Love the quick & easy map, but the Janitor's Trunk is missing, so whatever prizes you had in it will be gone upon returning to the office.

i typically like to keep vanilla/basic maps

i usually make what i would play, hence the basic style

i don't like to have hundreds of mods in a map making it all cluttered and hard to understand so i'm going to keep it simple simple, but i do appreciate all of the info to look back on!

Canonfodder is the best at the creepy house maps
Next map I make will probably be a new portal map as I made a working portal gun in pool of death 2
Everything in portal works in VCD without using anything from portal
We have science tzudo will speed up its development hopefully I'm not too lazy n make that for Xmas:albedothumbsup:

ive been playing this game since its 1st alpha version
way before it had multiplayer or a level editor
hence why station 7 has 90+ updates as it was the 1st map on workshop after devs did circle of doom and there was no creation guide
much easier to get used to now n once ya get the hang of it other games are fun in the level editor too weather its ue3 or ue4
ie
everything thats in the goat simulator editor kismet works in vcd's kismet both games have same engine
kinda wish more people would make stuff in vcd its actually really easy when you get used to it and the creation guide isnt too hard after watching a few youtube videos of navigating the editor
lol i still don't know how to use photoshop so i make new textures etc in paint dot net
who wants a red bin machine=it might bleed faster:)

Everyone on workshop is equal we don't fight over who has the best level

Shivalry and goat simulator forums help and so does world of dasm and some indie websites
Kf2 and RWS Devs have useful stuff but if get stuck Blackeagle is awesome:)

Ut3 unreal tournament YouTube tutorial Also helpful but only if VCD has the same stuff to use
Lots of the it stuff is missing but it works in VCD
Devin Sherry and horences have good tutorial videos for ue3 since epic deleted the ue3 forums

Faster way to learn kismet is looking at mine and fodder's maps in the editor
Wtf is that right click something select actor in Level
Right click on stuff in the map find actor in kismet
Helps fill in the gaps n shows what does what

Take your time with yours
Great 1st map will grow into an awesome 1st map
More stuff not in the guide is in the community content and the workshop forums there's even a few video tutorials and code shared by the community that can be pasted into one's map
You can copy something paste the txt into a normal notepad txt file then can also copy the kismet and paste that into another file
It saves time jumping in and out of Dev maps vs the guide

Canonfodder is great we offen help each other out and always share ideas

hey! thanks for all of the feedback! i'll definitely check out all of those tips you sent me, they are super helpful and most of them aren't even mentioned in the level making guide.

i've seen that you've made quite a few maps, that's awesome! :)

the cans n chip packets right click one of those select=select all with vcfactory whatever to select all of the trash objects type wake in the search box tick wake on rb spawn box press the pie/play button now the cans n chips n stuff will fall onto the floor=it look more real
sometimes i put bodies near the ceiling so they fall and splat blood on the floor=makes automatic mess easier:)

the player start copy it make 2 or 3 of them=when people play multiplayer they wont get stuck inside someone else when they spawn
other than that nice map so far theres no errors and all the files are in the right places and no gaps in any meshes
add that lightmass importance volume=building the lighting is faster
build the geometry and paths if change size of a volume/add more player starts etc
keep adding stuff n its gonna be a nice little map too:albedothumbsup:

also never sub to your own map if you fix n add stuff workshop deletes what ya fixed
unsub n the game deletes ya map files paste em back in from your upload copy to fix that if you subbed to your own level

stacking areas the required count is the number of say barrels in ya map
can partial stack box if ya untick that everything has to be stacked leave it on and ya dont have to stack all of em but if you do it will add a much higher score at punchout

copy a red vendor and a medkit box from another dev map
put medkit box on a wall press the play button go get a medkit n put it in the medkit box make shure the height of the medkit box is right=janitor wont bug out the lid on the medkit box=then it in right spot
try n bug the lid out open n close it n try n walk inside it once it not freak out and medkits are not crooked etc when ya replace a medkit =all good

workshop only has 2 tags

anyway have fun you got a nice 1st map here and with every update it gonna look better n better=then ya might get 5 stars rating=lol i can only get 4 stars n nobody give me 5 yet:)

if the sound in the editor stops working when you press the play button select the speaker icon near the play button to turn on realtime sound restart the editor now if ya press play the editor wont break the sound on your pc ever again=more fun when you can hear whats going on

want a j ham=copy it from a dev map n paste it=it easy way when ya trying to get the hang of the editor
just make sure you can reach high ceilings with your mop and no gaps in your meshes then welder fire wont go outside your map if janitor sets everything on fire:vcdbucket:

in large open spaces or really big rooms copy a reverb volume from the jungle map pates in your map use geometry mode to scale it to fit big room etc=it makes the sound way better
if you want say evil science ambient sounds copy the things that look like red speakers with an arrow=paste em in you map now it sounds like evil science

make sure map has a lightmass importance volume it has the whole map inside it
if didn't add one of those use the red cube brush turn geometry mode on scale the red box to cover everything so it inside the box go to add volume and select lightmass importance volume
click the cube on the left to make the builder brush small cube again=rebuild your lighting=its 10 times faster than it used to be. only 1 of those has to be in ya map so things like the welder dont disappear on ya when you throw em:)

take your sweet time and keep at that level guide=making maps in this game is lots of fun
disable the autosave in the editor bottom right corner put grid size 1% rotation 90 scale as low as it goes and untick its box=makes placing meshes much easier:albedothumbsup:
have fun and only use the save as option to save ya map=less chane of breaking the game by accident but press dont save if it asks to save something that is not the name of your map file and you wont break the game=more fun making maps less time swearing at the game:vcdsign:

if you want better lights sometimes it easy to copy em from the dev maps same way ya copy the incinerator. if lights are too bright the blood looks like red paint=lower the brightness a tiny bit if you copy a light from evil science (medbay.udk) then the blood loos more real.
if you dont want floating bodies or objects right clik the object open its properties type Wake in the search box and tick the flag=wake on rb spawn then body or barrel etc will fall and ragdoll it makes bodies look more real too:albedothumbsup:
nice 1st map if you update it you edit and save the game copy then ya copy the udk file and paste it in your upload copy then ya start rustmk2 select ya map and write what ya fixed in the changes box and hit that update button=practices makes perfect

PID's/USB sticks to add those the easy way open caduceus like in dev creation guide
copy a usb stick open your map and paste here to put it next to a body raise it off the floor abit so it wont get stuck in the floor.open its properties tick boxes that best match the reports boxes you ticked in mymapinfo as well as how the body died.if the name is blank you get random names. copy new pid and paste next to another body and tick its cause of death boxes give a name etc pate another one and repeat.
savesetup none in mymapinfo go to savesetup click blue arrow select the vcsavegamesetup=done
look at the guide for stacking areas its like copying the incinerator but if you copy incinerator dont copy the one in caduceus its buggy copy the incinerator from a different dev map

Good for just getting the hang of stuff. I'd suggest adding medkits and stacking to boost past the 100% completion rate, PIDs also provide a little extra, so maybe toss some of them in too. Maybe a few small details like putting light meshes where the light sources are n stuff. Also missing the save file setup in the "mymapinfo" section.
Looking forward to seeing a new mapper get some cool ideas up!:vcdjanitor:
