@Joles

no worries. i am happy it's working for you now :)
Joles 6 Jan, 2023 @ 5:16am
@Ajey
OK. I deleted all the mod-folder from documents (ugc-files), verified game-files, deleted all mods from workshop and they were all redownloaded in the course. After that actions this mod now downloaded finally after subbing. So your impression was right. Hope, you don´t mind my question but it was really not easy to understand the issue here,
Ajey  [author] 5 Jan, 2023 @ 2:04pm
@Joles
yeah i understand. but even though you might think this mod is the cause of your issue, i can tell you i am pretty sure it is not. it's most likely caused by malfunctioning of steam in combination with pdx mods. happens all the time and i also heard about this issue before. otherwise nobody would be able to use this mod anymore (me included), which is clearly not the case. contact me via discord and i will try to help you by going through the steps that i can think of how to fix your buggy download process :)
Joles 5 Jan, 2023 @ 1:31pm
@Ajey: I check always the steam-workshop folder in this case for 2222668755 (this mod). I have no folder with that name and subscribing/unsubscribing does not solve the problem. I had this mod also not previously installed. Your other submods were loaded without issues like your newly generated RS-submod I installed yesterday. It is really only this one which behaves like that so that not even the folder in the workshop mod-folder is created but the download-indicator goes on forever like described below until I cancel the subscription. The Guilli, forerunner, more AI, bigger stars submods all updated/downloaded without any issues.
Ajey  [author] 5 Jan, 2023 @ 12:36pm
@Joles

please take a look at the bug report thread of the ACG main mod and how to reset mods properly. sometimes steam is failing to update mods and/or is causing issues. i think i have read about your mentioned issue before at other mods and a proper reset (not only unsubbing but also deleting the folders like described in the bug report thread) will hopefully fix your issue i think. if you still encounter issues after having reset this mod properly then feel free to contact me anytime
Joles 5 Jan, 2023 @ 11:11am
@Ajey: Steam has a problem to download this mod for me. It starts, cancels, starts, cancels all the time. It is the only mod in the last 2 days of dozens I subbed which has this problem. Can somebody confirm?

Ajey  [author] 11 Dec, 2022 @ 10:06am
*** News: steam checking system seems to be stuck again hence ACG (main mod) is invisible on the workshop once again just because i moved one paragraph of the mod description from one point to another point without adding or removing anything else. i already wrote a ticket to steam support in order to ask them to fix this as soon as possible - let's hope they fix it soon. last time this happened it took them about a week if i remember right :steambored: ***

ok, thanks for responding! :steamthumbsup:
Ajey  [author] 2 Nov, 2021 @ 11:42pm
@valrossenOliver

ah ok! well i mean this mod (ACG Icon UI Addition) can be used without ACG. so you would get new resources and building icons instead of the vanilla icons. but i think this mod is also not achievement compatible. so if you are hunting for steam achievements then i am afraid, ACG or ACG Icon UI addition mods are not for you and i don't have other separate builds of ACG Icons to offer that would be achievement compatible.
valrossenOliver 2 Nov, 2021 @ 5:11pm
I would love to see the an icon-mod for vanilla, and I was wondering if there is such a thing?
I'm an achievement pleb so no checksum changing mods is my thing. If it doesn't exist no worry, just checking! ;)
Ajey  [author] 2 Nov, 2021 @ 3:19pm
@valrossenOliver

i am not sure if i got your question correctly but i will try my best to answer it.

so if you are using ACG then there are two icon content parts. one is included into ACG (like icons for armies, ship components etc.) and those icons are not optional i.e. if you are using ACG then you will also use those icons without a replacement option.

and then there are additional icons in this mod (ACG Icon UI Addition) like icons for resources and buildings. and this mod is optional. so if you turn this mod off then you use vanilla resource icons f.e.

i hope that helps.
valrossenOliver 2 Nov, 2021 @ 1:23pm
Is there a vanilla icon replacement version hiding somewhere?
Ajey  [author] 14 Oct, 2021 @ 7:39am
***** ACG and ACG Icon UI Addition have been adjusted in order to become better compatible with other UI mods like "! Immersive Beautiful Stellaris !". From now on i highly recommend to use "! Immersive Beautiful Stellaris !" together with ACG, with the following mod loading order:

1. UI Overhaul Dynamic
2.! Immersive Beautiful Stellaris !
3. ACG
4. ACG Icon UI Addition

if you want to continue playing ACG the old way with it's old UI that i partly removed then please use this legacy version of ACG Icon UI Addition - thank you and have fun! *****

*** This mod is still up to date for 3.1.2 have fun! ***
LykosNychi 26 Sep, 2021 @ 2:46pm
Yep, I have gone back to not using this mod. It's a shame because I do like some of the different icons, but I have an older monitor that's just permanently a tad darker than most things today.

I think it's largely a contrast issue, they blend in very well with the greyish UI, and with any faction that has a 'black' flag colour etc.

