Are you sure the "negative income tax" is correctly reflected. I only did a quick read into it i.e. feel free to provide me some statistics/studies. Looking only on the wiki and the USA 1980 experiment with real world applications, it wasn't too great in regard of cost versus benefits.
Kelsinsky 1 Apr, 2022 @ 2:45pm
Maybe a mod for "Global economy". When you click on it you get what countries are doing well and which ones arent. Maybe that could expand on another mod for International Trade and Conflict because so far the military spending is useless.

Another thing I would reaaaaaaally but really really would like was if there wasent a cap for GDP.... neither a lower cap nor a top cap. Maybe have a formula so that the greater the GDP percapita, the smaller the potential growth or something like that. That way the game woulnd't lose balance.

@SaniK good idea, would be nice to have some kind of foreign investment mechanics
SaniK 17 Sep, 2021 @ 8:08am
Could someone make a mod that when you have a surplus and pay of country debt, you can start investing in a variety of different things that gives you certain benefits. For example you could invest in other countries and they pay you interest over time or buy mercs so you don't need to spend money on your own military or anything you can think of. I feel their is little benefit for getting your country out of debt and I would like to see benefits for doing so! :steamhappy:

@pointman Wealthy are the ones who sit on empty plots of land which are the targeted areas of a LVT. Whole theory of how land is the real cause of monopolization
Fuzyquzy 12 Apr, 2021 @ 3:19am
this mod is for turkish leaders
pointman 2 Apr, 2021 @ 9:26am
Wealthy people would not like a land value tax? WTF? Please explain the mental gymnastics you had to go through to arrive at that? With conventional property taxes, the wealthy pay taxes based on the value of the extravagant houses built on the property. A land value tax removes that measure and only taxes the unimproved value of the land. That would mean significantly lower property taxes, not only for the wealthy, but any home owner. So wealthy people would not like it because.....................?

Can you make a mod that allows interest income from reserves?
sw1561 23 Dec, 2020 @ 6:02pm
Update?
somnitek 2 Dec, 2020 @ 10:06pm
Ah, I forgot to say an income tax system according to income level. That's what I get for being lazy haha.
somnitek 2 Dec, 2020 @ 10:05pm
I was thinking about how you might implement such an income tax system in the game, along with a marginal tax rate... Any thoughts and I'd practically love you for it! I see the game doesn't look terribly difficult to mod, but if this is something you were interested in, let me say here now you or someone else is more than welcome to steal these "ideas." Yes, I copied this from another reply I wrote on another such mod's comments. Sorry, just being lazy. ;-)
AturUwU 1 Dec, 2020 @ 2:50am
@Xiaopulaen American Libertarian right? No one advocating for a Free Market here in Austria is scared of Taxes, its a simple part of life.

HippoMan 10 Nov, 2020 @ 6:36pm
Hi @feelinWitchy. Subscribed to both your More Taxes and Space Travel Mod. I saw you mentioned your foreign policy mod. May I ask by when do you intend to launch it and what's your vision for said mod?
feelinWitchy  [author] 10 Nov, 2020 @ 3:47pm
@Spidna which policies were you thinking? I compared a few (Like gambling to recreational drug tax) but for others, I really had no idea what to go for and went off my gut. If you have suggestions for things like the land value tax, I'm all ears!
feelinWitchy  [author] 10 Nov, 2020 @ 3:46pm
@Fobio24 It does change them, but it doesn't have any kind of bar showing it on the policy screen. If you check out the income you have before and after implementing, it should be higher.
Fobio24 10 Nov, 2020 @ 11:43am
Stengthen Tax Code Mod doesn't appear to actually affect tax values when implemented. I shows it before you implement it, but not after. Am i missing something or is this correct? Great mod though, I like the increased variety of taxes.
Spidna 10 Nov, 2020 @ 10:31am
these incomes shown on screen seem a bit more powerful than they should be, have you compared your potential tax incomes to the potential tax incomes that come with the base game?
feelinWitchy  [author] 8 Nov, 2020 @ 11:42am
@Gokinmen this definitely looks like something that I'd be interested in adding. I'll think about how to implement it and will probably push it out eventually! Right now I'm just waiting for some fixes
splatterpop 8 Nov, 2020 @ 8:20am
i misread this mod's name as "More Texas" yeehaw
Gokinmen 7 Nov, 2020 @ 9:43pm
here is a link to the different consumption taxes. There are a lot of specific consumption tax ideas that have been proposed over time. I specifically like the idea of the Flat rate consumption tax on businesses. This is different from a sales tax in the idea that the business/corperation is taxed rather than the consumer. Yes the price tag goes up either way, but it is seen as an alternative to using other taxes, since it renders alot of them redundant. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consumption_tax
feelinWitchy  [author] 7 Nov, 2020 @ 3:04pm
@Gokinmen what do you mean by a consumption tax? Sounds interesting!
feelinWitchy  [author] 7 Nov, 2020 @ 3:03pm
@Aturchmoicz yeah unfortunately sliders are still busted. Parentheses too, which makes doing any kind of exponentially effect super difficult (This one has made my space travel mod much more difficult to create). I reported the bugs over on the forum and the dev has them on the to do list, but those issues are one of the reasons why I'm waiting to update my mods and create others.
AturUwU 7 Nov, 2020 @ 11:35am
@feelinWitchy Are they still busted? Most of my Policy Ideas for this very specific country that im building rely on these Flavour texts ...
Gokinmen 7 Nov, 2020 @ 11:09am
Are you planning on adding consumption tax?
feelinWitchy  [author] 23 Oct, 2020 @ 5:30pm
@Mieszko right now the sliders for modding are busted, and trying to insert a new one for a policy just gives you a "not set" value for every slider position. Once this is fixed I'm definitely going to change it to actual terms!
Mieszko 23 Oct, 2020 @ 4:59pm
Can you change the "low medium high" terms in the slider bar to an actual percentage for all policies that reflect a percentage payment? Like the negative income tax or the immigrant tax policy for example.
Dampfnudel 22 Oct, 2020 @ 3:47am
Is there a car tax already? A tax for owning a car.
Also a fuel tax.

