@metrocop Yes. All of my mw3 models look for their materials (vmt files) at their normal paths and also at an alternate path. You can change the mask lens material by putting a different vmt file at the alternate path.
1) Extract this addon's gma file
2) Find lens material at materials\models\tfusion\playermodels\mw3\mtl_sas_urban_head_a_alpha.vmt
3) Copy it to a new file at materials\models\tfusion\playermodels\mw3\_alt\ mtl_sas_urban_head_a_alpha.vmt
4) Edit the copied vmt to make lens black or whatever
The _alt\ subfolder is where you can put vmts to override all the materials on my mw3 models.

Same I've got way too many hours in it, but I noticed a strange shift in community tone after TLS update. Maybe its cuz it broke literally half the workshop's items. :/

@LumpyNabog Imho l4d is becoming more and more like the weird cousin of the Source family. As communities shrink the good people are the first to go and all the weirdos stay the longest, and I got that feeling from l4d during the last stand update. Its sad, cause I like the l4d games.

It blows me away how demanding and downright rude some people get in the L4D2 workshop.
I don't get it, way I see unless you pay through like Patreon, you don't get to make demands, at most you can make requests/suggestions even then, if the mod says no suggestions... you shouldn't. I legit saw someone try to badmouth a modder into making something in their own comment section.

@LumpyNabog I think usually when people say making their addon took 2-3 months they are not talking about 2-3 months of a 40 hour work week, they are talking about 2-3 months of spare time evenings and weekends which is misleading. So they are being honest but with zero context. The other side of it is that a lot of addon creators don't batch or automate the boilerplate in say making 80 quality player models, they just do it by hand 100 times and that is really slow. There's also a lot people take for granted these days, especially when 1 individual tries to do the same work for free that a team of 5 salaried men did. Just some of my observations of the gmod addon community in recent years.

Not still in school but between jobs. Idk 150 just seemed like a lot less time to make quality model ports than I thought. I always figured with the really nice models it took about 2-3 months.
It's fine though, not like we're entitled to your work.

@LumpyNabog 150 is three and half full work weeks. It probably would've been closer to eight weeks if I had not automated about half of my pipeline. After all that I still had to create all the media you see on these workshop pages, that kept me so busy during the month I was releasing these... Maybe if you're still in school that's a lot of your time you can throw away on something free, idk. If/when I do another group of cod pms it will be black ops 2 because there were my next pick and I already have some work done on that. People have asked me for mw2 a lot and sometimes ghosts, so they could be after bo2 maybe. But that's a while from now on a $0 budget. There might be a tie in with my swep base if I ever finish that too.

Damn, 150 hours sounds pretty quick for model porting, especially quality ports.
But yeah my friends have said the same, I played a fair bit more of Ghosts than they did and I probly have more than 25 hours in it solely because of Squads. I liked the idea of personally customized bot allies, I also loved the DEVGRU and Uprising DLC gear

@LumpyNabog Idk. Ghosts was such a big disappointment after mw3 and blops 2 that I only played the campaign and then basically forgot about it. Like most people did. But it's not a bad game and that's more evident now than it was back then, and since it was infinity ward's last game before their major talent change, it is basically the culmination of those talented modelers' characters and guns and props and before they left. So yeah there is plenty of stuff worth porting over to gmod and honestly I'd like to do pms and guns eventually. But my 25 hours in ghosts means it's at the bottom of the ladder and I have very few memories from it. Familiarity and to a lesser extent nostalgia are big factors when it comes to deciding to set aside 150 hours to make an addon set like this mw3 pm collection.

Loved this. Been meaning to ask, if you'd consider making the CoD:Ghosts squad PM's. Everyone always posts the main characters but I think the coolest armors came from Squad's customization options. If this sounds ridiculous sorry, I don't really have any experience or knowledge of how difficult it is to make ripped slider based PM's. :/

@M1dnlght Strong rim highlights are a trademark of the MW games and I have attempted to replicate that look in my models. If those highlights appear utterly blown out, chances are that you're simply playing on a map with very poor lighting. Hammer is difficult to use and most people do not care enough to create correct lighting in their maps, including Valve. Unfortunately, all the css maps and gmod's own flatgrass & construct are examples of this and many gmod map creators have taken after their bad example. Avoid those maps. Maps with appropriate lighting include the maps from Portal, TF2, Left 4 Dead, and gmod fan favorites like the rp_downtown_v4 lineage.

great addon,but by any chance can you make it less shiny? There is some bright lighting around it which ruins it for realism

Short answer: You don't. It is not part of these models. Adding it would have entailed a lot more work for something 0.01% of players would use.
Long answer: 1) Get wraith archon 2) launch mw3 3) start a multiplayer game 4) scan the game with wraith 5) dump the pb_stand_alert animation 6) extract this addon to get my mdls 7) decompile the mdl(s) of the model(s) you want to edit 8) import the model into your 3d package 9) import the pb_stand_alert animation 10) retarget the pb_stand_alert animation to the ValveBiped skeleton (I use human ik which is good enough) 11) export the retargeted animation to some smd/dmx 12) edit the QC you got from decompiling my mdls and add a new $sequence for the retargeted animation (also change the mdl's name) 13) compile the QC 14) put the new model in one of gmod's asset folders 15) launch gmod, start a game, and set change your playermodel 16) use PAC3 or something to play the activity that you bound to the retargeted animation

@MiKi You are probably playing on a (bad) map that wasn't compiled correctly and breaks EyeRefract eyes, or you have a (bad) addon installed which screws with other addons' materials.

@Riggs I have not created npcs before and I don't have the time right now to learn that process, but I would like to eventually give that a try. In the meantime, I think you can use Dr Vrej's npc system to make npcs out of anything.

Yo @TiberiumFusion would it be possible to make these into seperate models that have NPC animations such as citizen - metropolice - combine? Because that would make your addons 10x better, just a suggestion!

I'm really blown away by the "click-through" (so to say) on this addon. As of now, there's been 2762 visitors and 2533 subscriptions, so just under 92% of everyone who clicked there way here decided to subscribe. I guess you all really like the SAS because 92% is insane for a playermodel addon.

@The Monochrome Mentality If/when I release the swep base I have been working on, it will likely include IW5 animations on the ValveBiped. Retargeting is an extremely slow and obnoxious process and I have absolutely no interest in doing that without something warrant it.
