There are, however, a few things you should probably check:
1. Characters can get the same mutation multiple times, they won't receive any bonuses from it though.
2. Some units (not heroes or lords, just some random Chaos Warriors) in AI armies can get the mutation for some reason. They will annihilate your whole units with one cast. Probably shouldn't happen.
Unfortunately the general was a unit of Marauder Champions and my Oracle was incinerated in a split-second, and they proceeded to take turns roasting his corpse in dragonfire until I quit the battle.
It was delightfully unexpected, but probably not something I'd like to experience again.
