Wisconsinites Unite!
Action Bastard! 13 Dec, 2017 @ 11:21am
The mod worked fine for a while, but now it crashes after my first turn if Wisconsin is in the game at all. I haven't introduced any new mods to the equation that might affect the loading order or anything like that. Any suggestions?

@calcul8or, I enjoy the Wisconsin civ (being from Madison), i think it would be really cool to give Wisconsin the unique luxury resource of Ginseng since it is a high priced commodity and 95% of ginseng grown or harvested in America comes out of Wisconsin..thats huge domestic export for WI. I like the strong industrial aspect, would also be pretty cool to have the UW-extension instead of the National College :) I like Jean Nicolet as the leader even though Wisconsin was not a state till much later..happy to play it!

Hmmm, the factory should be there. This was the first civ I ever made, and if you think the art is bad now you should've seen the original :steamfacepalm: I'm quite fond of it because of the amount of learning that went in to building it, and nostalgia makes it hard to change much.

This one was interesting, because some aspects of it are polished to perfection and other aspects are quite rough. The UA was great. If you can average about 2-3 pastures per city, the UA provides plenty of value. The movement bonus to settlers and workers is a small thing, but cumulatively added up over the course of the game to be quite nice. The brewery is fantastic. Simple, but very effective. Now, for the rough parts of this civ. The lack of a second unique is the biggest issue. Looks like you at one time had a unique factory replacement, but that's no longer there, so this civ's only unique is the brewery. Not sure why you took out the second unique. The other rough spot was the art. The brewery's art was quite nice, but everything else was pretty rough. The leader screen and civ icon are something you might want to look into updating at some point. Overall, still a fun civ, but kinda inconsistent.

When I have this mod enabled, I can't scroll down the list of civs when I set up a game. I know it's this one because when I shut it off the problem stops. I have all the official DLCs.

I said this on the alaska one too, it happens with that one as well. If I have either of them on individually, or both, I can't scroll.

alright. thanks for the quick reply. i look forward to playing this when i get BNW
calcul8or  [author] 26 Jul, 2015 @ 6:57am
@Chongo_ - Yes, you do. Sorry, I fif n't include that in the notes
Chongo_ 25 Jul, 2015 @ 9:57pm
@calcul8tor i cannot get this to work, do i need BNW?

Leader should definitely be Robert La Follette. He coined the state's true motto "Forward" which fits the Civ theme perfectly. The Progressive State takes its name and until very recently its politics from the actions of a man who thrice ran for President. He also has a raging style that would make for a great Leader screen.

I LOVE THIS!!!
Now I can be a true Wisconsinite!

mecasloth 15 Jul, 2014 @ 7:23pm

froggyjake 8 Jul, 2014 @ 5:42pm
Calcul8or - I have fixed that problem, but now i seem to have another problem where i enable the wisconsin civilization and it doesnt show up in the list of civilizations. any idea what might be causing that? I'm having the same issue with your California and Michigan Civ.
calcul8or  [author] 8 Jul, 2014 @ 4:36pm
There is a common problem with Steam mods not showing up. One rememdy:
Exit Steam
Navigate to the cache folder. The default location is C:\Users\[username]\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache
Delete the file Civ5ModsDatabase (if it makes you more comfortable, move it to the desktop or somewhere else instead)
Restart the game
Go to the mods selection screen and be patient. The game should download and extract all of your mods at that point, and it takes a while
froggyjake 7 Jul, 2014 @ 12:49pm
When I subscribed to the mod it never shows up on my mods list for some reason. Any idea what might cause this?
Anthony 4 Jul, 2014 @ 3:50am
Oshkosh should have citizens that only work every other turn because of Hangovers.
calcul8or  [author] 2 Jun, 2014 @ 4:23pm
Great to hear!
LMAO ! 2 Jun, 2014 @ 5:16am
The first thing I did was built as many cities as possible to see where Kenosha fell. Noice mod man. The only game where I can manage my state and you made it possible for me.
Mr. Kaiser 4 Mar, 2014 @ 5:55pm
WISCONSIN POWER!!!
Trash_Master 28 Feb, 2014 @ 4:36pm
Will do
calcul8or  [author] 28 Feb, 2014 @ 4:34pm
And the city list is updated. Have a drink at Cleo's for me.
Trash_Master 27 Feb, 2014 @ 6:15pm
@calcul8or- I would apreciate that, as would my friends, great mod still love using it.
calcul8or  [author] 27 Feb, 2014 @ 5:42pm
@Slash_Master - I might have to move Appleton up in the order (great town, by the way). You'd have to get to your 16th city to find it
Comissar_Anatoli 27 Feb, 2014 @ 5:28pm
KENOSHA FOR THE WIN
Trash_Master 26 Feb, 2014 @ 9:26pm
How long till I get to build Appleton in game? I need to build the best city man.

