@Princess Stabbity I understand, thanks for the reply!

@Khaine: Sorry... At this point, it would need a complete redo. Maybe one day but I can't commit to it currently >.<
Kaine 4 May, 2024 @ 4:48am
Still hoping for an update :(
Princess Stabbity  [author] 30 Oct, 2022 @ 5:31pm
Mhm... I definitely need to take another look at it. I can't promise anything right now because I'm juggling a lot of other projects, but hopefully I can figure out what to do with this mod by the time i get around to CK3 stuff again.
Kaine 18 Oct, 2022 @ 9:51am
Any chance for an update? Doesn't seem to be working anymore.
Wolfen 2 Apr, 2022 @ 1:02pm
Thank you, finally i can get rid of this disgusting make up on my Ladies.
Henriette 20 Feb, 2022 @ 1:30pm
totally understand tbh
Princess Stabbity  [author] 20 Feb, 2022 @ 11:07am
@Henry Plantagenet: I've decided to wait. Both vanilla and EPE have been implementing a lot of changes lately and I don't want to play catch-up, so it would be better to wait for the situation to stabilise and then see if/how I could make them compatible.
Henriette 17 Feb, 2022 @ 12:13pm
Has the EPE conflict been figured out? No worries if not yet of course
Princess Stabbity  [author] 13 Feb, 2022 @ 6:16pm
Well, it's not as big problem as I originally thought. It seems like the biggest issues are with the starting characters (probably because their DNA wasn't updated to account for the new sliders) but it does seem to sort itself out a few generations in.
Chris 12 Feb, 2022 @ 12:06pm
@Khaine: it's a vanilla bug - Paradox changed the way the eye DNA sliders work to improve the Asian ethnicities, but forgot to account this for the rest of the world. They've also added a new anti-aliasing for characters, which (in my opinion) makes them look worse.
Princess Stabbity  [author] 11 Feb, 2022 @ 6:18pm
@MCRumcajs: Hmm... I haven't yet had a look at what's changed with EPE for the expansion, but if there is a conflict, it's probably better if EPE overrides this mod than the other way around. I'll look into it when I have a free moment.
Kaine 11 Feb, 2022 @ 3:06pm
@Princess Stabbity I was wondering if it was somehow related to my mods or not... Every starting character looks terrible. I hope they will fix it because I can't even look at some of them lol. I also have a problem that I can't toggle the trait effects from the character menu.
MCRumcajs 11 Feb, 2022 @ 11:16am
hey, I have a problem - I can't disable beauty complexion with EPE enabled. Is it dependant on load order or are they just incompatible?
Princess Stabbity  [author] 8 Feb, 2022 @ 6:25pm
In case anyone is wondering why the entire population of the planet suddenly became hideous (I mean, more than usual), that appears to be a vanilla issue introduced in 1.5 that I'm currently unable to trace. Hopefully Paradox addresses it on their end, but if they don't, I'll keep trying to see if it... can be fixed somehow.

UPDATE
The mod has been updated and should be safe to use with 1.5.0!
Princess Stabbity  [author] 8 Feb, 2022 @ 9:10am
HAPPY ROYAL COURT DAY!

Please keep in mind that our mods are probably outdated and keeping them active may lead to issues! Updating may take some time (we need to play the new version first!) so we would appreciate if you could deactivate them in the meantime <3
Princess Stabbity  [author] 31 Dec, 2021 @ 7:34am
@Henry Plantagenet: That's the file that controls the range that various sliders are allowed to randomise and also determines the clamp values that Beauty Traits impose on sliders. This mod changes some of those clamp values to diversify the facial structures of "beautiful" characters a little.
Henriette 30 Dec, 2021 @ 7:09pm
Hey stabbity, can you help me understand why this mod touches 00_ethnicities_templates? I'm trying to learn from your mod to teach myself more modding.
Princess Stabbity  [author] 21 Dec, 2021 @ 5:04pm
@Kod: Yes, I use EPE too and there never seemed to be any issues.
Kod 20 Dec, 2021 @ 12:59am
Does this work with EPE?

@Beyond Disbelief: I was thinking of doing just that next update. The mod started as a personal debug tool before I decided to share it so it didn't bother me, but I should definitely make it less obnoxious in the UI.
Beyond Disbelief 22 Aug, 2021 @ 7:49pm
Could you move the decision into a personal category or as part of the portrait editor interaction? I'm a little OCD in terms of not wanting to see the giant pink DEBUG text during my gameplay.

@Milk-Based Sauce: Oh, I haven't checked for conflicts with it yet but, yes, it's very likely EPE.
I use it myself so I'll see about some kind of compatibility solution, if needed.
The Eunuch 8 Jul, 2021 @ 4:53pm
I haven't been able to get the in-game Beauty Makeup Toggle to work. The option shows under debug in the character interaction menu, but selecting it shows no effect on the character portraits. The only other mod I have that might be conflicting would be Ethnicities and Portraits Expansion, which isn't listen among known conflicts, and I have this mod below that one in my load order. Any ideas?
EnumaEllis 4 Jun, 2021 @ 10:36am
Gotcha! I was looking for that slider range change, since the beauty trait do revert them to the middle.
Princess Stabbity  [author] 4 Jun, 2021 @ 9:32am
@EnumaEllis: It doesn't change the base appearance of characters, but if any of the beauty traits are on a character, it will affect certain aspects differently than it does in vanilla. Vanilla tends to push all sliders towards the middle, resulting in characters sometimes looking very samey. This mod expands the range that "beautiful" sliders can have, hopefully creating less uniform faces in the process.
EnumaEllis 3 Jun, 2021 @ 10:47pm
Does this affect the Beauty structure of the face, like jaws and head width?
Nilserrich 3 Apr, 2021 @ 3:31am
I think the incompatibility should be pretty easy to fix. Since Nobles Improved only changes a single line in the mentioned file. Something about complexions. What exactly that does I don't know.
Rhaeven 16 Mar, 2021 @ 5:28pm
Thank you for your work in updating your mods, as always :winter2019happyyul:
Princess Stabbity  [author] 16 Mar, 2021 @ 11:00am
UPDATE!
It turned out to be relatively painless! The mod should now be compatible with CK3 version 1.3.0+

