Patron Deities

This really needs a way to remove or change a patron saint (for like 20 piety or something), otherwise my heir will already have one, and that's quite annoying.
Tim_the_Texan 13 Jan, 2019 @ 10:50am
In Holy Fury a lot of religions have a list of former character wich are now saints. Any plans to allow characters to choose from those as patron saints? The bonus could be something small like an opinion bonus to characters of that saints blood line. And similarly give characters of that blood line an opinion bonus to characters whith their ansestor as their patron saint.

Does anybody know of any issues other than the Slavic religion needing to be removed? I'm not that up to date with modding so I'm not sure what else might be an issue. What about compatability with latest HIP/EMF?
K.Y Kasmir 2 Apr, 2018 @ 2:35pm
Slavic religion now has 2.
Johnathan Crow  [author] 17 Nov, 2017 @ 2:17pm
@Tumor: I'll get on that when as soon as I can (y)
Tumor 11 Nov, 2017 @ 12:41pm
If you put your mod up on GitHub I can help with compatibility updates and general cleanup. Looking at the source to integrate it into ARR I've noticed some things that could be improved using newer features.

Mostly it'll make the code easier to read and easier to update in the future.
SGDUART 29 Sep, 2017 @ 12:41pm
So is Yazidi a religion itself here?
BatavianJonkheer 10 Sep, 2017 @ 6:41pm
how about muslim? idk some branch like sufi or mutazillas
Johnathan Crow  [author] 23 Aug, 2017 @ 1:45pm
This is about to be updated for vanilla and HIP. What are compatibility issues there with ARR anyway? conversion_decisions.txt and new religions? Feel free to go ahead and incorporate it yourself if you'd prefer.
Tumor 22 Aug, 2017 @ 2:00pm
WtWSMS uses a much older version of ARR, as does CK2+. If you provided the compatability, that would be fine too.
Johnathan Crow  [author] 21 Aug, 2017 @ 5:50pm
Ah, I see. I noticed it seems to have been incorporated into WTWSMS, and Patron Deities is in that mod too, so maybe it was getting included way back already. I'm really out of the loop so I don't know. I definitely have files in there intended for the old Ancient Religions, so I think I was keeping up compatibility for a while. I'll have a good and proper look when I get some issues sorted out.

I don't suppose you know what's changed in CK2 patches that I'd need to update? For some reason, event descriptions aren't working.
Tumor 20 Aug, 2017 @ 5:41pm
Still in active, if slow, development.
Johnathan Crow  [author] 20 Aug, 2017 @ 12:02pm
Oh, and the HIP patches are obviously out of date too. I'll take a look at that if I decide to work on this because I remember considering that mod essential for my own games.
Johnathan Crow  [author] 20 Aug, 2017 @ 11:59am
Half thinking of updating this. I tried it out recently and it seemed to work fine except the event description localisation wasn't working. No idea why, can't see a problem in the files. Might have to hit the modding forums again soon. Also need to root out my notes for what was planned before I dropped CK2. Bah.

@Ulysses: It's an old mod, so maybe the method of achieving that effect has changed.
@Massive Damage: Thanks, I'll think about your recommendations, feel free to suggest more.
@Tumor: I was working on Ancient Religions compatibility a long time ago, what is the status of that mod now?
@viking hoof: Doesn't the workshop version work? I'll try to get it updated soon anyway though.
@coeurdelion: I don't know much about that mechanic, I'll have to look it up, but I don't have all the latest DLC yet.
coeurdelion 21 Oct, 2016 @ 12:48am
Any plans on updating the mod in light of the new patron deity mechanic for defensive pagans? I'm a big fan of this mod, and I'd be interested in seeing it continue to evolve.
TexStarshine 5 Apr, 2016 @ 6:31pm
The Dropbox download is down.
Tumor 23 Mar, 2016 @ 8:23pm
@Johnathan Crow: Would you mind too terribly if I incorporate and expand/modify this mod for Ancient Religions?
MangoCobra 26 Dec, 2015 @ 7:44am
The only 'issue' this mod has, that I can see, is the fact that Saint Augustine of Hippo is a saint for the Orthodox - The Orthodox in real life do not recognise him as a saint, however. They do have Saint Constantine, something Catholics do not. Perhaps you can add Constantine as an Orthodox only saint, and Augustine as a Catholic only saint, when you return to this mod?

Perhaps also you could add Aspects of the Sun for Zunists to dedicate themselves to - Dawn, Noon, Dusk, and Twilight.
Useless 8 Oct, 2015 @ 5:46am
Looks nice. Screens are just old or there is a reason why you set duration to game end date instead of simply going for duration = -1 ?
Imami 26 Aug, 2015 @ 4:17am
hey, could you do muslim patrons aka for Shiites the 12 imams, etc..
MasterOfGrey 8 Jul, 2015 @ 2:29am
Hi there, do you mind if I use the Pagan/Romuva stuff to enhance my own mini-mod? (Obviously full credit would be given.)
mike_daner 20 May, 2015 @ 1:13pm
thanks Johnathan Crow
Blaveskelly 18 Apr, 2015 @ 2:09pm
Ok, I hope you feel inspired again to work on it, as it looks like it has amazing potential.
Johnathan Crow  [author] 18 Apr, 2015 @ 1:29pm
I'm hoping to return to it when I have more time, and the desire to play CK2 again. If you go to the Paradox forums, a few mods there are incorporating it. I'll inquire with those authors as to what needs adjusting for later patches when I can.
Blaveskelly 17 Apr, 2015 @ 10:32am
Is this mod dead?
Johnathan Crow  [author] 4 Apr, 2015 @ 8:07pm
Notepad can open .mod files. In case you're not aware though, the .mod file only contains mod info like the name, tags, mod files location etc.

