Not that attention is all that important, any map (especially an improvement) is a good map, I just assume that's what you're partially basing your map comparison on. I hope I don't come off as rude, I just wanted to say some thoughts since I've been both putting it off, and you left that comment under my map. Either way, the map really is not bad, you do a good job playing with new ideas, which is what I legitimately feel is the most important part of a map. I wish you good luck with any updates or future maps!
I do notice that the outdoor lighting in some areas is somewhat flat, I recommend copying the light_environment settings from another map, notably gm_construct, and then working off of that instead of working off of the entity's default settings, as I find it makes lighting much less of a hassle to set up; this is how I set up the lighting in most of my maps.
