np dude :) It's only needed if when forming caravan, and each time you add or remove object game lags to death - otherwise you don't need it. Good thing about it you can add and remove it as needed it won't fuck up your saves

I might need to look in to it, but I can’t promise when - probably next time I’ll come back to Rimworld :P As for now just activate and deactivate mod when needed because this calculation mostly slows everything down in super late game when you don’t even care about foraging

as a suggestion for the last bit in the description, perhaps just a flat forage amount based on plants skill. Perhaps averaged from all biome types so you don't have to calculate the biome either. If the Plants Skill idea doesn't work because you cant calculate that before hand then perhaps just a flat amount in general. Otherwise reducing the amount of food you need to bring would be sufficient.

Hello, I want to say that this mod gives me an error that impede my pawns forage in caravans, it does not give me a debug log tho. I have already disable it to confirm it was caused by this mod and it was.

@Jov this seems like a mod to fix to a bug, was it ever reported in the Rimworld-Dev discord's bug reports? They can be fairly responsive.

I'm super sure this mod is compatible with everything - it only overrides one variable, even if other mod modifies it too, worst thing that will happend it will get overrided.
Anyways thanks for mentioning this mod - looks cool AF I need to test it now :D

@Witch ~ - 1 advice turn off this mod while your berries makes difference for you and just turn it on when your caravan starts lagging (usually during "mid/end game")

I find if my caravan is stalling I made it too big. Several smaller caravans works better. Also if you make a small caravan after you decide how much food to bring you can add members. Later when the caravan is about to leave you drop the added members and the caravan is done much faster than it would have been.

@Shade 1 advice, if you really needs those berries at game start turn off the mod for beginning of your playthrough and activate it after caravan starts lagging and when those berries stop making a difference.

@Between Names - i found only this in notes:

"Optimized caravan automatic food selection.

Caravan speed: Caravan speed solely depends on carried mass, ridden animals, and terrain movement difficulty. Pawn speed no longer impacts caravan speed. Some animals (horses, donkeys, dromedaries) can be ridden by caravan members which boosts caravan speed. Downed pawns do not slow caravans down, but you still need at least one non-downed non-slave to operate the caravan."

So it doesnt say anything about foraging which was causing problems last time. I guess let's just test it and we will see if the mod is still needed :) The worst that can happen is you will forage less berries :)

I remember reading about a change to this mechanic in the patch notes to 1.3.
I see that this is updated to 1.3, so I wonder; Why? Is it not fixed, or was it easier to update than to check? Fair enough if the latter is the case.

Hello guys. Probably the same problem send me here. And if you really have the same problem as me (hard lags everytime i choose pawn, animal or any goods in caravan menu) I believe I figured how to eliminate this problem.

Basically you just need to do just one step: On World screen when you set up caravan and caravan menu shows up - then (before you start selecting pawns, animals or goods) click on third sheet called "Travel supplies" and UNCHECK an option called "Automatically choose travel supplies" (or something like that - I am transeling it from different language) - after this step u can freelly select pawns, animals and goods without any lags. Once you are done, than (if you want) you can click on "Automatically choose travel supplies" - game will freeze while it calculate supplies - and after short period of time you can sent caravan.

hey, there may be an issue with animals. as the moment i choose one animal my game almost crashes. then when i choose an item to be with the animal, my game crashes.

@JovianPug How about making the calculation optional via button? This way, you remove lags as foraging bonus will only be calculated when the user tells the game to do so, while also keeping the foraging bonus.

In fact on-caravan prep lag is still a serious issue even with that option disabled as you try and move items back and forth

@Kotatsuji - Yes it should help that.
@Mrmarko123 - Tbh for me it worked placed anywhere, all I do is changing one formula, that is tied to caravans. Maybe you are expiriencing lag because of some other issue(?)
@Mochigao - I can't promise it or tell you the date - but I was thinking about doing it this way too. With simple way of changing it in menu.

Sorry if I have the wrong idea, but this helps with the freezing that you get when you click a pawn to join the caravan right? If I get to year 4 I get really bad freezes whenever I try to put more than a couple on a caravan.

I noticed that disabling the option for auto-loading of food and medicine clears the lag right up.
Of course, it's annoying that the game keeps enabling auto-loading... perhaps an option to simply disable it by default via your mod, as an alternate option to reducing food gathered?
