"2H H-3 Container" which is made from "Heavy Ice" in the "Deuterium Tritium Irradiator"

Hi stupid question, but what do these things take for fuel?
Tiberius 16 Mar, 2023 @ 6:10am
Yea, I knew not to do this already, lol. I fixed the issue by updating the code for reactors using fuel.
Visentinel 15 Mar, 2023 @ 10:05pm
Oh crap - dont do this

"Years" old bug still in the game... power left time does not take into account the fuel mass.

I just tested with 4 gravity gens in-game with a test fuel of 5KG per ingot vs 1KG per ingot and it said 26 minutes for both despite one lasting 5 times longer with a thruster set to max.

The way i worked around this bug in my reactor mod was to run a resource first through the assembler on a ratio, it fixed two bugs at once the other one been the Gas Generators only working with an "Ore" but i want to use an "Ingot" in the reactors.

You could test by changing your ingot in the xml to a mass of 2 and put 1 uranium and 1 of yours in a reactor and place some thrusters on a station and set them to max. see which reactor dies first.
to have a fair balanced drain temporarily set your reactor to the same MW output as the vanilla one.
Visentinel 15 Mar, 2023 @ 9:45pm
then it burns at same rate ;)
lAimBotl  [author] 15 Mar, 2023 @ 8:45pm
In game? my fuel mass looks to be the same as uranium
Visentinel 15 Mar, 2023 @ 4:11am
Reactors use fuel based on the mass of the ingot, the more <mass> the ingot has the longer the ingot lasts.
lAimBotl  [author] 14 Mar, 2023 @ 6:41pm
it is probably the "<Ratio>0.001</Ratio>" in the CubeBlocks_Reactor
Tiberius 14 Mar, 2023 @ 3:44pm
If I may ask as well. What setting do I need to change to make the reactors use more fuel than they currently do? So far they are barely using any at all, and I'd like to change that on my end.

@ lAimBotl Here is a link for you to verify I have given you credit, and linked to the original mod. My changes are renaming items, and making the resource ratio harder.

@ lAimBotlM Of course, thank you so much. I will link to the original, and give you credit personally for all your hard work. Thank you again.

idm, long as you link to the original.

@ lAimBotl I would like to request permission to tweak this mod for my server, and upload it to my workshop. Credit will be given to you as the creator. Thank you for your time.

SO I'll just throw this out there, intense gravity (like in neutron stars) can generate baryon particle effects where electrons replace one of the up-quarks in the proton (which then becomes a neutron) and the up-quark once liberated becomes a positron (anti-mater) which almost instantly annihilates with a stray electron.. The result in relation to this mod would be LOTS of power and neutron radiation (hard rads). with that in mind this mod should be dangerous to operate (deadly even ticking damage on anyone in range) but should produce ridiculous amounts of power.

Hey i love these

Can i please add them to my mod for Gas Reactors ?

*claps hands excitedly*

I'll be keeping an eye on this one. Can't wait for the inevitable containment failure to blow the ass end of my ship into the next quadrant...

Have you taken a look at the assorted exploding reactors/jumpdrives/gas-tanks mods for inspiration? Maybe see if some of their scripts might work here?

@lAimBotl Aye even tho Anti-Matter is in large amounts in pockets, its not everywhere in large quantities like Dark Mater is, so one would have to find a way to make pockets of it near asteroids to make it "realistic"

Or at lest this is what my scientist friend said, he rambled on for hours about Dark Matter, Anti-Matter, Dark Energy, Dark Flux and Anti-Flux and a few other things that was right over my head.
lAimBotl  [author] 2 Oct, 2020 @ 9:00pm
I did see something on Dark matter possibly being its own antiparticle.
Notacultist 2 Oct, 2020 @ 8:49pm
of course anti matter has so many uses, as a high density fuel for reactors, weaponry, propulsion, just this one material could have countless applications and fun ingame mechanics to add a sort fo new teir and threat to ship building
if you're looking for inspiration then check out the wikipedia article, lots of stuff on how antimatter rides along radiation belts and can be collected in space.
consider a large collector with only a few connection points, and upgrades to make them either more power efficient, or faster at collection with more power draw.
again though yeah, so many possibilities and mechanics with this.

How about changing the name to Dark Mater Reactor?
lAimBotl  [author] 2 Oct, 2020 @ 7:51pm
Tbh I was hoping ST had some grounds as to why they used deuterium in matter antimatter reactors lol.
I was going to go with "fluorine-18" but I don't think it emits that much,
then I saw something on lasers making antimatter . . .

If I read correctly somewhere, there isn't too much am in space, might work though,
I will have to double check to see if large block sizes will cause lots of lag (I know having too many mount points will cause a ton of lag, So it might have only a few of them.)

I cannot really think how I would make it so you cannot store it in vanilla containers though (or make it explode if it is in one. preferably by how much is in it).
but then I am not too experience when it comes to scripting in SE.
Though if it is possible, I would make it so it doesn't blow up instantly.
(excuse: all am containers would have backup batteries)
(also would be nice if I could make it not auto output into vanilla containers, lol)

Seems like a lot of work malachiingram14 but hell if this becomes a reality, I will finally be able to uninstall all these other reactor mods because this one will fit all my needs, looks good and isn't super cheaty with out risk.
Notacultist 1 Oct, 2020 @ 7:35pm
heya! consider an alternative to deuterium to antimatter, which isn't a real thing, and consider instead massive anti matter collectors to collect antiparticles that naturally fly through space! a large block giant circular collector that passively generates anti matter when powered! consider giant electromagnets and such to collect anti matter when making component lists. also consider a powered storage block that must be supplied with power or risk explosion when storing anti matter, to simulate electromagnetic containmnet. either way, neat mod!

Interesting... Tell me more.
