I got out by giving all the artifacts to the heir :) Thus, when he became king, all the artifacts were saved.

Almatar 20 May, 2023 @ 11:54pm
The fact is that I have many heirs, and when the empire is divided by inheritance, it happens that the imperial title is transferred to the chosen heir, but the royal title in which my main domain is given to another son. So, due to the fact that the artifacts of the court are tied to the title of the kingdom, and when the distribution is in progress, the artifacts disappear and the second son takes the royal title from him. Of course, I don’t understand why the title of the kingdom is just given away because it is mine and it turns out that the emperor is without his kingdom.

@Almatar Хорошо, я только что проверил. Артефакты передаются выбранному вами наследнику. У вас все еще есть проблема? Использование переводчика также :)
Almatar 20 May, 2023 @ 3:34am
@grandembassy
Artifacts are transferred along with the title by inheritance distribution. My artifact yard is empty if the title of king goes to one of the sons, and the other one I chose becomes emperor but loses the artifacts of the yard. Sorry for my English, I use a translator.
grandembassy  [author] 20 May, 2023 @ 3:23am
Huh, are they not? I don't modify the actual inheritance functionality with this mod. I just change the conditions on the "designate heir" action. Do artifacts still go to the firstborn?
Almatar 20 May, 2023 @ 3:21am
is it possible that artifacts are also inherited with the choice of an heir?
grandembassy  [author] 14 May, 2023 @ 4:27am
Just updated the mod. Should work fine
BloodW0lf 10 May, 2023 @ 9:10pm
Does this still work?

Plz update to 1.8.1

Last thing I'd suggest is changing your mod load order. If you're using other mods, it's possible that they're overwriting the changes that I make to certain files. Unfortunately, Paradox's modding scheme allows only one mod to modify a given file. If you drag my mod to the bottom of your playset, it'll load last, overwriting the changes any other mod might make.
Xeiden 28 Sep, 2022 @ 1:35pm
Unfortunately it looks to be an issue with my machine. The files - descriptors and realm_laws.txt -are all there, done multiple reinstalls of the mod and game (was trying to mp with friends; its the mod that stopped working for me). Thanks for trying to help, think there's gotta be something causing my game to not actually load this mod.
grandembassy  [author] 27 Sep, 2022 @ 4:57pm
Sorry to hear that. Though, I was able to confirm that the mod is working and modifying checksums. Make sure:
1. One of the .mod files in C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\mod is for "Designate Heir". The file should be called ugc_2324305618.mod.
2. The mod is included in your playset (double check, you never know!)
3. Ensure this directory with the mod files exists: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1158310\2324305618

Hopefully one of those help. You can always try unsubbing and resubbing. Let me know how it goes!
Xeiden 26 Sep, 2022 @ 7:02pm
Great mod, seems to have broken with 1.7.1 though. Doesn't seem to make any changes to checksums or game even if this is the only mod loaded.

