You can try and place units in the editor in F3 mode and only from the multiplayer (mp) menu, otherwise it will sometimes crash. If this problem only happens when using this mod, there may be some file problems between the main UMW mod, though this mod was designed for singleplayer and not editor use.
The darkness is a rather big part of the mission and, unfortunately, I could not tweak it to be brighter without messing up several other parts. Although it's built so that you can actually still see, if it's too dark for your monitor, you can try upping your screen's brightness/gamma and saturation. If it helps, there are also several flashlights stored around.
Thanks! I really appreciate the timely response.
This one's a scripting issue, there will be a patch Soon™
For now, load up a previous save and try again.
It's not a bug, mate. It's a feature.
P.S, the Plasmagun is scripted to not shoot at you, yet the AI went rogue and does so anyway- still trying to figure out why and fetch a patch.
Two of the times I played that part, by the time the Commissar had shouted charge, half my men had been plasma'd 😅
I love the characters too. Macillian is an awesome protagonist, and so is Jenson. It's like a play between Winters and Spiers from BoB. Just a shame Hatlin apparently dies at some point, since he wasn't there for the trenches after escaping the factory.
