Try doing it from main menu (might need to toggle a mod in manager to enable mods in main menu).

Alas, can't seem to get it to show - is there anything that you know of that might prevent this? Getting the same with your other mod that adds breakthroughs to game rules(have tried them separately). Thanks.

I can't load the mod in the mod manager same with research tech if you could fix it that would be great.

And for any other mods you have, the same applies; mod options don't change on new games.

This doesn't reset the mod options on a new game or anything. If you've started a new game with breakthroughs turned on then they're on for the save.
You have to turn them off before starting a new game.

I'm having a problem with understanding how to turn off the breakthroughs. When I started a game and discovered a breakthrough, I would go into this mod, select the breakthrough and enable it to be researched. (no patience for research LOL) Now I have a line of researched breakthroughs. So I decided to start a new game but all the past breakthroughs are still listed as researched. So this is what I have done:
1. in game gone to mod options and deselected all breakthroughs. I have turned on and off and applied, several times the always apply options and the breakthroughs researched.
2. I have done this in multiple combinations always hitting "apply" after each attempt. But I cannot get rid of the list of researched breakthroughs on this new game.

Could you please explain the step by step process and combination to eliminate the breakthroughs. (I'm old and easily confused LOL)

And, I do love your mods and use quite a few of them. Thank you :)

You need to enable mods in the in-game mod manager first, then go into options>mod options

Click the subscribe button above, head into the game and the mod manager to enable the mod. Load a save then go into the mod options and it should show the mod.

Did you have another mod that was similar? I seem to remember it looking different. I wonder if in the past I've ticked the tech randomise option and it did the breakthroughs as well?

I don't think it did? I only meant it as a thing to unlock a couple breakthroughs, not all of them ;)

Is there a way to randomise the tech order? I've started 3 games and the breakthroughs have been the same order every time.

You can try disabling mods till you find out which one (or could be combination) causes it?

I tried restarting the game, the computer, steam, and even reinstalling the game. Nothing changes. But I noticed that is not only about this mod, it must be any of the other mods I have installed, but I don't know which one of them, because I have 49 mods installed and 41 activated.

This just happens with Japan, the other facctions are fine, so maybe I need some help,

I think there's a bug that leads to crash with this mod and Japan.

I was playing a new game to unlock the rest of the archievements (one of them "Bushido") when the game crashed after loading a save game.

Could you take a look?

Yes, I understand that now.

I was just saying that is not obvious, as most other things in the game require a single click. So I was personally getting frustrated assuming this mod menu worked like the other menus in the game -- and it not working under that assumption.

I know it is a little pointless, and I know it is an "idiot proofing" thing, but I'm suggesting this as it would help out other people who (wrongfully) assume this mod menu has the same interface as the game proper.

So... for idiots like me, can you make a note somewhere that you have to double click to activate?

I was single clicking all over the place getting frustrated that it wouldn't toggle until I figured it out (and now feel dumb)

Oh yes, if you turn off that option then you won't get anything added to research till you hit the Apply button in mod options.

That I am aware of. Apologies for sounding confusing (I'm not good with describing stuff).

However just for absolute clarity, I was specifically referring to still having to find the breakthroughs via anomalies and such before you get the option to research them. Basically, I can discover all breakthroughs on a single map without them being unlocked from the get go.

(I sound like a crazy person, don't I?)

Sorry if this was asked before.
Just to clarify - If I only pick one breakthrough in the Mod Options that will not effect any of the other Breakthroughs that were present on the Map.

Example: Service Bots is not one of the Breakthroughs on the Map I want to play, so if I select it in the Mod Options that will not cause any problems with the rest of the Breakthroughs that are already on that Map?

Hello. I didn't use this mod (only used "Game Rules Breakthroughs" to open "Service Bots" while it "doesn't researched") but when I saw research panel I saw "Frictionless Composites" while it "researched".

Sorry but I think there is a confilction between this mod and Game Rules Breakthroughs...

Hey..Ive noticed something weird since update, I started a new game and played for a while of course and saved to log off, when I came back and loaded back into the map, I noticed ALL of the Breakthroughs had been unlocked.....never did that before
