Quick question. why does it only show the middle of my map? it doesnt follow my ship. why is this?
kev4ev 28 May, 2023 @ 2:17am
If author would open his page details, we could check whether he uploaded to the Workshop a MoBo for the new radar/sonar. But currently we only can ask here: update...? will this ever...? Is it still possible...?
Ranazomic 8 Jul, 2022 @ 11:18pm
Is it still possible to help testing it with the new radar?
EndoSkull 1 Mar, 2022 @ 8:23pm
Nice job - gonna test this for use with a sub hunter for a live event - likely unhook sonar as it is too powerful for wwii :) How t the new version any benefits?
*DarkStar 18 Nov, 2021 @ 2:23pm
i would love to help
XLjedi  [author] 14 Nov, 2021 @ 7:33am
@DarkStar Yes, and anyone interested in testing the new radar with MoBo just leave me a note.
XLjedi  [author] 25 Oct, 2021 @ 3:21am
Good to hear sonar works. I will try to look at the radar to see what they did.
sarobertson7 24 Oct, 2021 @ 2:25am
well out side the radar the sonar works just fine. though ran into the issue of trying to connect the radar, mostly because im god awful with logic so i have no clue. find the perfect map for my ship and then they mess up the radars......
XLjedi  [author] 18 Oct, 2021 @ 8:29am
@DarkStar Depends how badly they mangled the radar/sonar function. I'll try to take a look at it in the next few days. Hopefully, it still has a sweeping function, same as previous.
*DarkStar 12 Oct, 2021 @ 7:39pm
Will this ever be updated to the new radar and sonar system?
XLjedi  [author] 5 Oct, 2021 @ 2:40pm
@puipuix I was afraid someone would ask that... now I may have to look at it again. The only thing I had left working in Stormworks was a radar system, and they managed to even break that.
puipuix 5 Oct, 2021 @ 2:16pm
Update for the new radar ?
XLjedi  [author] 2 Jul, 2021 @ 6:52pm
The LUA code fix was relatively simple, so if you'd rather just make the code change as opposed to reconnecting MoBo in your craft... I explain how to do the bug fix in the ELT discussion. Just take a look at the "Discussions" tab above under the ELT topic.
XLjedi  [author] 2 Jul, 2021 @ 6:05pm
Wow, I'm impressed! ...that was a legit bug that I don't think anyone has noticed. Introduced when I added the ability to auto-detect monitor size. If you wouldn't mind checking it now? Just make sure you have the latest revision dated 7/2/21. You might have to restart your game. Should radiate from center now as intended. You might be the only one who appreciates how the ELT plotter is supposed to work! :lunar2019smilingpig:
XLjedi  [author] 2 Jul, 2021 @ 5:30pm
Yeah, something goofy there, I can see the map rings are off. The map rings should radiate from center, so something got screwed up.
XLjedi  [author] 2 Jul, 2021 @ 5:20pm
Could be something with a recent update... I'll look at it.
TaliaKuznetsova 2 Jul, 2021 @ 4:04pm
The example does NOT work. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/359327570740772874/860657091244326962/unknown.png as you can see in this image the red line is offcenter. But the green line is going to the center of the mission zone.
XLjedi  [author] 2 Jul, 2021 @ 4:01pm
If the example works, check your GPS hookup to see if the x, y readings are reversed.
XLjedi  [author] 2 Jul, 2021 @ 3:58pm
@ Talia... sounds odd. Let me ask this, does the example file using the large monitor appear offcenter for you? Which monitor are you trying to use? Also, how fast is your craft moving? Could be some error introduced if you are moving at very high speeds (like in a jet).
TaliaKuznetsova 2 Jul, 2021 @ 3:57pm
I was using the maximum size monitor. I'll try the example real quick.
TaliaKuznetsova 29 Jun, 2021 @ 10:52pm
For some reason my ELT is causing the rings to not appear with the ship in the center. They are far off to the side for some reason. Any idea why?
TeXeL 5 Jun, 2021 @ 6:12am
Not even mounted this on a ship yet but damn, well done, just playing with the example is amazing.
XLjedi  [author] 27 Apr, 2021 @ 8:33am
@Stale Baguette you would need to edit the LUA script files to remove the text drawing commands from the OnDraw method. I purposefully left the LUA script in an editable (non-compacted) form.
Stale Baguette 19 Apr, 2021 @ 1:55pm
how do i hide the text
XLjedi  [author] 19 Apr, 2021 @ 5:00am
It already supports smaller screens, but if you go smaller than 5x3, you'll need to hide the text.
