I agree with everyone, it's straight forward and easy/medium should be the difficulty ! Also, the cramped layout didn't bother me.

I'm not sure I agree with the difficulty rating on this one. The puzzle is pretty straight forward (assuming you're comfortable with the different types of fizzlers). I think the complexity of this one lies in the crapped spacing of elements and walk-ways.

I agree with SteemStream. The stuff was staight-forward, but the cramped layout made it a bit painful to execute. Keep up your work! :)

Thanks for playing my tests and providing feedback! I do plan on making more tests and improving my designs!

Wasn't too much a fan of this one. Everything felt pretty cramped, and what was done in the puzzle was relatively basic and linear. I wouldn't really rate it medium/hard. I have played your most recent map and think that you have been improving in puzzle design though, so keep it up! :)

Cool easy chamber, but turning off laser damage would be nice

It is hard to notice that you can actually place portals below the smoke fields, you should add some more portal surfaces down there.

Yeah this level is a bit ninja!
quatrus 3 Jan, 2021 @ 7:19am
I felt a bit out of line doing the run to get the first cube thinking it is usually not on an intended path. After that then all fell into place. Ninja alert would have helped maybe. Thanks for creating.

Took a bit to figure out the connections but I solved it just the same as bullfrog. Good work.

@Runners Are Illegal: Don't feel stupid! Actually, it WAS part of the original solution, until bullfrog made me realize what's shown in the walkthrough. Needless to say I felt stupid myself 😄

I feel stupid after completing this, like I thought that the podeum was just a cool design just only to throw me into the waste. Good map tho
PeterLucas  [author] 30 Nov, 2020 @ 8:50am
Hmm I see. So a good way to counter this is to place dispensers high enough?
amieres 30 Nov, 2020 @ 8:36am
You need to catch the new cube before it releases from the dispenser and move it around a bit. Sometimes 2 cubes are dispensed when you do that. If not, press the button and try again. It is mostly a hack/bug.

Thanks amieres, very much appreciated! I'm curious how you got 2 regular cubes though?

The sendificator isn't a common item, so lots of people don't know what it does. I have a tutorial level on it called "In the Lab: Sendificator", but then again people need to read the description before playing the level, and most don't I believe.
amieres 29 Nov, 2020 @ 3:40am
Finished it. I did not know the Sendificator so I half solved it by getting 2 regular cubes from the regular cube dispenser by rattling it a bit, and then thought about throwing one of those to the beam but it was going to be tough. So I watched a walkthrough and discovered the Sendificator. Fun chamber.

I just published a new challenging map called Under the Lab for those who enjoyed this one! Big thanks to bullfrog for playtesting!
PeterLucas  [author] 27 Nov, 2020 @ 7:10am
Oh I like what you did there with the bridge at the start! That's how you didn't have to do ninja skill no2. Actually I prefer your versionbetter and might change my official walkthrough because of it lol

Cube throwing isn't required to complete the puzzle, but it doesn't ruin it if you do it!

Thanks for the info! Will try fixing this later or else add the laser collision code you mentionned.

Good puzzle, thumbs up. Playing its predecessor definitely helped one part, assuming I did that bit as intended! I think “Ninja skills required:” No 1. helped the player, after they’ve finished, to check that what they had done was actually intended and not an exploit; No 2. I’m not sure about as I don’t think I did that, unless I misunderstand what you mean. Anyway; an enjoyable puzzle - this is the way I did it: intended solution ? Oh, and until you find out how to do it automatically, you could put a note in the description for the player to open the console and type sv_player_collide_with_laser 0 if they want.

...will try it again when not tired.

You can watch sheepdog's blind playthrough below (or my official walkthrough in the description) if you've given up but still curious 😛

Challenge Accepted! I gave up!
It was at least worth a shot
PeterLucas  [author] 25 Nov, 2020 @ 6:32pm
Thanks for your comment and the blind playthough! It's always fun to watch and I learned a lot by watching you!

Cube throwing is definitely not part of the puzzle, I wasn't aware you could use it to this extent, I'm not very good at it myself. I'll definitely keep this in mind for future puzzles.

I just updated the puzzle to push back the tractor beam so you can't reach it by throwing (I hope it's far enough lol). I tried putting a grating but it made the environment less appealing, so I just hop you can't reach it lol.

I wasn't able to fix the other cube throwing situations without ruining the level design, but they don't really ruin the puzzle experience so it's okay. I'll just keep that in mind for the future

I tried deactivating laser collision but it doesn't seem to be working. I'll keep trying until it works.

blind playthrough https://youtu.be/gxhSuCZqEHg I solved it too different ways, the second way was intended and first doesn't really count. I like the reuse of the test, it has a surprising amount of challenge. I would say its a medium test.
