@Toast To be fair, most of Starbound's exploration and boss fights are centered around the storyline while the sandbox side is very lacking. Terraria on the other hand has numerous bosses that are summoned in the world and not found in premade arenas, not to mention the exploration is much more interesting and rewarding. So Starbound is a better story game and Terraria is a better sandbox game. And Starbound is only better in that sense because Terraria isn't even trying to be a story game

@Armok SB and Terraria are both boss-heavy, adventure-themed 2D sidescroller sandbox games. They have a hell of a lot in common.

Admittedly we don't actually know everything about hytale, or how it'll turn out even, but I remain convinced it'll only share the similarity of being a 3d blocky sandbox, much as how SB and Terraria only share the similarity of being a 2d pixelated sandbox

Starbound and Terraria have alot more in common than Hytale and Minecraft

I enjoy both games, even though there's totally nothing suspicious in Terraria.

@Armok They don't need to be reskins of each other to be comparable as games. Starbound and Terraria have more than enough alike to judge one based on the other.

@Toast eh, they're only similiar in the broad strokes, in reality SB and Terraria are very different games with very different focuses, Terraria is basically a sandbox merged with a boss rush (in a sense), SB is a sandbox with a focus on exploration and adventure

Comparing Starbound and Terraria is absolutely reasonable. They're both sidescroller RPG-esque sandbox games. They're the same genre, they progress in pretty much the same way, and so on. I get the impression that you saw someone call Terraria better and then got mad over it.

eh, it really just depends on your gaming rig, for enough people the game runs fine

But stab round is good in its own dysfunctional way.

Terraria is WAY more refined and whatnot, unlike starbound, which is held together by duct tape and dreams. Terraria has a good engine, whereas starbound needs a third party engine mod to make it run acceptably.
