Thanks for the explanation! You can assume that this exploit is never "allowed" in my levels.

"floating glass cube" = Source engine glitch.
Stack an rc on another cube, put a laser through the rc, then remove the bottom
cube. The rc will float in the air until the laser is removed or interrupted.

Thanks for playing my level! Not sure what you mean by "floating glass cube" though.

You should probably do something to let the player know that they have to get the regular cube first. Also I assume you are not supposed to make a floating glass cube at the end?

Thanks! Really proud of this level!

Very nice sendificator map - thanks for creating.

I struggled at first to get the reflector cube out but once I got going it all went pretty smoothly. Nice job all around with this one.

Well thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it and that I was able to change your mind a bit about the Portal 1 style! Thanks for the playthrough, you can do it faster than me lol

Unfortunately, I haven't been unable to turn laser collision off, must be the bee2 version I'm using.

This is a very good puzzle, my compliments. Clever and cool moves, was fun figuring out. The map is well designed too. I don't really like the Portal 1 style that much, but it turned out well here. In my solution, I did two things a little differently: I didn't use the purple fizzler at all and to bring the RC out, I put the normal cube in the funnel into a loop and thus always blocked the laser (I particularly like this idea) .

I recorded my way - here is the playthrough: https://youtu.be/1-eJYNWmSgE

Note: If you turn the laser collision off and use the magnet on the half portal surfaces, it would be smoother for the players.

i can't give any ratings for a few days because I have changed my steam password. As soon as it is possible again I will do it.

@jgaultney: Thank you for your kind comment! I'm really glad that you enjoyed it!

@sheepdog: Thanks! I always love watching your blind playthroughs! Hearing your impressions, seeing your reactions to what's there, it's always fun and usually helpful for me as a map maker!

blind playthrough https://youtu.be/3kCLGOohFFo Lot of interesting concepts in this test!

A fantastic chamber! Took me a long time to get the reflector cube. :) :bigups: and Fav'ed.

Haha, especially with larger tests it can be a process to fix the unintended paths. I think it took a consecutive four people to play afterburner until I had fully patched that one. Of course I might just be really unobservant, so hey.

Ah! I'll blame Bullfrog for not seeing this one! 😄

Thanks! Puzzle already fixed for both issues you mentionned.

Here's a video I recorded, I realize it is hard to describe these things sometimes.

https://youtu.be/Yglkewj8Atc

I managed to do this before pressing the button in the sendificator room, leading me to backtrack there after solving the funnel ceiling button room. It feels like a minor sequence break.

Hope this helps!

Hey! Thanks for your very kind comments, very much appreciated! And the goal of the first room was exactly what you said.

Regarding the reflector cube issue you mentionned, it seems that if you managed to get the reflector cube into the funnel, you pretty much solved that part of the puzzle, no? But maybe I don't quite get what you mean. Perhaps a video could show me?

I think I'll enlarge the entry to the sendificator room, same size as the others. Should fix the issue you mentionned.

Oh man the solution to this one is really clever! I feel like you found your testing element with the sendificator. I also like the stylistic flourish in the first chamber, it works as an organic tutorial for the orange field and gives you a sense you're descending beneath the lab.

There's a semi-unintended way to get the reflective cube out of the sendificator room by walking onto the purple field and grabbing it out of the funnel, but that feels like a fixable issue

Just some minor structural notes - I wonder if the chamber could benefit from being broken up into smaller sections. I spent a lot of time in my playthrough wandering around and didn't even realize there was a way to portal into the sendificator room for a while. If there was a way to structurally center that room it might increase the overall clarity of the test.

Those are just my thoughts though, overall I found this to be a great chamber. I'm really enjoying the in the lab series!
