ez FC here, and in hard mode
p.s. wtf is this comment section...
We need more people like Veloxcene in the community tbh.
Overall, super challenging, kept in mind and intended for those of a higher skill ceiling, much like one dude in the comments who showed off his 55x combo (mad respect, sir).
Was this level overbearing, unrelentless? I would say yes, definitely. Unbearable? No.
I rate it a fair 7/10. Despite the hardness, I felt it was a level that really pushed me, and I felt a genuine satisfaction upon completing it. Thanks for reading me out.
(PS: I really honestly didn't get the reference, or any knowledge about this originally being a collab, but it definitely would have been solid fun)
Having said that, I was absolutely able to complete this level under a timeframe of 15 minutes, much like Rob. I got stuck here and there, but I took any and every opportunity to rush at packs if they assembled in a spot, and got kills in sprees. Not a full combo, but for what the level design allowed me, and my own skill level, I was satisfied with whatever I could pull off.
In level 3, I found the door to be very useful to protect myself from the shotgunner that the rifleman was covering. And I also got the hang of punting dogs from the side (a bit like matadoring them).
Same for the fight with the Fans on the roof. I used my own muscle memory and prior knowledge to kill them off, like dodging Ash and Mark's bullet sprees, and complete the level.
I am not exactly a "pro" at the game, only having found myself getting invested in it after a long time, and finding myself grinding at it.
When I first saw the level today, seeing Rob's gameplay of it, I felt that it was definitely something that was finishable, but not exactly fair. I took most comments written here into consideration, and then finally played it for myself.
This level, is definitely intended for veterans of the game, and those who are generally masters of movement with characters like Tony or Biker, seeing that they are melee onlies, going up against guns and heavies.
GOOD LEVEL
This level on the other hand barely allows you any breathing space and essentially punishes you no matter what you do. Spawning you in killzones where it's all based on luck
This level would be fine if it had HM1's mechanics or if it allowed you to play with anything other then a bloody melee only character
Are you including the people who go the dark souls approach of git gud and shit talking with little advice and the creator who calls everyone who doesn't like his levels bad and acts condescending?
It's easy for people who've poured hundreds of hours into something to go out and justify trash level design and say that "it's really ez"
There's a difference between trial and error and straight up masochism. Hotline Miami 1 and to some extent 2 were great because they allowed you to go onto a floor and get a decent look of things before throwing you into the pit. It also allowed you to play however you'd like rather it would be ballsy and reckless or cautious and slow. I was the former, running out and killing even if it killed me a hundred times over because I wanted to finish levels in the most action packed and bloody ways possible
You're a toxic person.
They were a lot more like HM1's design, with lots of static enemies standing in place and few lines of sight.
Over time as our skill ceiling rose and we learned to master the game's mechanics. Shotgun dodging, large spaces and hot starts became more common place so the players would actually be challenged. Despite this difficulty, it only took me about 5 mins per floor. Anything below this I can fly through in like 1-2 lives, and is frankly boring to a lot of us..
You try to wait for the mobs outside the room to lap around so you can kill them? Well you can't because a melee mob rushes in and busts the door open so that you can't use it as cover and even if the door swings back shut, you're probably dead already
Or you get killed by the dog and fat guy that spot you two seconds after killing the melee mob that rush in and 1 shot you through the door since the level design forces you to do so
Basically the lvl creator has a deep understanding of what made the original HM2 campaign so fucking cancer at times, and I'm ngl it's impressive
Still gay
Second level is slightly better performance except he keeps dying because he keeps performing the dog kill animation which he could avoid simply by looking left or right while charging the dog
3rd level 4:31 which is slightly better then the first floor but is also the main reason why I typed that whole post describing that level's layout and why its cancer. (which I forgot to mention the floor layout on the previous post because I was fixing typos without noticing)
I finished the level while I was typing and honestly the ending is underwhelming. It's literally reskinned versions of the fat guy (Tony) Katana guys (Alex and Corey) regular gun mob (Ash) and the fat commando mob (Mark)
For anyone who thinks this level is impossible
Really shows your maturity there mate
Also judging from your profiles I can tell that Local Aligator is a immature child who hates fat people and Fusilli is one of those fake transgenders with girl anime pfps who has spent over 5000 hours in TF2 which tells you what type of person they are
End of the day be honest in your criticism and if the thing being reviewed is objectively dog shit then you have the right to call it dog shit
Which Unfortunately is what this mod is
1/10
the room is also covered in windows with one melee mob who is right in view of you outside the room, so that even if you kill the 3 mobs. The melee mob will rush into the room and either kill you if you're stuck in the dog kill animation or have the door swing right open which removes your only piece of cover from the two other mobs who have guns who instantly shoot at you as soon as the melee mob rushes in
And to add salt to the wound even if the melee guy rushes in and somehow gets knocked down along with one of the gun mobs. You won't be able to risk finishing them off because there's no cover and the remaining gun mob will kill you.
