As for using a killing barrier, it is by design. It is supposed to show you that you only should go through if its not active. Not try to find a way to get past if you're lucky. If I'd use a lightbridge, you would find a way to get past while standing up there and completely be misguided to what the intended solution is.

I just align the cube by that wall above me, let go & the cube bounces off said wall, gets cleaned & lands safely to the other side. Works every time.
BTW, the 2 portalable panels that you can fall through infinitely; do they have a purpose?
Hmm weird that you got a non-blue cube. I did many test runs and it never happened to me. But I added a 2nd blue gel dropper and positioned the stuff so that it should now always paint the cube blue, no matter what. Can you try again?
