I picked jet engine as propulsion for range. Jet engines can't start if they are below sea level even if they are in a room full with air (stormworks bug). This is why surfacing is so important and it's also why the missile is raised more than it needs to in order to exit its launch bay (gives it a little bit more elevation at launch). By the looks of it i need to raise it even more to make it even easier to launch since some have reported issues of the missile not launching in time. Will look at that as soon as i can get my hands on a computer again.
crew: we lost contact on the sub sir!
commander: YOU WHAT!?
Thought about doing exactly this. Just didn't end up doing it. It's definetly possible. May add it for a later version.
The game has an issue with jet engines where they do not start if they are below water level even if they are in a room with no water.
Press the surface button and give the submarine some extra time to completely empty the ballast tanks. This will ensure the submarine is as high it can be above water. If you dont you can get issues where the engine starts late and the door closes too early. Will try to improve this part once i get back from holidays.
