Basically as best as I understand it, the default player factions don't appear in the Pawn Kinds selection menu for Prepare Carefully. Since the Xenohumans pawnkinds (with the exception of the Tribal Totem pawnkinds) are only in factions that are hidden from Prepare Carefully's selection Menu, you can't normally select them. All this mod does is add the hidden Xenohumans spacer faction and assigns duplicates of the colonist pawnkinds from the Xenohumans mod so you can select them.
The faction is basically empty beyond that and should never create bases or appear in space refuge events since the Xenohumans mod uses the base spacer faction. (This is actually also why a patch is needed since the mod doesn't add it's own spacer faction.)
