Reasonable Abundance - Better Sandbox Settings for Foraged Items

Hi, could you make a version of this, which makes "nature's abundance" affect both item quantity AND refill rates? I'm used to playing with low quantity, but I also want slower respawns
JobApplication 18 Nov, 2022 @ 6:23pm
we need to find sticks on every tile

I'm not certain that the new system even has a depletion mechanic, but then again I can't look under the hood that well.
Chilled Sloth 30 Jan, 2022 @ 9:47pm
Does the new system replenish the available resources just as fast as the old one or is it a base chance dependent on the area, your skill and the set abundancy, but not if you've been there recently?

I've been running test games to find mods that work and don't. When I ran this I didn't get any errors thrown up but I also didn't see any changes in the amount of stuff I find. Probably not needed anymore. I'm not going to run any detailed tests, so if anyone else wants to, would love to know your results.

I haven't tested, but I'd be pretty surprised if it still worked.
trashcanhands 17 Dec, 2021 @ 9:06pm
Is this still useful with the new foraging system?

Thanks for the response:Doug:

This should be pretty safe to add or remove from existing saves. However, you should ALWAYS back up your save before attempting to change your modlist on an existing game, just to be safe.
Mur Derer 31 Oct, 2021 @ 1:11am
Can I enable it mid-save?
Oh God Spiders No  [author] 12 Oct, 2021 @ 12:19pm
I'm not sure off hand. It's certainly possible, if not probable.

I won't be able to play again any time soon but I'll try to investigate this at some point.

Does this work as of v41.55? When I set the abundance setting in sandbox it doesn't seem to affect it, I just seem to get less items from foraging, i.e. vanilla abundance.
TrefanSVK 10 Aug, 2021 @ 12:16pm
@TENENTE Just tested it 41.53 and it still works.
@Oh God Spiders No Also found out the lowest setting takes something like 12 days to respawn, not a season :D
TENENTE 25 Jul, 2021 @ 11:58am
Stil works 41.51?
Oh God Spiders No  [author] 10 May, 2021 @ 5:23pm
You're the best! Thanks for the idea, and for the comic you drew for me! I thought I had put it in the mod description, I need to get around to that...
Andrew 10 May, 2021 @ 2:33pm
I am playing again the game and checking for mods, then I see this title and hits my head "oh yeah, this was something that was annoying me so much last year", and now I see some madlad turn it into a mod! you are best!!!
DoktorFar 25 Feb, 2021 @ 10:15pm
Oh ok, thanks, will do!
Oh God Spiders No  [author] 25 Feb, 2021 @ 9:02pm
Yes, but Google how to add a mod to an existing save.

It will work, but it's not enough to just enable it in the mod menu
DoktorFar 25 Feb, 2021 @ 12:27pm
Does this work on a game I already have started, or do I need to start a new game? Sorry if this has already been asked.
TrefanSVK 21 Nov, 2020 @ 4:05pm
Nice. Thank you!
That comes in handy when setting up the sandbox.
Oh God Spiders No  [author] 21 Nov, 2020 @ 8:01am
I made it so that the most abundant setting is roughly the same as the vanilla game's medium setting. And the lowest setting should make it take longer than a season to respawn (if I did my math correctly). The other settings are all somewhere between those extremes.
TrefanSVK 21 Nov, 2020 @ 2:20am
This is what I needed, my park ranger characters were having it too easy :)
Can you tell how long does it take for foraging zones to respawn with the mod?

@Astray I looked into adding fish scarcity, but it would be a bit more complicated than I'm willing to undertake.

I can't find any vanilla code that empties/refills a given patch of water. I could conceivably write something but it would be from scratch. I don't really feel like I have it in me to do that at the moment. I'll keep it in mind though!
AstrayCuriosity 8 Oct, 2020 @ 11:52pm
Then it was my bad. Thanks :v
Oh God Spiders No  [author] 8 Oct, 2020 @ 9:19pm
Oh, no, just foraging. I'll see if I can add fish later, though!
AstrayCuriosity 8 Oct, 2020 @ 6:44am
Hello again. I think I kinda misleaded you a bit. Forest resources works correctly the issue is only with fishing as I noticed. This mod slows down fish refill too right?
Oh God Spiders No  [author] 7 Oct, 2020 @ 4:44pm
Interesting... that seems like something that will be a useful clue. Thanks!
AstrayCuriosity 7 Oct, 2020 @ 12:02pm
Yes. Default. If it helps I also noticed when I returned to harvest some stuff the tab was saying like 29% and in a second after I started to gather it instantly raised to 100% and started to go down like normal.
Oh God Spiders No  [author] 7 Oct, 2020 @ 11:54am
Oh, btw are you using the default settings relating to timescale? By which I mean, are in-game hours still ten real-world minutes (I think that's the default settings)?
Oh God Spiders No  [author] 7 Oct, 2020 @ 11:52am
Thanks!
AstrayCuriosity 7 Oct, 2020 @ 11:43am
That's kinda very needed mod. Hope you will keep updating it.
Oh God Spiders No  [author] 7 Oct, 2020 @ 11:30am
Thanks for reporting that! It might have been a very long time before I noticed that myself.

I'll take a peek at the calculation. Zomboid does time in "ticks" and I haven't been able to find any documentation that explicitly tells you how many ticks are in a day, so I might be way off. Either that or I just miswrote something altogether.

I will try to get to this soon, but I have some work deadlines.
AstrayCuriosity 7 Oct, 2020 @ 10:21am
Is it working? I have abundance on normal and with this mod 100% restored in 1 day bruh...
Oh God Spiders No  [author] 16 Sep, 2020 @ 4:43pm
thanks, same to you :)
Ms Adequate 16 Sep, 2020 @ 4:26pm
Good idea, will give it a try! (Also great username lol)
