Doesn't seem to be working. Tried multiplayer with 1 other player and rest AI and it was no different than random/clustered that usually happens

Yes it is fine for 3.8.3. If you have any mods that change the size of the galaxy, this won't apply to any of the new sizes. Load order should not matter.

Okay figured it out. Just had to make a new folder and copy the mod info into that new folder. :shrug:

Hm. Changed the version number of the mod in my files but the mod doesn't want to appear in the upload mod window. Quick searching didn't find a solution but I'm sure I'll find it shortly

There is no reason it shouldn't work as is. I'll try to rebuild it in the new version so it doesn't give the warning.

There are no special instructions. This mod increases the desired difference between players.
The main difference between No Clustered Starts and this mod is that I've increased the distance between players, increase the size of clusters for empires, and increased the number of connections between clusters.

If you are getting better experiences with a different mod go ahead, Unfortunately, there are very few levers to tweak for galaxy generation and the random nature of the game will tell.
We've only had a few games were players were not dispersed reasonably well.

We tend to use Random distribution as that seems to give better results but it shouldn't matter

Does this work in multiplayer games with both humans and AI players? So say with 4 human players and a bunch of AI empires, how does the spacing work? Will the 4 human players be all equally far away from each other (ex. one north, south, east, and west)? And will the remaining AI empires also be distanced?

Updated with 3.0.1 version. Nothing changed in map generation so this should be fine. Will try to support some of the other map types.

A quick check shows no differences that should affect this mod for 3.0
I'll spend some time and update it to 3.0.1 I'll see if I can add some other map sizes

It works for tiny, small, medium, large, and huge sizes. Since the larger galaxies probably have their own galaxy initiation files this won't be able to affect them.
