That actually only happened once with another mod, when the new human portraits came out and the portrait structure was thrown a bit messed up as a result.
But other than that, you really don't need to worry that something about it won't work just because the launcher marks it as outdated.
The launcher automatically reports everything as outdated that was not uploaded after the current patch, completely independent of whether it works or not.
I just don't intend to download and then reupload all my mods after every patch or bugfix without changing anything.
You are all welcome to add my mods to yours, create collections, reupload them somewhere else, and/or use assets (clothing/species portraits/whatever) of them for your mods.
I didn't make em for myself, but so that people can have fun with them, and if they help to create more mods for people to enjoy, it's all the better.
So yeah, that's sort of a general permission for everyone to do everything.
Of course, I would be very happy about a mention in the credits.

It is playable, I just tested it. Or do you encounter any errors?
I just didn't reply to the previous comment because "still broken" isn't something that I can work with.
So here is the current state:
The Portraits show up in the menu, they show up ingame and the clothes and animations also work.
The only thing that doesn't is that they do not show up as as AI empires. An error that also occurs with my other portrait mod. And I'm honest here when I say that I don't know how to fix this. There is no "can spawn as AI-Empire=yes/no"-option in the script when you make a mod.
The only workaround I know of is to put them into existing species categories (e.g. mammalian), where they can easily get overwritten by other portrait mods that add their portraits in the same category.
Oh and @Sol Invictus,
I am aware of the problem, it is the same as with my EvilXHuman portraits.
Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution yet because I couldn't figure out what exactly is causing this problem. :/
I hope I'm able to do something this cool when I inevitably mod Necroids. I may get in touch for some form of credited collaboration with you, whenever the DLC is out, if you're not opposed :p
As for the portraits themselves, they are a combination of hand drawing (i.e. the teeth and skin) and some snippets from screenshots and artwork of vampire lords from skyrim (like the nose, forehead and the hair piece on the back of the head) that I edited and recoloured to fit the overall look of the rest of the portrait.
The eyes are the same as the bat has, just recoloured and slightly edited.
