Update checked for 1.55, no changes needed
Isaiah53six 24 May @ 11:03am
@Erbkaiser okay Good to know. I wondered about that, if they were cosmetic ones....Thank you. Great mod btw.
Erbkaiser  [author] 24 May @ 7:11am
@Isaiah You should get a fine roughly 90% of the time, but only if the camera is actually coded as a camera. A lot of them are cosmetic only.
Isaiah53six 24 May @ 6:00am
Is there meant to be a fine when running a red light with a camera cause I never get one although I see lots of traffic cameras in some states. Just curious if mod is working as intended or I might have a conflict with another mod. Thanks
Hardy 4 Apr @ 5:41am
It's a nice mod. Good work.
JustCauseWhyNot 24 Feb @ 12:06pm
Thank you for the fix!
Erbkaiser  [author] 24 Feb @ 12:03pm
You were right - it seems SCS changed the illegal trailer code and I missed that update!
I'll add it to my mod now and push it. The next time you launch the game, it should give you the proper fine (if any).
JustCauseWhyNot 24 Feb @ 11:41am
Interesting then. Cause disabling this mod only I didn't get fined. I don't know what the issue is then.
Erbkaiser  [author] 23 Feb @ 11:43pm
That's not due to this mod. I don't touch that fine so it is the same as vanilla.

If you get that fine you ARE using an illegal trailer, which means either it is actually forbidden there, or the country definition file for Idaho you are using is modified by another mod in a bad way.
JustCauseWhyNot 23 Feb @ 9:56pm
I found a bug with the mod. I got charged 1500$ fine for illegal trailer usage every frame going through idaho with the turnpike double dry van trailer.
Erbkaiser  [author] 14 Jun, 2024 @ 2:34am
Yeah they are still braindead, but it's not as bad as when I first made this. The AI used to randomly break at merging lanes or intersections, and switch lanes right in front of you, and that has been mostly resolved.
VanaheimRanger 14 Jun, 2024 @ 1:51am
Idk about that, I still get random crashes from idiot AI drivers, lol.
Erbkaiser  [author] 12 Jun, 2024 @ 1:09pm
I increased the crash fines to about 1/4 of default. One of the reasons I had set it to the minimal amount was that the AI was too stupid not to crash into the player, and this has now been mostly solved. I may increase it back to full in the future.
VanaheimRanger 19 May, 2024 @ 2:51am
Still working in 1.50 for anyone wondering.
Erbkaiser  [author] 16 May, 2024 @ 10:37pm
Should still work, no changes on SCS's end.
Julius Caesar Salad 16 May, 2024 @ 7:15pm
1.50?
Erbkaiser  [author] 18 Dec, 2023 @ 1:34pm
yes
USF1MAN 17 Dec, 2023 @ 8:34am
does this work on 1.49?
Erbkaiser  [author] 27 Feb, 2023 @ 2:48pm
I have tried to mod that before, but either I don't fully understand how the overspeeding system works, or part of it is hardcoded.

The formula is fine *= min( multiplier ^ (overspeed / step), limit)
But changing the steps from default 2.777778 doesn't seem to reflect on in-game changes.
Kultag 27 Feb, 2023 @ 2:30pm
Is it possible to increase the overspeed fine threshold? AFAIK that 8 kph / 5 mph is a bit too strict, IRL they fine you when speeding by about double that on a highway.
EuroGuy 3 Feb, 2023 @ 7:02am
Je voudrai seulement éviter , suprimer les dégats au véhicule. Quel mod ?
Erbkaiser  [author] 24 Nov, 2022 @ 10:55pm
Mechanically it works just like the weight check or a toll booth. If you are in range of the check and leave it without doing the action, you're caught.
Erbkaiser  [author] 24 Nov, 2022 @ 10:54pm
If you have a mod that adds other countries and manage to drive past the passport check area, you get fined.
Opus Aeterna 24 Nov, 2022 @ 5:50pm
Illegal border crossing fine: what do you mean with that? How can I illegaly cross the border?
Erbkaiser  [author] 13 Nov, 2022 @ 4:05pm
Exactly. It exists in the code and in ETS2 is a fine by default, but in ATS it is not, presumably because (as far as I can tell) it is not a fine in California.
Columbus Aviation 13 Nov, 2022 @ 1:41pm
@Erbkaiser

