Smart Autodrill is for efficient extraction of resources.
If you want speed, take the Giant Autodrill.

the smart autodrill says 30% deposit consumption, and 100% resource output.
was what you saw just happening 1 time? or was that like the last 4 resources, and it used 50% and gave 50%? (sorry if i misunderstood) :)
I've been using Smart AutoDrill's only, and I've noticed something. When the resource below them gets low, the amount that the drill extracts gets reduced proportionally and does not deplete the source. At least, not so far. The last drill cycle produced 2 steel and left 2 steel (which is what it had before that cycle).
Also, when you have a regular deep drill selected, mousing over an underground resource will show you how much is there (much like when a ground-penetrating scanner is selected). This doesn't happen with the small autodrill.
