Has anyone tested if this works with left 4 bots? (the mod binds certain vocalizer to commands and I'm worried this talker would break the radio menu I'm currently using)

Of all the anti-vocalizer spam mods/plugins I have come across, this mod is by far the best, as it allows the in-game naturally-occurring lines to fire, but also makes it so that players cant abuse them. Especially with the saferoom lines, that require little to no criteria to fire it.

This mod doesn't completely mute everyone, however, as it allows the campaign-specific lines to fire (only from the game) and allows the player to use the default vocalizer lines (these being the simple concepts like no, yes, laugh, etc.)

If you ask me, the vanilla talker should work like this and only allow mods to let the player vocalize campaign-specific lines manually. Unfortunately this will never happen and if it were to, a majority of this game's playerbase would frown upon it.

in a future update, iis there a way you can reincorporate ellises' "downed someone else" lines? i've seen it used in another talker but it goes unused otherwise

I still plan on making compatibility changes with other custom campaigns, I've just been busy with IRL stuff and clearing through my backlog to avoid complete burnout.

I’ll be happy to provide clarification for how those lines trigger. I believe I have left those alone for the update, so it’s safe to say that they function the same way as they do pre-tls.

Just like the talker we have now, but has custom campaign stuff so that they're compatible, but also is incompatible with custom vocalizers.

Unfortunately, the criteria that lets the survivor speak certain lines are integrated. They are considered whether it's auto or manual speaking. It is currently impossible to have them separate.

There was an old mod back then that made the survivors say screamer and also say don't let him scream and so on. Sadly it was lost in time. It was used along side the screamer mod replacement.

Probably that. Which doesn’t exist in vanilla, nor can the engine distinct them properly. So even attempting to add a rule without voicelines to back them up is moot.

I don't think they have any voicelines for Screamers, do they? Afaik it was a scrapped concept that didn't appear until B4B - is that what you're referring to?

You’re looking for audio replacements rather than actual line replacements. This addon is meant to stick as closely to vanilla as possible.

Xanaguy I wanted to know if you could create a mod that makes the survivors say Screamer! instead of boomer for every boomer line in the game and for the lines that mention them being puked on, just add new lines to replace it

Yours and Rise's talkers are the only ones getting updated to this day so there isn't really any options. Others are broken to bits and it's unpleasing to test them out because then I have to unload and then reload a game again to load a different script.

Yeah. i promised to have the old talker uploaded as an addon with the bug fixes because many of the lines that were meant to play all that time never had due to oversights in the implementation. So for people who want to see the old version perfected, I uploaded that.

Ah. So the Pre-TLS talker is for that specific group of people who have the old version of L4D2 (you know what I meant). I see.

This one is post-tls with custom campaign compatibility, but also doesn’t allow custom radial menus to vocalize anything in the scripts other than the default options. (Anything in the vocalizers own custom scripts are still useable) Pre-TLS talker is basically pre-tls with TLS compatibility + vanilla bug fixes, which also have been applied here

You can’t use two sets of talker scripts like that. The game will only use one and not the other. Depends on which one is installed first. That’s a source engine thing. (And in an official server, it will use that server’s installed scripts only)

This is standalone, isn't it? I'm planning on using it with Rise's Modified Talker to make sure the game isn't glossing out all of the possible dialogue (as well as repeating then one replayed campaign to another).

Depends on each individual change. Stuff like fixing a vanilla part of the game should be merged officially, while things like adding compatibility for custom campaigns (I.e Fatal Freight or Dark Wood) should remain in the addon.