Also tax exemptions for books and food (similar to education&healthcare)
daundre 18 Oct, 2020 @ 5:17pm
YAY! Negative income tax!
RunesGod 17 Oct, 2020 @ 7:10pm
How about an immigration tax, a water tax, an energy tax, an electric car tax, an obesity tax, a private business tax, or a gig economy tax?
MarkJerue 17 Oct, 2020 @ 3:25pm
NP friend :) I thought I'd mention 'em for the laughs... and the potential taxes.
feelinWitchy  [author] 17 Oct, 2020 @ 12:44pm
@MarkJerue these are some great policy ideas! I'm especially a fan of the social media tax, dog tax (Would probably just turn this into a pet tax, tbh), and the income earned abroad tax! I'll add these whenever I get the chance. It may take a while, since I'm trying to get my second mod off the ground currently but it will be coming!
feelinWitchy  [author] 17 Oct, 2020 @ 12:41pm
@MiuGu thanks for the feedback! I was debating on the prostitution tax and what to name it, but I think you've convinced me to go with "Sex Work Tax". I'll change that when I'm able! Unfortunately, the tax income isn't implemented with the "Legalize Sex Work" policy, which is why this was necessary. Which is weird considering it mentions tax income in the description??

The "Strengthen Tax Code" policy does indeed reduce tax evasion as well as increases the income of several taxes by a factor of 15% at max levels, which can lead to some crazy income tax levels!

I'll take a look at the tax opinion modifier piece and see what there is to do there :)
MiuGu 17 Oct, 2020 @ 8:58am
4) Would be cool to also have some interaction between services provided and the popularity impact of taxes. For example currently in the game I hate how the middle class just hates taxes no matter what and having anything but low income taxes lowers their opinion of you to ridiculous lows. So some kind of tax opinion modifier would be cool and some modifiers that impact it. Like government investment in things people like also impacting their (especially the damn middle classes) opinion on taxes and vice versa. Also maybe tax propaganda policy :D Don't know if this is actually feasible to do but would be cool.
MiuGu 17 Oct, 2020 @ 8:58am
1) The Cow flatulence tax should be, as it is in the link mostly a burp tax. Since cows actually emit most of their methane trough burping.

2) Prostitution is a cringy term in legislation, the correct wording would be sex work. Second just adding a sex work tax is kind of regressive since that separates it from other forms of self-employment. So for simply taxing sex work, that should be tagged onto the policy to legalise it, if for some reason it isn't already.

3) I haven't played the mod yet so don't know if the strengthen tax code already does this but I'd like more interaction with tax efficiency and tax dodging.
MarkJerue 17 Oct, 2020 @ 7:55am
Here's a few suggestions w/ links, assuming Steam lets me post links....

1) Taxing citizens living abroad on income earned abroad. Last I heard only the US and Eritrea do this. Example: if I'm an American citizen living in Japan and working in Japan, I still have to pay US income taxes. Loved by patriots, hated by any citizens living abroad.
2) Ireland artist tax exemption. Artists & creative types don't pay income tax on stuff they sell.
3) Cow flatulence tax / slaughterhouse tax. Loved by enviros, hated by farmers. Currently exist in Denmark.
4) Social media / blogging tax. Tax per day social media's used / per year blogging is used. Currently in Uganda and was in Tasmania.
5) Dog tax. Currently in Switzerland. Dogs there are taxed by weight & size.
MarkJerue 17 Oct, 2020 @ 7:39am
Love this mod :)
feelinWitchy  [author] 15 Oct, 2020 @ 1:41am
@HippoMan I totally get the late game being less enjoyable! I feel the same way. I'm hoping to fix that with the space related stuff (Actually giving a sort of end-goal to each game), and possibly with some other mods down the line as well :)
feelinWitchy  [author] 15 Oct, 2020 @ 1:38am
@Cryo @HIppoMan Unfortunately, I don't see a way that the absolute value/cumulative amounts would work. Things like GDP in the game aren't really ever calculated using an actual dollar amount. The GDP stat that you're seeing in game is just a number between 0 and 1. Think of it less as actually increasing your GDP, and think of it more as a value closer to 1 (Max GDP) means that you're producing closer to 100% of what your country could feasibly produce.

I could create a country mod in which each country had a higher maximum GDP, but this wouldn't do much besides changing $ amounts in game - The balance would be the same as it is now and you still wouldn't be able to grow your GDP past a certain threshold. If absolute, endless growth numbers are to be implemented, I think it has to be at a level only the developer could accomplish, not a modder :(
HippoMan 14 Oct, 2020 @ 11:09pm
@feelinWitchy thanks man for replying. That sounds so exciting. Hopefully what @Cryo suggests may work as I really feel the lack of absolute numbers makes the late game less enjoyable once you max all areas. But no matter, love the idea of including more than just policies :D Will subscribe to your future packs. Keep up the great work love seeing the constant updates since I really think your mod can be the top democracy 4 mod.
