there is a simple tactic to beating sheryl, go into the games code and nerf her. FYI you should probably make it playable only when on the workshop to avoid other people exploiting this

Great story with great puns,still need some work on the level desing (for the shops for instance
or the hut and the cave wich have no "roof" it's kinda hard to explain but you could check the sample maps for examples (right click in the map list then click on "load sample map" for them.
I finished in 1H36Min.I hope you'll keep up with the good work! :ralphsmile:

Hi i was thinking if I could maybe help on this project? I sent you a friend request, but if you do let me join I just bought RPG Maker today and I don't know much yet. But I can learn a program fully in less than an hour or two depending on the program. Basically, the question is, can i help you with this?

I have a friend who's a singer and she's willing to help. My voice is great for narrating, or maybe for Bez but not for the hero. I could add voice acting but that would create a lot of problems for this early stage (it would make the game much bigger, thus it would take forever to test).

Honestly if John (my new helper) can take care of the battle system so that I can concentrate on the rest (story and mapmaking) it should go quite smoothly. The next update has been ready for quite some time now but John is trying to regulate battling and stuff so I'm waiting for him to finish his work before releasing this update.

I wish I had that kind of resources. 2 people that were helping me quit on me and now I'm training someone new who... seems to have a very heavy schedule. I'm not giving up on this project, it's just way too time-consuming for one person to deal with.

If I can kickstart this I'll get revamped faces and graphics throughout the game. An artist asked me like $50 for just 2 character sprites and portraits... I need ten times that.

You should make expression faces for the dog. perhaps a sort of -_- face for the dog's comment of the 50000 gold.

I just have started to learn RPG Maker VX. I'd be happy to try and help after my college term is over at the end of the month.

News: I had 2 helpers that helped me out, they resigned due to heavy workload. I'm currently training a new helper who will take care of revamping the battle system. The next 3 dungeons are ready and the next city is in development. I hope that the new release will be out by Friday.

I did find it, I just thought the fence was a blockade. I didn't realize it was blocking a place I could go at first.

@zoid5 Thanks for letting me know. it's an easy fix. Hold your save and you will find that leveling useful for the upcoming dungeon ;)
@Gavener The link is supposed to be played, I am not certain you can use it with RPG MAKER as well. If you click "Game.exe" it plays without issues correct?

After I finished the game I was doing some leveling and napped at the cabin in the frozen woods again. For some reason I no longer have my critter crew following me. They still show up in battle, but you can't see them trailing me.

You could have her be dependent on having the unicorn in the party and only give her a few conversation items. Maybe you can make an excuse about the developer being lazy magic clone taking up a lot of her time, and having to manage that makes her unable to speak most of the time.

Still need to decide whether to have her as an optional character and not bother give her conversations all the time or go through that tremendous effort and just add switch "If Sheryl in party". Honestly, powerwise she's not supposed to be obtained before the volcano...

Bugs known still worked on:
-Title doesn't fit the title screen... I wonder why :3
-Golden Slime secret boss doesn't adjust difficulty
-Sheryl doesn't explain how she can be in the party and still be at the shop in the same time (coming in the next patch) - she is still TOUGH to get at this early point of the game (but someone managed to get her so I had to mention that)

Bez didn't recieve the skill, not entirely sure why.
I've been doing a few tweaks to it anyway, will probably post the things I did here in the comments once I finish.

I had the random encounters at every 29 steps, I have no idea why it occurs much more often than that. I will work on that.

I will do the direction fix as suggested for the cloaked guy, it seems I forgot about it in some of the event pages.

Yes the ghosts are meant to remain there- There will be an npc that will advice the player "they cannot harm you if you don't look at them" practically a battle won't start unless you press once towards them.

The game ends a bit after the ghosts anyway.

Bez's is supposed to receive "firebreath" as a skill, it didn't work?

45 or so minutes in and the infinite silent ghosts prevent me from moving forward. It's a great RPG, some balancing issues, but it's still a good experience.

The amount of random encounters should be reduced, gets annoying after the 5th one in 10 steps.

Again, about the hermit guy: When you talk to him from different directions, his graphic changes to other characters, then back again. This is easilly fixed by setting the Hermit event to "Direction Fix ON".

I found a bug or glitch or whatever: When you talk to the cloaked hermit guy, he tells you the location of the guy you need to seek out, regardless of whether you have 50G or not. You might wanna fix that.

The designs of the shops indoors look pretty good, but I'm not sure about the door graphic. And the pavement between shops could be a bit wider; it almost looks like you can't walk behind buildings.

I'd recommend reducing the frequency of random encounters. It got a tad frusterating after a while. Also, the bridge leading to the castle should only be as long as the water around it. Having bridge tiles on dirt and grass doesn't look good.

Updated with around 1,5-2 hours of gameplay.

This update: 2 new party members (1 nearly impossible to get at this stage of the game)
1 New dungeon
Numerous new buildings and funny sequences in the city.

It is reccomended that you start over instead of keeping your old save.
Trust me the changes are worth it.

After the next update I will make sure that saves can be kept without problems.
