Another one that I missed along the way. Fun to solve

Slick map.

@sandwich..........Nothing wrong with your game. The Cave Johnson voice should not be there. Some people have the BeeMod ad-don installed so that could be why you're hearing it. An example would be the style changer allowing you to make a 70's test chamber that includes the voice lines, but it seems to stick with other test chamber styles.

After solving this I watched some other videos of it and the videos have a Cave Johnson bit at the start. But when I played it there was nothing. Is something wrong with my game because I've noticed that lately.

Loved this! Reminded me of a step in someone's map long ago.
c4shurik 21 Jun, 2021 @ 9:10am
Very good! Unusual use of accelerating gel!
Turmoil 22 May, 2021 @ 3:52pm
I had to start with a fun map from a strong map maker. @ :25 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwD8Z4bbo24

Short and Sweet - thanks for making!

it's cool and fun!

Good fun. Took some thought to solve.
gordo 9 Jan, 2021 @ 2:55pm
Fun map that needed some thought to solve. Thanks.
Skyferret  [author] 6 Jan, 2021 @ 5:57pm
@Eisenmonoxid........No, that was not the intended solution.
Eisenmonoxid 6 Jan, 2021 @ 3:35pm
Just one question: Is it planned that you can put the second in an endless loop where it falls through the blocked portal surface? I cleared the map that way but do not think it was the intended solution,
dmuk 2 Jan, 2021 @ 11:22pm
Slick!

Rzadko widzę pomysł z wykorzystaniem farb na kostkach, bardzo fajna komora :orangegel:
Skyferret  [author] 2 Jan, 2021 @ 3:47pm
Thanks to everyone for playing.

ТЫ ГЕНИЙ!!!!
JMSLD_ 2 Jan, 2021 @ 12:08pm
I'm glad I didn't look up the play-through for this one! So ruddy clever!!

Here's mine: Lost (Part 1)
EndOfPortal 2 Jan, 2021 @ 10:18am
In fact, the cube must reach a speed high enough to pass through the grid.
Skyferret  [author] 1 Jan, 2021 @ 10:35pm
@Phil......I guess there's not much we can do about that glitch. LOL. And I thought the fizzler was far enough away.
SavageDruid 1 Jan, 2021 @ 5:03pm
That was great. Now I gotta go make a map and emulate your puzzle. Slick.
EndOfPortal 1 Jan, 2021 @ 4:05pm
Nice. The gel on the second cube is not needed as it passes through the grid! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fASgfzDB9XE
Rooke 1 Jan, 2021 @ 9:30am
Oh, damn, I think I threw my back out! :steamfacepalm:
That was a really clever one - the way you put together the interaction of the different elements.
The tip of my hat to you, sir. :steamhappy:
giannicazzini 1 Jan, 2021 @ 9:06am
excellent chamber, first one I had to look up the solution for. but once i got it, it makes sense. Nice way to bring another dimension into the gameplay with the gels. Thank you for the chamber.
Skyferret  [author] 1 Jan, 2021 @ 4:37am
@PeterLucas.......I watched the video. LOL. It just made it by an inch. Thanks for playing.

And thanks everyone else for playing. And a happy new years to all. Maybe a better year for all of us.
Brat Haifa 1 Jan, 2021 @ 3:30am
What a brilliant map. Chat helped me in my stream today :D
PeterLucas 31 Dec, 2020 @ 10:45pm
Very original puzzle, good job! I had to come back to it with fresh eyes cause it's important to understand that cubes go further with orange gel on them!Spoiler text

Here's my blind playthrough: https://youtu.be/ZjE72ltOyaY

Please, try my In the Lab Series of puzzles!
Andy T 31 Dec, 2020 @ 9:37pm
@sixteen60 Oh that is old Portal 2 bug; and FYI it wasn\t part of the solution.
Sixteen60 31 Dec, 2020 @ 9:32pm
i litteraly discovered that the cube can fall through fences in a certain way by accident (i guess you broke the game)
TitaniumGrunt7 31 Dec, 2020 @ 10:09am
It's quite rare to come across a test that uses the propulsion gel-covered cube technique, so this was a nice breath of fresh air to play
B1v4Lv4n 31 Dec, 2020 @ 7:09am
God this is brilliant! Using a gel to reduce the friction of the cube - even I would not have guessed before. Excellent work !!!
Andy T 31 Dec, 2020 @ 3:12am
Yeah I guess you would bring that up, the in-engine programming is so simple it makes advanced JavaScript and DOM manipulation look like advanced cross-platform CLR programming by comparison. But collision modelling has nothing to do with it, you are already on safe ground on that. I can step in for that, the video makes it dead simple.
Skyferret  [author] 31 Dec, 2020 @ 2:38am
The programming or coding or scripting is something I never got into. Maybe text editing custom textures once or twice.
Andy T 31 Dec, 2020 @ 2:28am
I just made a proof of concept chamber and it not bode well, modifying collision model to have a custom cart is the only way to go about it, that is the red outline I somehow triggered in Hammer, and that kind of play is never seen before for such reason, only the train ride as the opening to Half Life and Portal Stories: Mel. I am a programmer and I can say for sure modifying collision model is child's play for experienced Hammer user.
Skyferret  [author] 31 Dec, 2020 @ 1:03am
I'm not familiar with modifying collision on objects or models. Or importing something into PTI. I could perhaps take a non-physics cube and attach an invisible func_physbox underneath it, then sit it over a tilting surface to initiate motion to a sloped surface. But I think all surfaces would have to be wet. The hard part would be keeping the player from falling off. Physics can be unpredictable sometimes.
Andy T 31 Dec, 2020 @ 12:38am
Actually we already could do it as a proof of concept, since player can jump onto cubes, what happens if you arrange a chamber setup to do a toboggan of about half a meter?
Andy T 31 Dec, 2020 @ 12:33am
@Skyferret Have you considered modifying a collision model? I ran into someone showing how to do that on YouTube exporting out of Hammer and importing it to basic PTI, did not look into it further since I was looking for something else.
Skyferret  [author] 31 Dec, 2020 @ 12:06am
@Andy T....... Bowling For Buttons would have been Hazardous Infrastructure.
Now if I can just find a way for a player to ride a wet cube across the floor. Maybe like tobogganing?
Andy T 30 Dec, 2020 @ 11:19pm
Easier than expected, I remember Skyferret made a number of puzzles with this mechanic in mind; though it took me few minutes to dig that idea up. Last of this is his first recent PTI map by the name of Nock it off while I remember there was a Hammer one requiring bowling for buttons too.

blind playthrough https://youtu.be/blzabkyWVGU?t=1458 Good use of elements but you don't need me to tell you that.
zuigkonthoer 29 Dec, 2020 @ 4:09am
Nice!
VladmirLR 29 Dec, 2020 @ 3:32am
I found an alternate solution maybe. But the orange gel have a portalable surface but i never use.
quatrus 28 Dec, 2020 @ 11:32am
Fun slip-sliding away. Thanks for creating.