Please keep in mind that the minimum requirements have changed as well: version 1.3.0 or above is now required for Subtle Beauty to function correctly.
Princess Stabbity  [author] 16 Mar, 2021 @ 10:14am
Here's the standard Patch Day disclaimer that we need a some time to test our mods and update them as necessary. If nothing goes wrong, hopefully a 1.3-compatible version of the mod will go up in a few hours!
Princess Stabbity  [author] 9 Dec, 2020 @ 4:52am
@Poldl: That's all up to texture mods, like Fair Ladies or Character Beautification. This mod doesn't change how the makeup looks, it only lets you turn it on and off.
Poldl 8 Dec, 2020 @ 7:51pm
Can't wait to try this! I wonder if it would be possible to change the color of the lips? It's so orange, something more natural towards red and pink would be perfect. I know this is how it looks in vanilla though, it's not your fault!
Princess Stabbity  [author] 28 Nov, 2020 @ 6:41pm
Oh yes, events seem to have their own overwriting rules. I think Stellaris events behave the same way because I vaguely remember being annoyed by something in that department a long long time ago. There's probably a reason I suppressed that memory XD
Nope 28 Nov, 2020 @ 6:32pm
That could be the case on art assets actually. I just know it's not for code files, especially events.
Princess Stabbity  [author] 28 Nov, 2020 @ 6:32pm
Update:
In other news, I just pushed out a little update to the mod that introduces a bit more fine-tuning to individual genes when under the effect of Beauty Traits.
Rather than all genes being subject to the same set of constraints, there are now two different ranges. Head geometry will be slightly more controlled which should generally lead to Beautiful/Pretty/Comely faces being softer and resulting in fewer instances of skeletal cheekbones, elongated chins and such.
On the other hand, major facial features, primarily eyes and lips, will have more variety, with a subtle bias towards fuller lips and lower mouth width on average.
Princess Stabbity  [author] 28 Nov, 2020 @ 6:19pm
In my experience, manual load order does still matter, although it might depend on what kind of files are being overriden. I can at least confirm that raw art assets obey the load order so textures loaded later should take precedence.
Nope 28 Nov, 2020 @ 5:25pm
I'd like to point out that load order sadly doesn't matter with ck3 mods. It's entirely based on dependencies listed in the .mod and alphabetical/numerical load order. I've had to work around this a lot with my own mods and making them compatible.
baneagony 28 Nov, 2020 @ 4:12pm
Thanks for the quick response I load your mod and fair ladies last so I can solely benefit from some of the lighting from NI. Everything is working nice and the ladies are satisfactory. Thanks for your work!
Princess Stabbity  [author] 28 Nov, 2020 @ 3:50pm
Inferno™: I took a look at Nobles Improved just now and it looks like it also overrides 00_ethnicities_templates.txt.

This mod modifies the ethnicities file in order to relax the slider constraints imposed by beauty traits. If you load NI after this mod, the face morphs will presumably behave as per vanilla (unless NI also changes that, I didn't check). Otherwise, my changes will take precedence.

Nobles Improved also seems to replace complexion textures the same way as Fair Ladies, which means that the game will be using whichever textures are loaded last.

Regardless of load order, it seems like neither of those mods should interfere with the beauty complexion toggle, so at least that should always be available.
baneagony 28 Nov, 2020 @ 2:51pm
When using mods like Nobles Improved and Fair Ladies, is there a recommended load order you have? This mod seems to mess with some of the make-up specifically from Nobles Improved, not that I'm complaining of course.
Nope 28 Nov, 2020 @ 8:55am
Good to know, it looks like adjusting those global variable values worked across the board for me though. I didn't have to make changes to any of the other ethnicity files.
Princess Stabbity  [author] 28 Nov, 2020 @ 6:05am
@Nope: I'm happy someone noticed that so soon! On one hand I can't believe I copied the wrong file over, on the other, I can totally believe that XD Anyways, I just uploaded the correct version of the file.

That said, my version does still contain some constraints (it's about 0.15 difference from vanilla in both directions) so if you want to disable the trait's effect on constraints completely, you might still want to go ahead with your mod, and look into editing the other ethnicity files as well, since they also contain constraints but I intentionally decided to leave those be for compatibility reasons.
Nope 28 Nov, 2020 @ 5:52am
No problem, I just didn't want to upload another mod that does the same thing if your intention was to fix both problems!
Princess Stabbity  [author] 28 Nov, 2020 @ 5:44am
@Nope: Ooops! I see what happened now! I was initially considering releasing the constraint changes and complexion toggle as two separate mods but then changed my mind and decided to merge them. Apparently I didn't actually merge them XD

Thank you for letting me know! Fixing it now!
Nope 27 Nov, 2020 @ 11:12am
I'm not sure if you had a change you meant to make to that file and it got lost in the shuffle or what not but I thought I'd let you know that the file currently is an exact copy of the base game resource. I was able to fix this by changing the values in the 00_ethnicities_templates.txt file as follows:
@beauty1min = 0
@beauty1max = 1.0

@beauty2min = 0
@beauty2max = 1.0

@beauty3min = 0
@beauty3max = 1.0