@Wisconsam217 - I had to have a shout out to the Pack!
Wisconsam 23 Feb, 2014 @ 1:05am
I also love the subtle Packer colors as the nation. Green and Gold is quite the thing here.
calcul8or  [author] 22 Feb, 2014 @ 3:47pm
@Rastah tom - I've got something for you here
calcul8or  [author] 19 Feb, 2014 @ 7:33pm
Michigan as a playable Civ is now posted. Maybe I can turn my attention to ND...
aspalar 17 Feb, 2014 @ 10:57pm
Phil Jackson is from ND, just sayin, leader and all
calcul8or  [author] 17 Feb, 2014 @ 10:29pm
I REALLY want to say, "Challenge accepted!" but I'm a little backed up. Glad you suggested a leader - off the top of my head I couldn't think of any North Dakotans
Rastah tom 17 Feb, 2014 @ 9:32pm
P.S. The leader should probably be Josh Duhamel, because I don't know if there's anybody else from ND worth mentioning.
Rastah tom 17 Feb, 2014 @ 9:31pm
I'm from Wisconsin, and love your state mods so far. I've got a real challenge for you though. I'm currently living in North Dakota, at Minot AFB. If you could do a North Dakota mod I would be seriously impressed. Some suggestions, if you do plan on taking this venture, would be ND's huge oil boom going on right now (unique trait, maybe? double the quantities of land oil resources) and Minot AFB, which any research would tell you is a key component in America's nuclear enterprise (IDK how you'd pull that one off). I pose the challenge to you, sir. If I see it on the steam workshop one of these days, I will most definitely download it, play as them, and laugh my ass off. Appreciate the work you've done so far, can't wait to see what's next.
aspalar 17 Feb, 2014 @ 9:14pm
I played a game as if I were scott walker. I killed all the workers and ran the economy into the ground. :)
calcul8or  [author] 17 Feb, 2014 @ 4:21pm
@Steven - let me just say that I was very selective in who I chose as leader. No use ticking anyone off (on either side of the political aisle)
Steven 17 Feb, 2014 @ 2:31pm
and hows the leader scott walker lol ?
calcul8or  [author] 16 Feb, 2014 @ 9:36pm
Thanks! I hate micromanaging workers, but I also refuse to automate them so the extra movement relly helps game-play.
aspalar 16 Feb, 2014 @ 9:21pm
All joking aside this mod is great. The extra movement for workers and settlers is extremely helpful, Plus it's just cool having city names from here. Great work!
calcul8or  [author] 16 Feb, 2014 @ 11:01am
@archwu0817 - I'm sure that your homework is ALWAYS done before you start playing Civ, right? :)
ArchW 16 Feb, 2014 @ 9:32am
Greetings from a UW student!
calcul8or  [author] 16 Feb, 2014 @ 5:47am
@flyins - lol
@stephangoodwin - then we mist have similar play styles :)
@Faiko - thanks! But I'm running out of states I'm familiar with
stephangoodwin 16 Feb, 2014 @ 5:38am
I have nothing to do with Wisconsin, but I have to say I love this mod. It matches my way of playing perfectly!
Faiko 15 Feb, 2014 @ 8:54pm
This is exciting.
aspalar 15 Feb, 2014 @ 8:29pm
Well it's Illinois, of course it's not quite right. :)
calcul8or  [author] 15 Feb, 2014 @ 9:40am
The Illinois mod is now here! . Comments welcome! I'm not sure it's quite right