Updated to 1.7!
Ayatullah 1 Aug, 2022 @ 1:23pm
No problem dude, have a good day.
grandembassy  [author] 1 Aug, 2022 @ 11:58am
I noticed you found the one I was thinking of. I could've sworn that one allowed designating any family member your heir, but I was quite wrong. Couldn't find anything else, but I wish you luck in your search :(
Ayatullah 1 Aug, 2022 @ 6:15am
I tried to find but found nothing. Do you know which one?
grandembassy  [author] 1 Aug, 2022 @ 4:57am
I think there are other mods that let you designate any relative as your heir. I haven't been making any new CK3 mods for a while now, so I hope others' mods will suffice for you!
Ayatullah 1 Aug, 2022 @ 3:22am
Hey grandembassy. Can you add the ability to designate heir the grandchildren?
grandembassy  [author] 21 Jun, 2022 @ 3:39pm
Glad I can help!
KelpTheShark/KasumiTakeshi 20 Jun, 2022 @ 8:42pm
That explains it. Thanks!
grandembassy  [author] 18 Jun, 2022 @ 6:12am
Can confirm that it's working. This mod won't work with any mod that makes new realm laws, unfortunately.
KelpTheShark/KasumiTakeshi 18 Jun, 2022 @ 4:20am
Not sure if it's a mod incompatibility, but it's not working on my end.
grandembassy  [author] 29 May, 2022 @ 5:32am
Glad to hear it!
Cndi 16 Mar, 2022 @ 8:12am
@grandembassy Tks for your feedback.:lunar2019grinningpig:
grandembassy  [author] 16 Mar, 2022 @ 8:09am
I understand your reasoning, that makes a lot of sense. Still, I'm just going to defer this design decision to Paradox and keep in line with what they've decided. I've never had issues with getting 1000 prestige even as a count (just spam hunts, for instance).
Cndi 16 Mar, 2022 @ 7:48am
Just a small count should have the right to designate heir though he doesn't have enough 1000 prestige. If there is a testament, when he die or abdicate, then designate heir, that will be best.
grandembassy  [author] 16 Mar, 2022 @ 6:38am
The mod is updated and working. Paradox made designating heir costly for a reason; just think about the chaos that would ensue if some medieval king kept changing his designated heir every two months.
Cndi 16 Mar, 2022 @ 5:06am
Pls update it and can it cost low prestige maybe only 200? Thanks.
grandembassy  [author] 14 Feb, 2022 @ 5:52am
Not quite. Designating Heir determines which of your children you're going to play as after you die. Primogeniture determines which of your castles your heir will keep. Primogeniture means your designated heir will keep all your castles, but you start with Partition, in which some of your other children will take castles for themselves. I hope that makes sense!
Nordic 14 Feb, 2022 @ 12:35am
Is it like Primogeniture, but for 1000 krowns every time?
grandembassy  [author] 13 Feb, 2022 @ 7:05am
Yep, I just kept with Paradox's design decision there. There are other designate heir mods that allow for different heirs besides your children!
doug righteous 13 Feb, 2022 @ 7:02am
can only designate children as heirs. bad.
grandembassy  [author] 9 Feb, 2022 @ 6:26am
Done!
Ricefield Warlord 8 Feb, 2022 @ 11:24pm
Yo is there gonna be an Update?
Skill Less 1 Feb, 2022 @ 8:39am
very late answer but you can place a number at the location where the variable is used. However I'd leave the cost as is 'cause it whould be too OP if the cost was lowered.
It'sKaj ツ 27 Aug, 2021 @ 7:32am
ah, no problem.
Thank you for the replay :)
grandembassy  [author] 27 Aug, 2021 @ 4:28am
You'd have to be a bit of an amateur modder yourself to configure the cost like that. Currently I have it set at "high prestige cost," which the game interprets as 1000 prestige. You'd have to go into the mod file and change this "high prestige cost" to a "medium prestige cost." Sorry I couldn't give you a better solution :(
It'sKaj ツ 27 Aug, 2021 @ 3:12am
Is there somehow the cost can change from 1000 prestige --> 500 prestige?
grandembassy  [author] 26 Jan, 2021 @ 3:51am
No, unfortunately. This mod simply extends the ability to "Designate Heir" as defined in the base game to all crown/tribal authorities. Sorry about that!
Tiberius Aurion 26 Jan, 2021 @ 2:02am
Thank you for this. Can you designate any family member as a heir?
grandembassy  [author] 25 Jan, 2021 @ 11:45am
@Shadow sorry for the late reply! If you're still interesting, the reason I didn't make such a mod is because you can usually invite your grandchildren back to your court using your house head weak hook. I hope that helps!
Sol 18 Jan, 2021 @ 9:50am
I would like a "Family doesn't leave your court" mod, similar to your children but also covers grandchildren.
johnyoga 26 Dec, 2020 @ 8:26am
Thank you!
SykesTiamat 17 Dec, 2020 @ 7:40pm
No , Thank you my friend! i'll download it as soon as you post it! thank you so much :D
grandembassy  [author] 17 Dec, 2020 @ 5:59pm
Interesting! I'm pretty new to modding and am trying my hand at whatever I can find, so yeah great suggestion! I'll try to come up with a way to keep your children in your court unless they're married to a landed person or are landed themselves. I'll be posting that mod to the collection I've been making. Once again, thanks for the feedback @SykesTiamat!
SykesTiamat 17 Dec, 2020 @ 4:06pm
good enough for me lol , is there any chance you can make a mod that stops your childs from leaving court if they dont get land? that ruins the game for me x.x

thx for the mod btw :D
