You should also have the ability to get x2 tourism after using a great musician

Still waiting for a Grantville civ from 1632.

Let's go Mountaineers!

Yeah, it just has the same increased religious pressure modifier that the Grand Temple already has anyways. If you plan on keeping it as a national wonder replacement, you're gonna need to beef it up quite a bit. On a different note, I found a small typo in the civ's unit identifiers. It says "West Viginian archer" for example.
calcul8or  [author] 15 Apr, 2016 @ 4:23am
Maybe something happened in the update - the Gold Temple used to have some other ability (but I don't remember what else - I think it increased religious pressure)

This one is fairly solid, with one glaring exception. The UA is fitting, fairly straightforward, and quite useful. The UU synergizes well with the UA, and proved to be quite solid overall. Its unit flag was barely discernible though, so it could use a makeover. The UB, however, was pretty much worthless. Here on the steam workshop you have it listed as a temple replacement. In reality, in-game it's set as a Grand Temple replacement. Not even an improved one at that. It's just a re-skin of the normal Grand Temple, with no additional effects whatsoever. The UA and UU were solid enough that I still found this one enjoyable, but the UB needs redoing ASAP, as it is currently does nothing unique, and is just the plain Grand Temple with a different name and icon.

I love this mod! I go to WVU, know the mascot, and grew up near the palace of gold. Too sick!

@Caboose - it's in progress, no ETA

Can you create a Virginia civilization please?

ignoring terain cost for all units seems overpowered as all hell...but for once i don't care
Cruza;Complex 12 Oct, 2014 @ 2:50am
I had never heard of the Palace of Gold or had any idea it was in Moundsville, even having lived in WV my whole life.
calcul8or  [author] 1 Oct, 2014 @ 3:46am
@Gojira - good suggestions
Gojira71798 30 Sep, 2014 @ 10:14am
If/When you do a Kentucky Civ I'd suggest these qualities
Leader: Daniel Boone, James Bowie, Or Henry Clay
UA: Horses and Coal give 2+ culture/gold
UB: Kentucky Derby or Coal Mine
UU: A special Cavalry unit, or along the Mountaineer of this mod, but not quite like it.
calcul8or  [author] 20 Aug, 2014 @ 5:25pm
@Church - no problem! Most of the mod was actually designed by another Steam user, I just put it together
Church 20 Aug, 2014 @ 4:58pm
Thanks for not making us out to be terrible rednecks.
calcul8or  [author] 16 Jun, 2014 @ 5:11pm
Many of my state mods used logos from colleges or other teams in state, it was just a thing I did. I've moved away from it now. I had never done a bit of graphic design before starting this mod journey, so I tried to keep it simple.
madirishman 16 Jun, 2014 @ 4:57pm
Glad to see my home state represented, and many thanks for this, but any chance of losing that WVU logo? It's not like it's our state flag or anything.
DJAJon889 15 Jun, 2014 @ 8:16pm
An upgrade to the stadium might make sense, a football field, perhaps? Given that there's two pro teams and two big colleges (at least) and it's the big deal sport for pre-college schools. The only thing I've been able to come up with as far as units is something with the Amish as a later-game worker upgrade? Either that or something to do with Revolutionary War history.
DJAJon889 15 Jun, 2014 @ 3:20pm
Let me sink some thought into that. I know what my instant responses would be, but they're not really statewide.
calcul8or  [author] 13 Jun, 2014 @ 8:49pm
I never noticed that - you're right, I did. Thoughts on PA's uniques
DJAJon889 13 Jun, 2014 @ 8:24pm
Any chance of a PA Civ at all? I see you danced all around it! :D
Kryzt 20 Mar, 2014 @ 8:47pm
Neither bother me! I just was using the worker as the UU because it better fits theme for the State of Florida as a whole, but either would be good.
calcul8or  [author] 20 Mar, 2014 @ 8:44pm
Also, West Virginia just got an update
calcul8or  [author] 20 Mar, 2014 @ 8:44pm
I could see the Seminole combined with the theme park.
wvuemu  [author] 20 Mar, 2014 @ 7:25pm
I am biased, but I like the Seminole which would be similar to the Pathfinder but with more strength for the UU.
calcul8or  [author] 20 Mar, 2014 @ 6:50pm
Crist - no problem! You have well thought out ideas.
Kryzt 20 Mar, 2014 @ 5:58pm
(Sorry for spamming this comment section, you're only allowed 1000 characters per post.)

