Hope this gets finished one day. I have been holding off playing to wait instead for a complete massive overhaul of the game to spice it up a little for 2024 + future.

There are, though not as a mod, I'm remaking the game in Godot in a professional capacity, but this will take some time as I'm working on completing 2 other smaller games before doing this. Both games being complete will provide the bases for building the tools needed to complete it.

Thanks cobber51, it's good to get it done finally. Regarding the degree, it was Games and Interactive Environments. Very handy for this line of projects.

These are all good points regarding logging progress and setting up socials and Patreon. I already have discord which is here: https://discord.gg/Yeu3cubu but is quiet for now. I've also recently graduated university too which is a plus.

That new project to remake the whole game in Godot sounds amazing, and very ambitious! But then again this mod was quite ambitious to begin with considering the single modded DLL limitation you had to work with.

I for one will be very interested to see the fruits of your labour on this new project as it progresses, so the obvious question is, are you going to be posting a link here somewhere to the site where you're logging your progress to follow the progress of the new project as it develops?

Hey KobraThor, wow, just play the game already haha. Things have changed alot and plans changed too. I lost interest in the mod a long while ago but I'm actually remaking the game in Godot now. The whole game, but with modern design principles and all in a 3d engine, even though when you play it, you'll struggle to notice the difference from the original at first.

Or did you mean you're remaking all models from scratch in Blender? If they would look better, then it's worth the wait, but please give us an ETA, example or even a sign of life, lol.

Mkay, thanks. From everything I've seen it seems to be exactly hue 120; so based on the normal 00FF00 green. So I guess I'll go with that. I do have the programming knowledge to easily post-process frames to correct everything more or less green to that exact hue.

Hey, Nyerguds, Not exactly, I've always used trial and error to balance the lighting and the post processing to get then looking just right. I'm changing that though as I remake everything just in blender. However seeing anything out of that will be a while off, if I even finish it at all

Hi WakizashiM, glad to hear of your patience. I know exactly what you're meaning and my intention is to integrate those with my work, My work mainly focuses on making the art in the game reflect those we would consider lore friendly as well as fix a number of technical issues with perspective and shadows. I have thought of a more in depth rebalance, but that's probably for another project.

I saw that you'll need to provide a modded dll because of some units. Considering that, could you simply take Chthon's CFE Patch Redux and add it to your mod? Chthon's patches for Tib Dawn and Red Alert 1 are essential and kind of perfect. My idea way of playing the games would be with his patches and yours. So if you could simply take his code from github and integrate it to your mod, that'd be perfect.

Learning how to extract game assets is an important part of the modding process, in this case you'll find them all here "SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\CnCRemastered\Data" and you'll then have to google how to extract the .MEG files to then extract the files you are after.

One final thing to mention too is that there's still no pipeline that an artist can use to create assets for this. So I can't really expect there to be anything that matches the quality of the ones I've created at the moment, or to have people come forward straight away. So once I figure out the new pipeline, I'll open source what I can so that people can then use to create their own sprites.

Creative liberties can be taken as well, say for example more greeble surrounding buildings is acceptable as long as it fits. In a way I suppose I would like to leverage some crowd sourcing as in this case no donations will be accepted and will more or less be a community project to avoid the dependence on just one person who makes content for any given game.

From an art standpoint, if anyone wants to contribute their models I'd be happy to accommodate them and include them in this project. My only restriction is that they have to be exactly how they are presented in the FMV's with exceptions being made for things that more accurately reflect their behaviour in game. For example the M2 Bradly has Tow Missiles in the FMV's but doesn't have that feature in the actual game so there's no reason to actually portray that on the unit itself