If you're looking to get into modding, you'll probably want to use Notepadd++.
mike_daner 3 Apr, 2015 @ 1:16pm
what kind of free and easy .mod text editer can I use? I'm not into modding myself so I'm pretty clueless.
Johnathan Crow  [author] 17 Oct, 2014 @ 6:27am
Ah, good. Although I suspect there may be a problem with Norse patrons due to them being renamed Germanic in the new patch.
King of Nova 17 Oct, 2014 @ 2:49am
@Johnathan Crow: It was a mistake on my part :) The mod does work. It was one of my other mods that wasn't working.
Johnathan Crow  [author] 16 Oct, 2014 @ 10:40am
@King of Nova: Can you tell me what happens when you try to run the mod?
Johnathan Crow  [author] 14 Oct, 2014 @ 12:50pm
Not got Charlemagne, and not sure when I will have it. If you have any idea how the DLC is affecting the mod then let me know - maybe it'll speed the process once I do purchase.
King of Nova 14 Oct, 2014 @ 9:38am
The mod no longer works because of the Charlemagne DLC/Patch :) I hope you fix the problem soon. Good mod otherwise
Johnathan Crow  [author] 9 Oct, 2014 @ 8:17am
It doesn't. I guess it's messed up because playing Hellenic characters isn't really supported. There are mods that flesh it out, and I included patrons for use with those.
borbytar 20 Sep, 2014 @ 8:27pm
Does this fix the Hellenic GUI? It's all messed up and annoying.
Kai Mera 15 Aug, 2014 @ 2:52pm
I tend to think more mythologically than historically, so that didn't play a significant part in my considerations.
Tuoni was the Finnish god of death, or, I believe more accurately, the underworld, and was known to be somewhat cruel to trespassers in his realm.
Johnathan Crow  [author] 13 Aug, 2014 @ 4:02am
I see, but still, choosing a patron doesn't give a character a portion of the patrons power; it's more about influencing how they choose to rule, although maybe selecting a bonus might be tricky.
Kai Mera 12 Aug, 2014 @ 3:34pm
I was comparing him to the other Finnish gods on your list. His domain is, in my opinion, significantly more influential than most, simply because it pervades al aspects of nature.
Johnathan Crow  [author] 29 Jul, 2014 @ 2:27am
@Hasoc: Why do you consider Tuoni to be more powerful than other deities? I'm sure a norseman or member of any other religion would emphasise the power of his own deities/figures over Tuoni. Besides, taking a patron influences your rulers but they do not attain supernatural power, so it doesn't matter how powerful the patron is.

I'm interesting in more information on Tuoni though, if you have any sources. Google turns up little.
Kai Mera 27 Jul, 2014 @ 8:58pm
Just looked at your spreadsheet and was immediately struck by your omission of Tuoni, though, after some reflection, realized 'twould have been rather more powerful than the others on the list.
Johnathan Crow  [author] 25 Jul, 2014 @ 5:21am
@Flo (AFK): I've created a little guide that I'll link you to in private message. Friend request pending.
FlyingDoe 24 Jul, 2014 @ 1:43pm
@Jonathan Crow : No I never did it in CK2, so it would be nice :)
Johnathan Crow  [author] 24 Jul, 2014 @ 7:51am
@harden007: Missed your comment. I'm not sure about adding it to the description but here's a link to a copy of the spreadsheet I planned the mod with.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AplRPIuI9jcJdERMTkdaSGJ1QmRRUDZqeERaWjlDU1E&single=true&gid=4&output=html

Note: some effects were altered slightly after planning, but most are correct. Also, some the Christian saints don't have bonuses attached to them, but they do in-game. I'll update these things when I get chance.
Johnathan Crow  [author] 24 Jul, 2014 @ 5:01am
@Flo: Hey, that sounds great. Feel free to start whenever you want, and message me when you're ready. Have you done localisation modding for CK2 before? If not, let me know and I'll guide you through it.
FlyingDoe 21 Jul, 2014 @ 4:08pm
Hi, I really enjoy your mod, and if you ever want, I can translate it in french for you (native speaker) :) Keep up the good work ! :D
Ice_King 6 Jul, 2014 @ 9:33am
Please include a list of dieties I can chose and effects on this info page.
Johnathan Crow  [author] 27 Jun, 2014 @ 5:22pm
If you give it another shot, remember that you need to select the mod in the launcher that appears before running the game.
Widukind "The Law Giver" 27 Jun, 2014 @ 10:00am
Heya guys, decided to unsubscribe due to the fact i've clearly entered a world I'm not ready for. Ttruth be told.... i'm too stupid to do modding and therefore decided to spare you guys the pain of this experience..... i'll keep it at that and best of luck in the future guys!!
Widukind "The Law Giver" 27 Jun, 2014 @ 8:48am
In game,on the "mod" screen
Johnathan Crow  [author] 27 Jun, 2014 @ 8:31am
Where does it say that?
Widukind "The Law Giver" 27 Jun, 2014 @ 8:27am
Hey guys, having trouble, my game says the mod is inactive
