But I think this or the Custom Schedules mod will get my pawns to the mineshaft each morning/night.
Now I just need something to automate Gizmo (button) presses, to make the elevator go up/down.

I understand though that making a GUI for this mod, given you handle already 500+ mods is problematic. So I thought of the issue. Have an improved naming convention, so you just need to parse a few strings and have no need for a new GUI.
Example:
Area would be named WorkMlie. This would translate to having a zone to schedule for occupation 'work' for any pawn whose name starts with 'Mlie', so perhaps MlieJoe and MlieGloria, who knows?
This way we have added versatiliy without the need of a new GUI.
Also, might be worth putting all available zone names in the Info box