Kinda reminds me of being 10 again, playing games on a laptop with the brightness turned down so I could hide it ezpz if my dad came to check I was asleep or not hahaha
Ajey  [author] 26 Sep, 2021 @ 6:37am
@LykosNychi

thank you for explaining what you meant. it's interesting because for myself it's working fine and they don't seem too dark, or out of place etc. but to be fair i have read similar feedback in the past i.e. you are not the first one criticizing that icons seem too dark and people with poorer eyesight might have issues with them.

maybe my monitor settings are different or i do have better eyes. i don't know. it's just difficult for me to change something that i don't have issues with myself and since the icons are just looking fine for me and i like them like they are, i am afraid i won't be able to provide another version of this mod with different icons - besides frankly it would be too much work as well because this mod contains a really huge amount of icons.

so i am sorry if my icons are too dark for you and i guess in such a case maybe it's best to just use ACG without this submod. nonetheless thank you for your feedback!
LykosNychi 25 Sep, 2021 @ 10:34am
English idiom. I didn't mean that they weren't 'functioning', I mean that some of the icons seemed out of place, too dark, or visually kind of 'crispy'.

I largely like the icons themselves, with a couple minor exceptions, they just don't display very well, being difficult to see etc.

I'm not sure I'd consider it a matter of taste, as much as I'd consider them inaccessible for people with poorer eyesight.
Ajey  [author] 24 Sep, 2021 @ 1:39am
@LykosNychi

what do you mean by not working? as far as i know all the icons introduced by this mod are working fine. i mean i totally understand if those icons or some of them don't meet your taste and you prefer other icons. but they are still working i guess. otherwise if you encounter any bugs please let me know
LykosNychi 23 Sep, 2021 @ 2:38pm
Yeah of course.
Thing is I like most of the icons, but they just don't seem to all work. I'll use it at least until Distant Origins updates and I start a new save, so I'll see if I ease into it or it still feels jarring by then.
Ajey  [author] 22 Sep, 2021 @ 10:43pm
@LykosNychi

thank you for your feedback! please keep in mind that this mod is an optional addon mod for ACG. you can turn this mod off and on at any time during a save-game with ACG. so if you prefer not to use the icons introduced by this Icon Addition addon mod, then simply turn it off and have fun :)
LykosNychi 22 Sep, 2021 @ 5:21pm
Some of them also lose the very important quick-to-identify context like Starbases and Digsites.
LykosNychi 22 Sep, 2021 @ 5:19pm
Hey Ajey, been a while.

I gave this a good toss to see if I liked it. While I'm not against the actual icons being used, the issue is that they're rather dark. They don't pop enough, and blend too easily into dark backgrounds.

On top of that, removing the white backpanels on some icons, such as digsites, is counter intuitive. You're supposed to be able to find those easily, and adding this makes things awkward to find.Some of the icons also are just awkward to identify because they resemble eachother quite closely, and it'll take a while to tell them apart.

. I think I can largely put down a lot of the issues with the icons to:
They're too dark, they don't pop out enough. They look good, but they're hard to see.

@Bionic Tem

i am sorry if you did not like it. i totally understand different people have different tastes. please keep in mind this mod is optional. so if you like to use the ACG main mod, you do not have to use this mod in addition to it. nonetheless thank you for your feedback! :)
Bionic Tem 11 Aug, 2021 @ 2:20pm
To be honest when I had this enabled I thought something was wrong with my game, The UI did not look good to me at all. The resources weren't clear and the markings of things in the systems like research bases and ships was too small. As I said, personally didn't like it but that's not to say its inherantly bad
Ajey  [author] 26 Jul, 2021 @ 10:27pm
@Talis like i said before, thank you very much! that's awesome! i have added you in steam for better communication. alternatively feel free to contact me via discord: Ajey#4935

Dear creators of the mod, I made a full-fledged Russian localization for your modification, but when you change it in the files mod, it does not integrate properly, in consequence the text remains English, could you explain to me this situation or even help me to solve this problem, thank you in advance.:Gifting:

@Ajey

Thanks!
Ajey  [author] 5 Jul, 2021 @ 1:15am
@Epicmonk117

you don't have to use this mod with ACG. this mod got outsourced and posted separately because some people prefer other icons or have different tastes compared to me regarding icons - like you probably do too ;) .. so feel free to use ACG without this mod, it's 100% optional
Epicmonk117 5 Jul, 2021 @ 12:17am
I'm gonna have to second what Leon and SpaceRice said: the graphics are a bit too dark and things are hard to see, particularly the hyperlanes and distinguishing between the different resources. As such, I have two questions:
1.) Is it possible to play with ACG without this mod or does it cause problems?
2.) If it's NOT possible, is there a way to improve the contrast?
Ajey  [author] 27 Apr, 2021 @ 12:10am
@LeonTheProfessional

alright thank you for your feedback. i will keep it in mind :)
LeonTheProfessional 26 Apr, 2021 @ 11:43pm
Oh I just realised you do use the same colour scheme as vanilla. Maybe saturation really is the issue. Oh well :)
LeonTheProfessional 26 Apr, 2021 @ 11:33pm
@Ajey. That's definitely a factor, and I am trying to push myself a little to get used to it, but I think that some iconography has advantages over another both in terms of lowering the time it takes to 'learn' the iconography, as well as in how efficient one becomes at recognising them once fully learned. If you were inclined to make it more 'user friendly' I'd suggest making more distinct colours, but less saturated than vanilla, and ideally using the same colour scheme as vanilla (i.e. yellow for energy, brown for minerals etc) to help with transition, would go a long way. Either way though it's beautiful work.
