@That Boi, Roy! Shulk has no way to obtain planar damage currently, but it is on my list of things to do (along with many other things that shulk needs reworked lol)

Hi, I really love this mod and the ways you can configure it! Very well made and its maybe my favorite character mod as it feels the most balanced compared to most. Was wondering if there would be any updates to help with planar damage? Im revisiting the game after a long while and Im aware it exists but not sure if theres any way of achieving it within this mod?

Pretty cool mod you should update this to have his Future redeemed design or you could do the other outfits from xenoblade 1 you did pretty good maybe you could put in monado rage which makes enemies target shulk for a bit like how it is in 3 you should also rename shield to armor since monado armor is the one that reduces damage in xenoblade 1 not shield shield is the one that blocks any attack for a bit maybe you could rework shield into blocking 1 attack or a few for a while then turn armor into shield I also thought about how you could put Monado eater in something like when attacking an enemy shulk gains hunger and a little bit of hp

Yeah that’s a very valid point. Maybe gems could do something else or nothing. Thank you for spending your time to answer me I really appreciate it. Maybe there could be a benefit to Shulk fighting in a team where there could be a chain link after a while that would increase damage. Thank you though again I appreciate your mods.

Huh, I hadn't considered gem crafting as a mechanic for Shulk, tbh... It's an interesting concept, but I'm not sure how I feel about using them to enchant his Monado (and other weapons, and armor), even though that is how it works in XBC. I don't want his mod to feel too similar to Cloud's.

Shulk's visions could be a single evasion and be more animated. It could be more likely to occur and maybe reworked. Shulk could also craft items at a slightly faster rate and maybe have access to higher Science Tiers. The downsides could be that he does less damage like you implemented and maybe increases the sanity drain of the Monado and every time a vision occurs some sanity could decrease. The vegetable downside could maybe instead provide very little hunger and then less sanity as it does now. His default stats are fine and maybe he could be more vulnerable to temperature.

Buster could be a single attack that does extra damage against clockworks. Enchant could boost damage for him and his allies. Shield could prevent Shulk or his allies from taking damage from attacks that would otherwise kill them. Speed could add a chance of evasion with the speed boost. Purge could be an attack that could stun the enemy and remove planar defence. Armour could grant damage reduction. A cyclone could be an AOE attack. Eater could be an attack that removes any planar defence.

I'm such a big fan of this mod and all the others, but I noticed the difference in additions of the different character mods compared to Shulk. I was wondering if it would be possible for me could give some suggestions. I appreciate all the work you put into these mods and I feel like they are the best I have seen.

Shulk could be able to upgrade the Monado to II and III which could increase damage, range and the amount of Arts Shulk has access to. Shulk could have a menu for his arts like in Smash.

Shulk could have the arts from his game. Shulk could collect Ether crystals from rocks and boulders and that kind of stuff and could collect Ether cylinders from enemies kind of like how Cloud does with your mod and that could be used to craft gems at an Ether Furnace or be able to use the gems from DST as gems he could put in his Monado like Walter with his slingshot.

Ah, yeah, I kinda do that Monado upgrade thing myself! When I reach certain points in the game's progression, such as defeating the ancient guardian, I go into his configs and buff damage and art durations slightly, stuff like that, so I'm glad you also share that idea!

@Inigoღ Mmmmmmm, I confess, I really haven't paid much attention to the planar damage at all, so I don't have many ideas myself on how to balance it.
My original idea for the Monado's rework would be for it to be upgradable (I, II, and possibly III) which gives him increased damage at each upgrade (and other things, idk), but I know that isn't a perfect solution since many mobs resist physical damage now... Giving one of the upper upgrades planar damage might be an OK solution for that. I'm not sure if there's any easily accessible form of a "planar damage multiplier" like physical damage currently has, so I'll have to look into it for Buster/Enchant.

Ohh, Monado Purge removing planar defense would be a great solution, thank you for the suggestion! I am not sure how difficult it will be to implement, but I'll look into it when I get the time to work on Shulk's rework.