My logic with the UA was just that (while slightly OP), the latter part of the ability ties into the current representation of Florida re: tourism, while the former represents old Florida re: argiculture and fishing prowess (which is still the #2 economic sector).

Otherwise, my logic regarding the UB is that while Disney is /massive/ Florida has plenty of other large and small theme parks that attract a lot of money. (Universal, to name just one.)
Kryzt 20 Mar, 2014 @ 5:55pm
In terms of the leader I would recommend Charlie Crist, Jeb Bush, Lawton Chiles, or Bob Graham. All of whom are more recent in Florida's history, but incredibly popular and names known by almost every Floridian in the State.

I would have to recommend Florida have a UA+UB dealing with Tourism rather than a science victory, mostly because of the fact that since the crash/recession our #1 segment of the economy has been tourism.

Maybe--
UA: "the Sunshine State" +(?) food and +(?) production on every coast, lake, ocean, grassland, and marsh tiles; (%) increase in tourism in every city once you hit Modern Era.

UB: Theme Park; +3 Tourism, +2 Gold, +2 Culture, +1 Happiness. [Replaces stadium]

UU: I don't quite know what this could be. I was just thinking about a uniquely named worker unit who works tiles slightly faster and has one or two more movements per turn.

Feel free to critique that however you wish! That's just my thoughts. :)
calcul8or  [author] 20 Mar, 2014 @ 5:18pm
I like your idea for spaceship production! It would definitely be unique; a tourism boost is an obviious choice but doesn't seem all that compelling.

Crist - any ideas you have for UU/UA/UB and leader would be great
wvuemu  [author] 20 Mar, 2014 @ 4:21pm
Florida could have a UA that no other civ has that would be perfect: accelerated space ship production. Sure, it's a late game UA but that would be a great one. Or, maybe the UB is Kennedy Space station which would give an accelerated parts bonus. UU could be the Seminole which is similar to the Native American unit that can choose the bonus from the barbarian village but has higher strength and can move through marsh and swamp with no penalty. Another UA could be tourism increases with the title "The Land of Disney." Obviously Florida has a lot of a great possibilities.
Kryzt 20 Mar, 2014 @ 1:12pm
Another great State civ, calcul8or. I really enjoy all of them.

Although I'm sure you're very busy, I was wondering if you'd ever be interested in doing a Florida one? If so, I'm a native of Florida and I'd love to help you out in any way.
calcul8or  [author] 20 Mar, 2014 @ 5:06am
Oh, that's right!
wvuemu  [author] 19 Mar, 2014 @ 7:12pm
I did not see the Palace of Gold as the building, just the temple
Gojira71798 18 Mar, 2014 @ 4:35pm
No problem! I like your State Civs, the Workshop has too few States! XD Its good to see someone is making an attempt at it!
calcul8or  [author] 18 Mar, 2014 @ 4:30pm
@wvuemu - a lot of crdit goes to your ideas - thanks! Getting John Denver in would be awesome
calcul8or  [author] 18 Mar, 2014 @ 4:30pm
Thanks, @Gojira71798!
Gojira71798 18 Mar, 2014 @ 2:00pm
Awesome! :) Can't wait to try it out!
wvuemu  [author] 18 Mar, 2014 @ 6:01am
can't wait to play it. Too bad Steam cannot get John Denver as a great Musician.
