I appreciate the Blast! No one knows everything (certainly not me) , so there is always a potential to learn.

its nice to see a mod author take in the information provided and then actually use it =D i was going to point out that the ash in conan was volcanic but i thought i'd read down first and would you look at that, what a wonderful interaction between mod author and mod user, no snarky comment's no hurt feelings. =D

Hopping on to say, still works very nicely

Still works, love it

3.0?

could you add regular wood to the list? Dry wood is just stripped of Bark & resin so something like 5 or 10 wood to 1 Raw Ash would be good I think

Cool beans.

I think I like this mod better for ash since Brimstone is only in certain areas and I like to play in the snowy part of the map and there is no brimstone there

@Kytampe When @TheHourMan made roughly the same suggestion, I looked deeper into it and found a better understanding of where you were coming from. you both were for the lack of a better word, muses to create the mew mod. I try to consider all feedback when creating or changing mods.

Thanks @Hesruk for the swift reply and also thank you @TheHourMan who came up with an even better idea for creating ash than me. (I do think I played a tiny part in it. ;) ;) )
pgames-food 27 Jan, 2021 @ 10:23pm
oh ok cool, thanks :)

@pcgames-food I've created another mod that is more realistic according to research done, intitiated by TheHourMan's comments. it can be found here:

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2375187758

It uses 1 Brimstone and 2 Glass in any furnace to create a new material, Synthetic Obsidian, for which there the only use is to be ground in a 5 to 1 ratio into Raw (volcanic) Ash.
pgames-food 27 Jan, 2021 @ 12:45am
hi maybe stone which grinds into salt (at 10 to 1)

and then salt in a furnace (which i dont believe does anything yet) say 10-1 again
= fused/heated salt

fused/heated salt x1 + crystal/glass x1 + 5 raw ash = 1 volcanic ash?

just a thought :)

@TheHourMan
TL;DR Working on a different mod for those of us who want a little more accuracy.

Now for the long part:
Thank you for the knowledge. It wasn't until you pointed out that this is volcanic ash, not regular ash that I realized that it makes sense that the only place to harvest the ash is in the volcano.

This mod was originally designed for Isle of Siptah (no volcano), and based on a belief that it was regular, everyday ash. Due to the clarification you provided, I am going to leave this mod as is, and am creating a more realistic mod as you suggested, using stone, crystal & glass. That way those who want a more realistic experience may choose so.

I am having trouble producing the result in a furnace/kiln. Both stone & crystal craft other items in those crafting stations. I've tested using a fluid press, and the ingredients work correctly, and can grind the result into Raw Ash. I may have to create a new crafting station to make this work, which will be some time.
TheHourMan 25 Jan, 2021 @ 10:53pm
TL;DR of that is: Realistic way would be crystals and stone in a furnace to create a synthetic obsidian, then grind that up into dust to make raw ash.
TheHourMan 25 Jan, 2021 @ 10:51pm
I think for balance it would be nice to have it be still a somewhat hard to get material, since the raw ash is volcanic ash, not just regular ash.

Irl, volcanic ash is a mixture of rock, mineral, and glass particles expelled from a volcano during a volcanic eruption. It contains vitric, crystaline, and lithic materials. This means we could realistically use crystals and stone under high heat, then grind up the resulting material to make a material like volcanic ash.
Hesruk  [author] 15 Jan, 2021 @ 6:04pm
Understandable, Kytampe. I wanted a realistic way to get raw ash, which is essentially carbon, obtained in real life by burning stuff. There may be too many options within the mod for getting ash, and had had toyed around with the idea of removing all but the wood items, but haven't taken the time to do it, and honestly, would want to take a poll of the subscribers and see what they want.
Kytampe® 15 Jan, 2021 @ 1:01am
I'd love to use this mod if it was a little harder to actually make the raw ash. I think this is a little game breaking as is now. But if you made it a little harder to get raw ash like:
Grinding up obsidian to obsidian dust, then mix it with demon blood in the alchemist bench and to top it off burn it in the furnace. But only for t4 smelters.
Then it isn't game breaking, but still easy enough to make.

(most ppl use Emberlight and everything on your list is easy to get with the that mod, breaking the late game essentially. I mean, I want raw ash easier than is in vanilla, but not that easy that I can make 10 000 raw ash in an hour or so.)
pgames-food 13 Dec, 2020 @ 1:20pm
ah yes, i got lots of other materials for the rich soil it needs but needed ash

@pgames-food
My pleasure! It is also beneficial to create potent compost to grow lotus flower, which was my main motivation for making it.
pgames-food 12 Dec, 2020 @ 9:21pm
this will be useful when learning some recieps that need it, to save from going far to get some :) thanks for making
