This used to be my favorite heavy lift ship, and even early game mobile base. Hopefully JRandall can find the time to update or design the next in the line.

Tonight I put her through her paces. Loaded with a Rook and a Legioneer, she deadlifted both on a 1G planet, fully loaded with loot, completely vertical at 45m/s. This girl is a beast.

She is a beautiful ship that has had a lot of love put into her. I spawned her tonight after days of mining.

Great ship, has anyone updated this for RE 1.8 yet? I have been trying but I am butchering it so far.

Been using this on my first playthrough on RE. Made a few changes including the addition of solar panels replacing the rear landing pad. This ship is a masterpiece for whats its intended todo. Thx for your hard work Jrandall!

The real reason I am posting is because I made the mistake of landing hard on a lava planet with autobrake off. Planet was at 4.3 Earths gravity. I had a HV, 3 SVs and about 7 320k containers fully loaded. With determination I was able to takeoff using a combination of upwards and forward thrust movement (wasnt able to takeoff straight up). I also had to cycle the afterburners a few times. A good lesson learned that cost me some extra time and alot of fuel, but at least I wasnt stranded.

The Carapace still lives! Kool rebuild. The original was the first "big" Cv i saved my ores for. mahalo

OMG, this is huge! I spawned one to check it out. I couldn't find the teleporter. It would be easy to get lost in this carrier that's a big as a space station! It would make a good space or Planetary station. I love it and whoa, all that storage! This was obviously done with love and attention to detail. Well done indeed. :)

I Loved Merc-MX3, the Asteria a lot, the Kriel Shade as a starter CV a little later and now this one. She makes it more than ok ! Really fun and very useful. Even more after i added a set of modules to mine asteroïds. Thanks for this excellent creation

I put some extra Fuel tanks in some spaces of the cargo for more perfomance.

And i work in put some lateral doors for dock more ships.

Built this in creative and choosing between this or the Draper is becoming difficult for my next big SP CV build. BTW, that Leviathan absolutely blew my mind

Loving this beast, reminds me of the Eagle Transporter ( albeit a fat one ) in space 1999 the series. Followed the instructions in the hangar to upgrade to RE and it turns on a dime. Also added more fuel tanks near the mid ramp next to the cargo bays for that extra offline time. Another ship to the JR collection

I stay by what i said, and this is not a troll account, why would you say so ? I've got a meager 1800 hr on EGS. I'am sorry if the last post was taken like i was attacking or blaming you, it was not my intention to do so.

Nice. I like how the rear vehicle door is big enough for the big HVs and SVs with no problems. also, the low drone/exit hatch near the captain's chair is really useful. I haven't done the upgrades yet. The old carapace's were good, and this one really continues the tradition.

@Numonar, oh really? lol. That is pretty amazing and load of total crap. Not only can it lift off on a 1G planet with all 24 320K storage controllers full without the 4 additional XL thrusters added, it can do it (barely) on a 4G planet as well. So all I can say is your game is broken or (ok iam not gona write about the newly created troll account you are using) LOL. BTW, maybe you don't realize that the ship has some test videos showing it working as well as been used for around 40 hours on a live stream now on a RE server with weights and volumes on showing completely different results as to what you describe. If you are going to troll, at least do a tid bit of research first.

Iam sorry to say, but this big boat isnt ready for RE/RG. I've upgraded it to the max you specified it. It can barly lift off of 1G planets with 1/3 of its cargo space filled up, its max speed in space down to 26mps not reaching warp min velocity. Not to speak about its ridiculous standby power consumption of about ( ok iam not gona write 3kw) LOL. but yeah, fully utilyzing this beast, not possible with the current design.

Dang, been away for a while, but this is impressive.

jrandall, this has become my favorite hauler/cargo in the game so much I designed my I8-ITOL MkII around it. It fits perfectly along the long part of the landing deck, and the massive storage on the Carapace is the only ship that can handle my 7 320k storage to dump into. :) Would love to show a picture of them together, but wanted to check with you first before I did. I will of course give a link and credit to the Carapace.

Hi JR, love your builds! Some feedback on this one - have been using on high grav planets in Project Eden 1.2. When alighting from helm - it has on several occasions ejected me to outside the ship- either above or below the ship - if above - is ok, under = big problem esp if positioned over a lava lake Keep up the awesome work!

Didn't even need to see the creator or workshop registry to know who built this before I knew just by looking at it's designs.

Another fine example of Jrandell's mind hard at the creation process, truly you have a style about your designs that is yours alone.
