standalone would be ideal ngl, making it more compatible :steamthis:

I may still implement it as a standalone mod though.

Ahhh yes...close family elopement. It's been studied. I planned to add it for a time. It's a bit...illogical. If a faith doesn't recognize consanguineous marriage...it doesn't matter if you run away together. Your children are still seen as bastards since the marriage is invalid by definition.

However, the PRIMARY reason I have abandoned that plan is the huge number of compatibility issues it would create. And my goal has always been to keep this compatible with just about everything including overhauls.

Looking forward close family elopement :D

@shinigami160 It is now! This was one of the rare updates that broke it.
shinigami160 2 May @ 7:56am
any word if it works for 1.16x patch?
Monk 29 Sep, 2024 @ 10:44am
Works just fine with the new dlc(roads to power) btw
Hierophant  [author] 21 Jul, 2024 @ 7:11am
Just to be clear, this mod should still be working perfectly for 1.12.* on vanilla. If you are having issues please let me know. I will put out an update anyway so you don't have the annoying warnings. If you run mods and this breaks, let me know which ones. Should be easy to patch.

Does not work for me but I don't run vanilla. If anyone can chime in and confirm
.lookin 4 hot single milfs 10 Jun, 2024 @ 10:31am
does it work?
Unknown Ape 4 Sep, 2023 @ 1:22pm
Doesn't work. Needs update, doesn't look like its going to get one either.
blazezierhiz 26 May, 2023 @ 8:48pm
@Hierophant i mean theres is also no "incest elopement" even if the religion is unrestricted marriage.
Kierara 20 May, 2023 @ 8:13am
yes a game rule would be awesome
Hierophant  [author] 13 May, 2023 @ 5:06am
@blazeziehiz It does not at present. Primarily this is because a consanguineous marriage would be considered illegitimate if the faith didn’t allow it no matter who approved it beforehand. But I can see the argument for it. I am willing to add it as a game rule if you like.
blazezierhiz 13 May, 2023 @ 3:48am
does this work with the "incest elopement"? since you cant elope with a close family as a soulmate.

Updated!
Caloens2k1 17 Dec, 2022 @ 9:36am
No update?
nolatency 26 Sep, 2022 @ 5:53am
Thank you, this mod is a must-have
Hierophant  [author] 25 Sep, 2022 @ 7:54pm
Yes it works fine with 1,7.1. I will update the file to take away the mod outdated warning soon.
nolatency 24 Sep, 2022 @ 6:35pm
Does this mod work with 1.7?
Vickie_Imaginate 3 May, 2021 @ 7:02am
@Hierophant No worries, was juggling mods around because of some issues in my run save. I actually deleted my run to restart but I'll replicate it for you with the current mods I was testing at the time (they were UI mods so maybe something combined did conflict it as a visual glitch). Will send via your email sometime this week if possible.
Hierophant  [author] 3 May, 2021 @ 6:06am
@Vickie_Imaginate Thank you for the notice! Unfortunately I have been unable to replicate this issue. Are you using any other mods at all? Also do you mind sending your saved game (or a link to it) to hierophant21@protonmail.com? I don't believe that it is possible for this mod to cause this issue but I would like double and triple check.
Vickie_Imaginate 2 May, 2021 @ 8:45pm
I found a bug with this mod that whenever you elope, the agents that join in are duplicated. It didn't seem like having more agents affect the scheme chance so I guess it's a weird visual glitch? Did some tests and so far this mod does that.

cool mod
Deer_DK 4 Feb, 2021 @ 11:22am
Not a bad idea. Dunno if im gonna pick it up, but I definetly endorse the idea
Hierophant  [author] 3 Feb, 2021 @ 1:17pm
That is strange. Having never done it as a polygamous character I didn't notice before. It should be a fairly easy thing to change. I am busy with other projects at the moment but I will definitely consider adding that in a future release!
benmazalan92 3 Feb, 2021 @ 7:18am
can you make so that if we elope, but we have polygamy, our current wives won't be divorced? Cause that part is wack.
HORSE 31 Jan, 2021 @ 10:40pm
I don't use this scheme but thumbs up for an intelligent mod idea, thank you. Stuff like this is great.
Hierophant  [author] 31 Jan, 2021 @ 11:09am
Totally agree! There is historical precedent for more interaction. Especially in areas where the religious makeup was diverse. It also makes it boring to play when surrounded by other faiths. I am glad you like the change.
Karmapowered 31 Jan, 2021 @ 1:44am
Paradox went completely overboard with punishing interactions between different faiths.

There are tons of historical examples of Counts and even Dukes marrying in their "best interests", relative only to their neighbours, and ignoring faith considerations if in immediate danger and they weren't utter zealots.

Kings or Emperors never would agree to marriage propositions from heathens in normal circumstances, sure, but even they could be forced to, by peace agreements after a major defeat for example, which the game fails to simulate.

So your mod is very welcome to add some "story depth" back into the game, which it sorely lacks. Thank you.
