It is irrelevant. Both should be higher than this patch, but between each other it doesn't matter.

If you're using a translation odds are the patch can't see it, as it would only look for the original mod file. Nothing I can do about that.

But as long as the translation did not drastically change any data, the patch should still function, as the data it attempts to edit should still be present. You'd just have to live with the error.

Or you can skip using the patch. The mods do not have major conflicts, this patch is simply there to add the dialog for recruiting to any of my new characters in RW. So the worst effect of not using the patch is that certain characters you won't be able to recruit as prisoners.

Does it have some specific install requirements? I mean I put it directly below RW. RW is currently sandwiched inbetween RP and this patch. It still sais that the order is wrong. It might be because I'm using the Russian translation of RW but I'm not sure...

Feel like that should be a question for the main recruit prisoners mod. Unless you have reason to think my mod is breaking them. But it shouldn't, as neither this mod or Reactive World touch the starving bandits much at all, certainly not in a way that would alter dialog.

For some reason I'm unable to recruit starving bandits, but all other races work. Any ideas? I've played with the load order but no dice

No. It's all dialog changes, which is fully save game compatible.

Apparently upon re-installation of your compatibility patch, i have been unable to replicate my previous crashes. No issues for now.

They should work fine with or without this mod. As they don't use unique character entries, just the normal Dust Bandit ones. So if you can recruit Dust Bandits, you should be able to recruit the splinter groups.

Unfortunately this compatibility patch doesn't seem to allow me to recruit dust bandits from the reaver, etc groups.

That feels like it almost has to be a mod conflict with something else, and even then I don't get why it would crash. All the mod does is add an existing dialog package to already existing characters, doesn't even add anything new itself.

What area are you switching to? And can you post the crashdump so I can investigate it?

it would appear this compatibility mod crashes my game when i switch to a squad in a different zone. when i turn this off in the start up menu, there is no crash.

Yes, Bad Teeth will stay under HN control, unless the override has already flipped.

And if the override has flipped already, it will flip back to HN after an import. As well as dialog and other world state effects still considering the HN as not being defeated yet.

@Shidan I recruited the inquisitor that runs Bad Teeth and even though Valtena and Seta is already captured, Bad Teeth still remains HN's. Do I have to kill the inquisitor?

This mod also adds the dialogs to some generic NPCs added by the mod too.

The best way to avoid issues is to not recruit unique characters with recruit prisoners at all, stick to generics.

Even avoiding this patch will not stop you from causing problems, as there are plenty if vanilla NPCs you can recruit to cause these same types of problems.

To avoid any chance of bugging my game, would it be better to not install this patch and not risk recruiting a critical NPC? RP will otherwise work normally for anything not added by Reactive?

@Shidan hey im back again to tell you that the crash mistakes are not happening anymore, i noticed that the game had maybe translation problem but like sometimes sentences in the game would be half french and half english for me, and i thought it might have been the problem with recruitable prisoners because sometimes prisoners would talk to me in both languages too, so i switched to english only in the start menu and now my game is fine with the mod, not a single crash at all when trying to talk to them, idk if it will help you at all, but at least it might help someone one day that had my problem

Generally it's a rendering error. So, race mods, animation mods, UI mods, and texture/reshade mods can all cause it in my experience.

Odds are it's another mod doing something to those NPCs. There is a rendering error crash that happens when initiating dialog with certain mods on. Unfortunately, what mods cause it and which NPCs it happens to are quite varied, so I can't help much there. :/

@Shidan Yeah it was a Triangle Bandit, Holy Nation Paladin, and a Starving Bandit that I tried it on. There is no dialogue option when they are in the cage, even if I take all of their items, and leave them in there for days.

The only mods I have installed are RW, Recruitable Prisoners, and this patch.

Did you disarm them? Are you certain the characters are from RW? If the characters are form some other mod, they'd need their own patch mod.

No, this patch should not require an import at all, it only makes dialog changes, which are fully save compatible.

Importing brings up your characters, and then optionally can bring your bases and buildings, faction relations, research, and the statuses of unique NPCs. By default no dead or imprisoned unique NPCs would respawn on import, unless you choose to change that setting.

Realized too late that I hadn't install this by the time I had my mod stack sorted out... and I'm quite fond of the progress I've made so far...

Does this patch require an import? Sorry for the newb question but: what kinds of things reset on an import? I don't want to have to deal with dead characters being alive and so forth.

@Dave - I mean, there are certainly far worse ones to recruit. Both have few important world states.

When you recruit a character, the game will continue to track their world states just like normal, even while part of your faction. So as long as you don't want the game to think that character has been defeated, you'd be fine recruiting them.

The problems arise when people recruit characters they do want defeated. For instance, they'll recruit the Dust King, but want his raids to stop as well. That's not gonna happen.

But if you say, recruit Tinfist, then want to take him and go destroy the United Cities, that would be fine. Tinfist being alive will not hinder your world states int he United Cities.

Said characters are generally pretty obvious. Faction leaders, or other prominent characters in the faction.

So for instance you wouldn't want to recruit the Phoenix, or a High Inquisitor. Nobles from the UC are also a bad idea, or a bandit leader like the Dust King.

Hmm, is there a list of these important characters one should NOT recruit. Is it possible to mod some sort of visuals to their name like instead of having `Bob` you would see `* Bob *` ?

That's not really possible. The mods are too similar, and overlap in too many places. A patch for them would be a large undertaking.

Having an issue with recruiting an "Ex-Soldier" drifter w/ ~2300 bounty. Is that possibly a missed character from this patch?
