Remorse

Great puzzle. My thinking went I need a way to get the laser in the receptor and knock it off but then switch it on again without the use of portals. Must be the press button vanishing trick. The position of the buttons hinted that you needed to vanish one then the other, so a stack seemed the only way.

Just another awsome chamber from Mevious. Love it. Took me an hour or so to figure it out. Perfect. My solution: https://youtu.be/ADhrU7YDvsI

I played this map a second time 8 years later, and it got me again! It took an hour! Oh the humanity...

Your desperate maps and the game's weird BGM make me feel like a real Aperture Tech employee.
gaden002 28 Dec, 2023 @ 10:19am
Wow, that took me a while. Near the end, I thought I had it, but failed, then I thought "How the hell can I...Oh, well, shit!"

Aww, I missed a cube stacking opportunity. I just placed the normal cube in front of the laser cube in such a way they were both off centre and the lasercube could shine past the normal cube into the recepticle. And with the lasercube gone the normal cube was still blocking the laser . Well, at least it made the platform ride a bit smoother.

Quite complicated and satisfying to solve. However, I am not really a fan of 'clever tricks' although it is part of the game of course. When you find out that washing off the blue paint from the cube in the water is quite cumbersome.... you have to think about other ways to solve this.... Like vallibus said in 2020: "The only "Remorse" I feel is for how long it took me to solve this map."

The repulsion gel shower could be replaced by one of those relatively new yellow fizzler fields.

Tough one - very devious. I love these that are so hard, but yet don't rely on quick timing or fast reflexes really.
CoffeeCoder 5 Apr, 2022 @ 7:31am
Wow, that was a challange. Incredible.
waghihgaghhhhn 28 Sep, 2021 @ 5:34am
it has lots of operation to do . i like your map /
thomaskahootmaster 6 Jul, 2021 @ 6:22pm
Outstanding
Spider_Dawg 5 Dec, 2020 @ 4:05pm
Took me a long time to see the light, even though I'd seen it previous to Mevious. Although most likely authored later than this map. Great puzzle.
vallibus 4 Dec, 2020 @ 12:35pm
The only "Remorse" I feel is for how long it took me to solve this map. Very nice.

Ugh, I'm such a sucker for clever cube stacks. Great puzzle!
bullfrog 9 May, 2020 @ 12:33am
Still a great puzzle: simple to execute, but not easy to see.
c4shurik 2 Apr, 2020 @ 8:19am
Brilliantly!
nobbers 30 Nov, 2019 @ 1:26pm
Yup, this one is a true masterpiece! Kudos Mevious!!!!!!!
annexia3000 22 Nov, 2019 @ 9:36pm
One of the best I've played. I've been playing these for years and this is the first time I felt the need to comment. Really made you think. Very satisfying.
Tidus 7 Oct, 2019 @ 6:34pm
Medvious! You are simple on of the best!!!
j0lizzy 12 Sep, 2019 @ 5:52pm
One of the few maps of yours I've played that I didn't need any hints. Very satisfying to figure it out on my own.
canticle 9 Sep, 2019 @ 12:15am
What a great puzzle! Got stuck twice. Got past the first when I looked at this page and saw what competition it was submitted for--redirected my thinking in the right direction, for the second, I had the right general idea of what had to happen, but a failed attempt showed me that things were in the wrong place. That lead to the right place, but then "I can't do all that from here"-- but then idea of cube stacking dawned--Brilliant!
Calwin 8 Sep, 2019 @ 11:54am
Yes! Figured it out. One of the best puzzles I've played.
peepee mongler 9000 7 May, 2019 @ 9:29pm
Honestly, this solution just stuck with me. Very cool, Ive always wondering what the thinking process for Mevious is when he makes any map
Teo 25 Apr, 2019 @ 12:31pm
tricky tricky
Lawrax 23 Apr, 2019 @ 11:25am
OK, that is devilish but I got a real feeling of accomplishment when I solved it!
tapmage 30 Nov, 2018 @ 4:41pm
Yay! Solved it. Took forever.
Tannco 13 Nov, 2018 @ 3:38am
faulking clever
Nobody No-One 25 Aug, 2018 @ 8:53pm
Brilliant map. I must confess I had to play the map mentioned in @bullfrog's spoiler before this one clicked. I was so close but I was just missing one maneuver. Really good map. Thumbs up and favorited.
Leo 16 Aug, 2018 @ 11:18am
Amazing map, very clever!
Jeff Albertson 28 Jul, 2018 @ 1:19pm
wow. maybe it was just that i didnt play this game for a long time. but it took me about an hour.
creative solutions are important for most mevious puzzles but this one even actually seeing what has to happen is fairly easy, but the way to execute it slipped by me for quite a bit

good job for this one
freddy 4 Jul, 2018 @ 9:04am
awesome thx so much hapiness for solving this clever test
uwu 9 Dec, 2017 @ 5:33pm
Don't read the comments on any community map before solving them. Don't let the spoiler tags fool you into thinking everyone here uses it.

PyroGuy you massive ass twat. Thanks for robbing me of the satisfaction of solving this great puzzle.
bullfrog 24 Sep, 2017 @ 12:20am
Brilliant puzzle, thumbs up and added to favourites. Luckily for me, I played @camerson1313’s ’Perplex 2 Intro’ (posted 16 Mar, 2014) map yesterday so the concept was fresh in my mind – it would have definitely taken me much longer otherwise!
Steve3Dx 20 Aug, 2017 @ 1:05pm
needed some hints, wish I could have done it on my own, oh will, can do most of yours though, maybe 80 or 90% of your maps withough hints.
thompson004 19 Aug, 2017 @ 11:52am
holy shit, this was hard as fuck. You'd never think of this...but when you do..:steamhappy:
Ou 2 Aug, 2017 @ 5:49am

CLQ 20 Jul, 2017 @ 1:21pm

Fumbly Bumbly 19 Jun, 2017 @ 3:23am
Wonderfully diabolical. Huge thumbs up and added to my favourites!
MmmmmmhHHHhhhhhhmmmm 25 Apr, 2017 @ 3:45am
That is so fun and clever. Felt satisfying solving it.

Why the blue gel and not a fizzler? Just for the heck of it?

And I would suggest adding surfaces all the way to the wall in the area you end up in before going through the tunnel of goom. It's really minor, but I kept falling down when walking backwards trying to get an overview of the chamber.
averagegamer17 20 Mar, 2017 @ 11:10pm
Do you know who else murders people who are only trying to help them? Did you guess 'sharks'? Because that's wrong. The correct answer is 'nobody.' Nobody but you is that pointlessly cruel.
Jarsmin 7 Mar, 2017 @ 7:18am
this map makes me crazy in my streaming and i was stand there and think"why mevious made such a diffcult map?!!!",and after i solve it,i have to say,you are fucking genius:conwayfacepalm:

I can´t believe I didn't see these when i last played Portal 2! Completely astounding! I was so puzzled. I had to resign here too! The good thing is that one learns a lot watching the wt-s!
PixelPerfect 9 Oct, 2016 @ 6:50am
That is so cool! Thumbs up and favorited!