My second thought was that maybe Monado Enchant's damage boost could possibly be converted into additional planar damage, I haven't done the math myself but I think it could help, although that might be a nightmare to code. I don't have any experience or knowledge in DST coding but I'm willing to bet it won't be easy. It could also be very thematic in terms of how Monado Enchant actually works in Xenoblade 1, if you want to pretend the planar entities are similar to Mechon. The last thought I had, although also probably a nightmare to make, would be to possibly add a fifth Monado art, Monado Purge, which could temporarily strip the planar defense of nearby enemies. Do you have thoughts on this, my friend, or would you just prefer at the end game for the Shulk players to use the standard planar weapons in favor of the Monado for the foreseeable future?

One of my favorite mods of all time, thanks so much. I know you're probably too busy to update the mod or don't have any plans of doing it soon, but I would like to share some possible future suggestions, if that's okay. I usually play solo or duo and use Shulk and his Monado pretty much exclusively, however, because of this he does start to really struggle in the new end game content when it comes to planar entities and planar damage, and I was wondering if you have any future plans in mind to make Shulk more viable with the Monado late game? The first thought I had would be to make the Monado's damage full planar but that runs into the issue of Monado Buster only buffing physical attacks, so Buster as it's coded now becomes useless if that was the case, I thought it'd be cool though, thematically.

Hello Miz, Shulk seems to be causing a server crash if you try to play as Wilson in the refresh update, so long as the Shulk mod is enabled. Looks like it's related to how Shulk's custom skin is implemented. Here is the relevant log information: https://pastebin.com/qLtuMz86

Are you sure? I tested it on my end and both cooked and raw juicy berries are working properly as fruit for Shulk. Do you have any other mods that might modify food items?

some more suggestions.i feel like the monado needs higher sanity drain(like 6-7 per minute). and suggestion can you make the monado's beam change color depending on the art hes using like in xenoblade(i think it does, pjiggles just said that it did that).

Thanks for the suggestion, but the Monado is already fairly powerful as-is. Plus, being used as a "tool" doesn't fit the Monado's lore at all.

can you make it so that the monado can be used as an axe and pickaxe with a few changes.1.the axe animation is like using a chain saw and the pickaxe animation is like using a drill. 2.make them take much longer to chop trees / mine rocks.

@IgnisBellator015 By "full sanity value," I'm referring to the original/default sanity value that most other characters receive. Vegetables only restore sanity for Shulk if they originally restored sanity. I'll edit the description text to make this more clear.

Here's an example:

Bacon&Eggs, a meat item, normally restores 20 health/75 hunger/5 sanity. Since Shulk's health and sanity gain is halved, he will instead gain 10 health/75 hunger/2.5 sanity.

Butter Muffins, a vegetable, normally restores 20 health/37.5 hunger/5 sanity. Since Shulk gains 0 health and hunger but the full sanity value, he will instead gain 0 health/0 hunger/5 sanity.

@MR.toztadas Attack animation looks fine to me...? Check your other mods, they're likely causing the problem and not Shulk.

Thanks for the reply, im a huge fan of xenoblade series so this mod really helps me get into this game. Hmm i thought vegetables restore sanity..? I read this: “However, since vegetables remind him of his friends back home, he will instead gain the full sanity value.” Sorry I’m still new to this game and did not understand

@IgnisBellator015 Thank you! Carrots, cooked or raw, give 0 sanity by default, so Shulk won't gain anything from them either.
Generally the only foods that give sanity are either made in a crock pot, dried foods, or mushrooms.

Eating flower petals gives players 1 health, but as they're treated as vegetables ingame Shulk will gain nothing from eating them. (Unless you eat a dark petal, which will drain 5 sanity instead lol)

@Maruta Ohhhh, that's perfect! Previously, the only item that came close to Addam's Supercake was the powcake, but I didn't want to make that his favorite food item a twinkies knockoff.

I'll have to add in some extra code so he'll register it as a 'regular' food item and not a 'veggy' one, but this should be implemented in his next update!

I like it! Not only because Xenoblade is a heavily underrated JRPG franchise, but because this mod does a very good job at taking the team play required to get through that game and transferring it over to DST in a very interesting way.
