I'll break it down into 3 parts:
"...\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons\workshop"
"...\Desktop\Zero\resource"
(you can change any of the survivors' name at this point)
"...\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\bin\vpk.exe"
"...\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons"
You can now unsubscribe to my Workshop versions of Mega and Zero so you don't have two copies of each!
And remember, once you're ingame: go to your Mods menu, let it fully load all your workshop items, turn on your new version of the characters, and RESTART YOUR GAME! You'll be all set from then on!
It's much easier than it appears, and because this is the basic method used to pack/unpack VPK files, it can come in extremely handy for if you wish to edit any other mods/skins/etc you have, or combine them into single files!
It's common problem with all custom characters. You either get one or nothing, unless you edit your own closecaption_english files.
The Closedcaption_english is simply the HUD name file, and as far as I've seen all custom characters must have it; so they should always conflict.
I could be wrong, as I'm just getting back into Source modding, but I don't think there's anything that I could do to fix it without packaging Mega and Zero into one mod.
I'll take a look into it today though, as it's pretty annoying only being able to have one of their names properly show up ingame.
Here's the log:File resource/closecaption_english.txt collides in VPKs:
Zero [2.0]
Megaman X [2.0]
I'm not entirely sure, to be honest. I package all the mods I download into single VPKs to avoid conflicts, and if I remember right, that shotgun was one of the first ones I downloaded years ago.
Looking through some websites right now, I THINK it may be this one: http://l4d2.gamebanana.com/skins/88247

No problem.
And actually, I'll take a look at them ingame this weekend, to see if they're salvageable; But my hopes aren't very high.
I mentioned this in more detail on the Mega Man workshop page, but I'm unable to do any model-work myself (either creating my own or porting them from other games).
The only reason I was able to work on these two was because TGE had already set them up for L4D2 (and he did an excellent job!). I'm basically stuck improving on what other people have already released.
If you're desperate for Mega Man characters for Coach and Rochelle, I have seen a couple of the Sky Pirate characters for them on l4dmaps.com
Unfortunately, they seemed pretty poorly done and had basic problems like their feet going through the ground and monsterously stretched First Person hands and such.
I had thought about fixing up their textures/shaders, but they'd still be pretty bad.
