make it any better; it's about on par with the rest of the guns I've made. If anything the Dreyse needs a revamp. Also what do you mean sniper variant, it's a pretty accurate rifle in-game
fcb 16 Mar, 2021 @ 12:33pm
and maybe add a Sniper Rife Variant as will because the French had Snipers during the Franco Prussian war
fcb 16 Mar, 2021 @ 12:32pm
plz Revamp the Chasspot and make it look more awesome Plz

The spinning bots is something caused by the actual AI of the game, I believe. I haven't noticed them spin unless they use the Dreyse, but bots just don't seem to like long reload weapons. I have halt strategy set to always, but it only somewhat fixes the issue sadly.
Blue Debut 8 Sep, 2020 @ 8:27am
Something a little interesting, played with Prussian bots and whenever I use the Chassepot the enemy bits just spin as they walk. Even at hard they're ridiculously easy to fight. It may be a bug or may have already been patched but it's something I noticed. Other than that the rifle is fantastic and is one of my favorites.
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 4 Sep, 2020 @ 4:43pm
Sometimes the game behaves strangely, but glad it works now for ya'
GordonTheSeal 4 Sep, 2020 @ 4:42pm
nevermind its somehow fixed itself
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 4 Sep, 2020 @ 4:40pm
Works just fine for me, perhaps a problem on your end?
GordonTheSeal 4 Sep, 2020 @ 4:18pm
silent when the bots use it
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 4 Sep, 2020 @ 11:04am
Got plans for it down the line
Long_Caster2000 4 Sep, 2020 @ 10:56am
snider british rifle?
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 3 Sep, 2020 @ 8:59am
That's something I can't fix
okd1234567890 3 Sep, 2020 @ 2:13am
It's a further story, but Murata Type 22's automatic reload can't be used, so please fix it.
okd1234567890 2 Sep, 2020 @ 6:59pm
Thank you for your reply, please wait patiently.
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 2 Sep, 2020 @ 3:49pm
Hmm, perhaps at some point I'll do that. Maybe when I revamp the Baker Rifle mod whenever that'll be.
okd1234567890 2 Sep, 2020 @ 10:07am
I hope someday I will be able to combine all the rifles I've ever made into one pack, like Pomp's Melee Weapons Pack.
Blue Debut 1 Sep, 2020 @ 9:42pm
Really like the rifle. Used it alongside a German needle rifle in a Franco-Prussian War scenario and I like it a lot. Good damage and a great bayonet. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!!

Pompadour Nautice  [author] 1 Sep, 2020 @ 5:47pm
No worries, hopefully you can hit stuff better now, though be careful since the muzzle velocity of these old guns can be rather slow
SickHead 1 Sep, 2020 @ 5:45pm
Thanks for the attention, most modders would just tell me to get good.
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 1 Sep, 2020 @ 5:43pm
The round now comes out where the muzzle is instead of below. At close range the sight will still be above it, though
SickHead 1 Sep, 2020 @ 5:07pm
Sure.
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 1 Sep, 2020 @ 5:06pm
There's a gravity multiplier on it, so I'd have to do some testing
SickHead 1 Sep, 2020 @ 4:53pm
Hey, can you rase the impact point a little? It seems to me like it is hitting too low when i tested it by shooting a wall. Doesn't matter the distance it always hit in the middle of the front sight.
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 1 Sep, 2020 @ 2:34pm
Glad you like it, heck yeah
fcb 1 Sep, 2020 @ 2:22pm
i mean hella good
fcb 1 Sep, 2020 @ 2:21pm
this is hell good
Pompadour Nautice  [author] 31 Aug, 2020 @ 8:27pm
Hmm, down the line maybe
quadrosasd 31 Aug, 2020 @ 8:24pm
Do you pretend to make a LeMat Revolver to be used as the French sidearm for a Franco-Prussian war scenario?
AtomicWombat 31 Aug, 2020 @ 11:24am
Gun Jesus aproves.
