Report a translation problem
like the one you can have a pet dog or cat, but give more option like rodent for witch and bird/raven for norse culture
Specifically:
bird_preference (Bird Lover) & veteran_knight_01 (Veteran Templar) share index = 1302
rodent_preference (Rodent Lover) & veteran_knight_02 (Veteran Knight) share index = 1303
fish_preference (Fish Lover) & veteran_knight_03 (Veteran Commander) share index = 1304
MTC also uses the indices 1201-1214 & 1305-1307, but not 1300-1301, so APT's cat_preference (Cat Lover, index = 1300) & dog_preference (Dog Lover, index = 1301) both work fine.

It can be fixed by changing traits Indexs in either ones documents.

There are! In the base game there are several ways to get a cat or a dog as a pet. Personally I've only seen one way, where a person (in my case female) was trying to romance me, and there was an option to ask them to get you a pet!
Current traits don't affect those events yet, however, but I'm sure I can have some fun modifying those in the future! :P And yes, a story of your pet sounds like a REALLY cool idea, especially since now that there is a stress mechanic >:-)
Right now they function as any congenital trait, with 20% of being born with one of those. In the future, however, I plan on making them part of the childhood, maybe tie it with getting a dog/cat event too. I'm new to modding in ck3 and there aren't many resources available to learn from yet, so give me some time to flesh it out :)
That's an awesome idea! I will play around with chances of characters getting those traits, but that's a cool idea, thanks!

I'm not sure where I would fit those... currently I have each one dedicated to a unique stat, but I guess I could just add more variety, where multiple animals could reference the same stat. I will play around with the idea, thanks for your feedback! ^.^
You could have it give a minor +1 Opinion modifier to all preferences for balance's sake.
And maybe a complete opposite trait where you hate all animals, and have it give a negative modifier to all preferences.
