I like the pistols and really enjoy the mac-10, but the AK and M4 rates of fire are a bit low for much practical use, so hope that may eventually change.
And did anyone else notice you could put 8 shells in the sawn off?
Correct me if this is wrong, but I'm pretty sure the more ammo you put in it the more powerful the shot when used. I put 8 shells in and I was launched backwards upon firing (not exactly a complaint for the shotgun)

I asked because I find it odd that weapons that should normally be storable in lockers and containers (especially among wrecks) are instead incapable of being stored period.

Is there a way to make it so that the two-handed weapons like the AK and the M4 can actually be stored in metal crates instead of just not being storable period?

You can purchase them from different outposts, cities and military stations, or alternatively just go to the settings when you make a new game or mission and go to the additional cargo settings. You should be able to add the guns and their magazines from there.
