@chuckfinleyisforever If you want extensive control over the appearance of the models, you should rip them from MW3 and remodel them per your needs.

@tiberium yea unfortunately, I had to extract with gmad, open the vmt and set the $phong to zero, but it took only a minute. The rig is just a wonderful job, really, tested with 90% of arccw FA:S2 and really no clippings at all, the little issue (for me) was just the glove being too bright in the dark, but I'm sure it doesn't bother anyone

@snoop lion You are disabling Source's ambient light (all of the work that VRAD does when compiling a map) with that command. That ambient light is used for all primary diffuse lighting in Source, including rim lighting, so you will create visual errors when you disable it.

r_radiosity 0 apparently seens to fix the phong hands, but when you go near a wall your weapon turns black (as it removes the shades), guess ill have fun with the gmad extractor today

@le chimp During gmod's default playermodel idle animation? Yeah, the fingers are a little squished. It's a byproduct of transforming a much different reference pose and skeleton into a ValveBiped. No amount of delta mush can fix it, sadly. If you mount Portal 2, you can see this on Valve's own Chell playermodel.

@snoop lion de_dust2? That checks out cause the CSS maps have notoriously exaggerated ambient light and HDR that makes almost everything look bad. Even the stock gmod maps do this too. The models in CSS compensate by having weak specular highlights or even disabling rim lighting altogether. So bringing non-CSS content into CSS maps is always going to look bad, unfortunately.

thanks for your tips tiberium, I was running the game instance on default configs but that specularity configs should definitely do something, you did a wonderful c_rig, haven't seen any clipping at all
and yes unfortunately you are right, the old MWs are notorious for their phongs, I was testing on de_dust2 and looking down when the sun faces the glove and she turns incredibly white, but honestly it isn't anything that takes the fun away!

@obamaman349 I've never made NPCs before so I'm not sure how to do that. I'll probably give it a try some day in the future, but in the meantime, I think you can use something like Dr Vrej's npc system to make npcs out of any model.

@snoop lion Intense rim lighting is part of MW2/MW3's style, so I've brought a little bit of that into gmod with these models. Your gmod settings are exaggerating that. When you disable specularity and enable fullbright, you blow out the rim lightning on everything. Go back to the default settings and it will look correct. Additionally, you may be playing on a bad map with a bad HDR setup.

tiberium amazing work, sorry for asking but is it just me or are the c_hands way too shiny? i'm on mat specular 0 and fullbright aswell, hdr and color correction has no effect on it :(