Stale Baguette 12 Apr, 2021 @ 11:23am
and a way to display it on smaller screens? the text just fills up the whole screen if i use a smaller one
Stale Baguette 12 Apr, 2021 @ 11:18am
how can i make the sonar bleeps stronger(more vibrant and bigger, they're too small, even for a decently sized ship)
XLjedi  [author] 2 Mar, 2021 @ 4:34pm
@DarkStar LIDAR would require mechanical rotation. So if I added it, it would need to be a new overlay MC with some additional LIDAR robotic equipment.
*DarkStar 2 Mar, 2021 @ 3:28pm
i was wondering if there is a possibility to add LIDAR to this system
HUNTER LEADER 28 Feb, 2021 @ 7:00am
yea i was going to use that radar, however i changed my mind and worked something else out. thanks however
XLjedi  [author] 27 Feb, 2021 @ 11:17am
@Hunter Leader there is only one radar (that I'm aware of) that is fixed and requires rotation. That large one that looks like it belongs on a fixed ATC station. Are you using that one? I would have to reconfigure the code a bit to accommodate that one. I suppose I could make that work if needed.
HUNTER LEADER 26 Feb, 2021 @ 4:25pm
yea well my problem is that the ship im building has a rotating radar and i can only use a stationary one, so i need to figure out how to keep the radar still however the outside moving
XLjedi  [author] 25 Feb, 2021 @ 4:14pm
@Hunter Leader The radar rotates internally within it's shroud. It is unnecessarily redundant to rotate something that is already rotating. So the answer is, it's already perfectly in sync with the radar turn speed, you just can't see the rotation of the internal part. I blame Mr NJ's videos mostly for suggesting you have to rotate the shrouded radar systems. He's taking a very crude shortcut in his radar examples and not utilizing the internal radar rotation system. Do not rotate the radar and sonar parts in my example, just mount them in a fixed position on your ship/sub with the directional arrow facing toward the bow as I suggest.
HUNTER LEADER 25 Feb, 2021 @ 8:28am
how can i sync the line on the screen to the radar turn speed?
XLjedi  [author] 24 Feb, 2021 @ 10:12pm
@oes1_s I doubt you are doing anything wrong. Do you understand the concept of how it works? It's a visual triangulation based on distance to the beacon. It relies on OwnShip to be in motion. As rings are plotted (possibly a hundred or more) you will see the rings begin to overlap. Where you observe the rings overlapping is where the beacon is located. It's a tool for visual triangulation based on multiple plotted circles. Once you grasp the concept, you'll be able to drive your ship/sub right to the beacon every time.
oes1_s 24 Feb, 2021 @ 9:03pm
What am i doing wrong i cant get the ELT to work it is puting circle everywhere wxcept where the beacon is
TECHRAPTORJAY 17 Feb, 2021 @ 4:51am
thanks for helping :D
(i hope it wasn't too hard to find the MCs in the On/Off logic editor)
XLjedi  [author] 17 Feb, 2021 @ 4:42am
@TechRaptorJay at some point, you changed the default settings on the radar/sonar MCs. I left a message on your craft file about setting the defaults back to zero and 25 for min mass/distance.
XLjedi  [author] 16 Feb, 2021 @ 9:20pm
@TechRaptorJay If you post your ship, I'll take a look at it.
TECHRAPTORJAY 16 Feb, 2021 @ 11:08am
my ship is 11m high in total and the radar is 0,50m down from the top of the mast
TECHRAPTORJAY 16 Feb, 2021 @ 11:05am
i put this system on my ship but it seems i don't get any blips on the screen, no radar or sonar blips and i don't know the cause and everything is wired up correctly
XLjedi  [author] 5 Feb, 2021 @ 10:14am
@no idea - I'm sure I could. I guess that fixed dish is the only radar/sonar part that requires mechanical rotation.
no idea 5 Feb, 2021 @ 12:26am
@XLjedi yes
XLjedi  [author] 4 Feb, 2021 @ 5:14pm
@no idea - you mean, you want to use the fixed dish with mechanical rotation?
no idea 4 Feb, 2021 @ 7:08am
is there a way of using a radar dish
Rocket 11 Jan, 2021 @ 10:59am
jostvanwair 28 Dec, 2020 @ 6:03am
Ok thanks
XLjedi  [author] 27 Dec, 2020 @ 8:45pm
@JostVanWair probably better to take all those questions to the Discussions area. Also not sure what you mean by "effect the vehicle". I'm strongly inclined to say, No. But better left for the discussion area.
XLjedi  [author] 27 Dec, 2020 @ 10:13am
@Wingnut they need to be installed without applying an invert or mirroring and the arrows should point toward the bow of the ship.