What would that be exactly? Would it be like a violation/fine for driving on the shoulder?
Erbkaiser  [author] 13 Nov, 2022 @ 11:06am
Checked update for 1.46
Added hard shoulder violation fine as it is a rule in some US states now added to the map
Riareos 23 Aug, 2022 @ 11:22am
much needed. am so sick of driving around minding my own business when someone slams into me for no reason and I have to fork out the dough. I think they should be giving me money instead of a fine.
Kultag 22 May, 2022 @ 11:05am
And as of now Valve seems to say GTFO not gonna fix it. Which would be outrageous.
Unseen Cat 22 May, 2022 @ 7:37am
This seems to be a Steam problem. I've seen reports in the Steam communities of it happening with mods in other games as well as ATS and ETS2.
Erbkaiser  [author] 19 May, 2022 @ 8:00am
Thanks for letting me know. I hope SCS finds the problem and fixes it soon.
Kultag 19 May, 2022 @ 7:26am
This now seems to be a game bug, bc multiple people are experiencing it. Someone at the SCS forums deleted all ATS files, and still no success. Your mod is a strong proof that it's not the mods that cause this error.

Sounds like you might have some form of corruption in your Steam workshop.

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\270880 and delete everything there, then subscribe or unsubscribe from ANY mod on the Workshop. Steam should now redownload all your Workshop mods for ATS.

If you have Steam installed elsewhere, go to \steamapps\workshop\content\270880 from there.

270880 is the AppID for ATS.
Kultag 18 May, 2022 @ 10:05am
If I copy the content into the mods folder like it was manually downloaded and added, the game can see it. SMH
Kultag 18 May, 2022 @ 9:42am
I'm not sure what's going on with my game. It's now 1.44.1, and this mod and 4 others (engine, wheel, gearbox, paint) appear in my active mod list on the right, with the red exclamation point, but they don't appear in the available mod list on the left. I unsubbed from this, launched the game, quit, then resubbed, the folder is in my game folder with several other mods, but the game still can't see it and the four other installed. I restarted my computer, had the file integrity checked with Steam, and still no. The left panel says it's not even there, the right panel says it's installed but not compatible currently. I need to find out what's happening.
Erbkaiser  [author] 18 May, 2022 @ 5:38am
That should not be possible. This mod is universal, not tied to a version number.
Kultag 18 May, 2022 @ 3:41am
Why does the game's Mod Manager state that this is now incompatible with 1.44?
Erbkaiser  [author] 31 Mar, 2022 @ 1:42pm
Load order should not matter as it's only one file, so the only mods that will conflict are other mods that change police fines.
Haywire 31 Mar, 2022 @ 12:43pm
Any load order preference or can it go anywhere? :-)

Thanks for this, by the way. Hated driving with fines turned off but original system was a bit wonky.

Happy motoring!
Jake Brake 25 Mar, 2022 @ 7:48pm
Phoenix PD, lol nice work. looks good.
Erbkaiser  [author] 22 Jan, 2022 @ 2:31am
EmDash - that mod will change the same file, so it will not. My mod makes fines somewhat less likely so if your goal is to enforce road rules, you should use the other one.
EmDash 21 Jan, 2022 @ 7:54pm
Will this work with mods that change fine values? Like "To Serve and Collect" by MycroftCanadaNS? I'm trying to make it so when I host a server people will be more inclined to follow road laws.
Erbkaiser  [author] 19 Dec, 2021 @ 9:56am
No update needed for 1.43
Roon 27 Nov, 2021 @ 6:12am
This is so realistic! The original fine mechanic was bit strange because if you pass while it is red light (even very little) the fine happens, but this one fixes that like realistic one!
Erbkaiser  [author] 20 Oct, 2021 @ 2:49pm
No, turning it off in the settings just disables everything.
This mod changes how likely you are to get specific fines.
BADLUCK JUSTICE 20 Oct, 2021 @ 1:54pm
Does this do the same thing as turning off fines in the settings?
slocarlife 21 Jun, 2021 @ 10:00am
its pretty cool it makes the game tons of fun
Erbkaiser  [author] 16 May, 2021 @ 5:28am
Read the description. It changes the chances of getting a fine, not the value of the fines.
kathy24.kw 15 May, 2021 @ 8:34pm
how much is the fines now
xNLS77x 12 May, 2021 @ 10:45am
Thanks for this mod :104: it seems to me that there are speed cameras on some Californian highways
