Anyone know of any other mods that did dueling as well as this that work with an updated game? Ones that allow you to challenge people to duels, instead of it just being through battles.

Multiplayer seems to be not compatible,all five of us will constantly drop out of the game.This rarely happens when we play the original game or a few other mods.

Independent systems.

It would've remained independent of Royal Court in terms of artifacts too, but the devs released the scripting documentation recently and it turns out they named their functions exactly the same as I did so there's actually a collision due to that.

Considering this mod by design doesn't *do* mod incompatibilities, chances are that you don't need to do anything @BuddyBot. The mod guis should bootstrap themselves after unpausing.

Any chance of this mod having a compatibility with Lord of The Kings? I managed to make it "work" except by the artifact icon, which is essential and doesn't appear where it supposed to.

How can I change the model of armors? I have the CFP installed and dont want chainmail to have the aperaence of plate armor.

"Complete chance" is really misunderstanding it. It *does* take prowess into account, and it's greatly weighted in favor of the countering stance. It is very rare that someone weaker wins despite being countered. If you're better than the target by 10 prowess it pretty much becomes impossible to lose while countering them.

At least, if the target doesn't have the Duelist Trait, because the Duelist Trait gives a large base bonus which would leave a small chance of victory regardless of counters.

Sure, that sounds fine and all, but When I am consistently being beaten by aggressive stances while using Iron Stance, or other defensive stances? Just makes it feel annoying in general, because Prowess doesnt seem to factor in much at all, and if the Prowess AND the Stances dont really matter, and its literally just complete chance if you win or not, thats not exactly what I wanted out of a Dueling mod that doesnt specify that at all.

There's a really good quote from Mark Twain's "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" that can explain this. Realism aside, having guaranteed success kind of takes away any sense of risk (and excitement) when dueling.

"But don’t you know, there are some things that can beat smartness and foresight? Awkwardness and stupidity can. The best swordsman in the world doesn’t need to fear the second best swordsman in the world; no, the person for him to be afraid of is some ignorant antagonist who has never had a sword in his hand before; he doesn’t do the thing he ought to do, and so the expert isn’t prepared for him; he does the thing he ought not to do: and often it catches the expert out and ends him on the spot."

That's entirely possible. It's not a hard counter, it's probabilistic counter. Even if you counter someone with a lower prowess, there might still be a 5% chance that they win.

For some reason, the stances just dont work right. I had an Ironstance, and someone easily beat me with lower prowess and a Bloodstance, despite Bloodstance being an aggresive stance and Iron stance being effective against those.

I can understand that, though with their vague goal of "2022" it could be any time next year, so I wouldn't quite say it's right around the corner.

It's going to be interesting how they implement the inspired individuals for "higher" quality artifacts and the alternative methods for artifacts in general, which I think is still being worked on.

It'll be a shame if we aren't able to personally make artifacts like this mod allows us to. If it turns out to still be compatible, I'll probably keep using this myself.

I'm probably not gonna bother updating this module with Royal Court just around the corner, but such a small change I can include in the main Way of Kings mod until then.

Would you be willing to add to the description of the "Make artifact" decision that there's a 60 month cooldown / timer on a hidden flag before you can make another?

I kept worrying that my game had bugged out because I had made some armor, and then the decision to make another artifact simply disappeared instead of being greyed out and telling me when it would be available again.

The mapmodes.gui edit in this module is not essential, you can safely let Silk Road override it.

There's a create artifact decision. You can also kill or duel someone who has an artifact in order to get it.

Apologies if this is obvious, but how to create artifiacts or get any artifacts?

I've let the game run for several years but still do not receive any events for artifacts or see any artifact popping up in the chalice HUD.

The artifacts icon on the right is completely gone now. I can still create artifacts and duel.

Hopefully fixed now. I don't have any borked save games to test, but I also added a decision to reboot the module (assuming it was present when the game was started - it is not suppored to activate the module after the game was started without it.

Characters equip their artifacts monthly. And the armor stat reduces chance of wound or death in combat.
