the sfo submod is gone.
Thewildone2000 22 Apr, 2022 @ 2:32pm
is there a sfo version of this mod?
Benk 15 Dec, 2021 @ 8:05am
A unit resize submod could be possible ? Heros look like giant compared to theothers from "Total unit Resize." Thanks.
MercerLord913 10 Oct, 2021 @ 9:23pm
hell yes, give us Bertrand the Brigand! He could be like a horde faction (the Bowmen of Bergerac) that roams around bretonnia. You could also make his buddies Hugo le Petit and Gui le Gros legendary heroes and/or followers
Bonsai 9 Oct, 2021 @ 7:39am
@maggartmgm You mean Bertrand the Brigand?
maggartmgm 12 Aug, 2021 @ 3:19pm

Hi ! Thank you for your work, but could we get an update please ? :)
Benk 18 Jul, 2021 @ 6:08am
Great mod, could it work with unit resize ? Because right now he is a giant in my army compared to others lords and the Friar.
maffers  [author] 8 Jul, 2021 @ 10:40am
@Brosheezi Sure, sounds good.
Brosh 8 Jul, 2021 @ 9:54am
@maffers, Hey, I am creating a compatibility mod for Bretonnian: Errantry War, and I would like permission to add Bretonnian Brigands and Bretonnian Friar. The compatibility mod adds some units to the mercenary recruitment mechanic for Bretonnian factions. No unit copying. It just adds units to unit_sets, and adds their recruitment details into a script table. Also the agents would be recruitable from the horde.

Is this SFO oriented or is it ok for Vanilla? Do they break balance too much? I noticed Brettonia can have a serious issue getting out of Peasant armies when the map is randomized for example.
maffers  [author] 27 May, 2021 @ 12:54pm
@Alan When modding units you have to enable the unit to be recruited for each individual faction. I added the units for all of the base game Bretonnian factions, including AI only minor factions. If you are using a mod enables playing as one of the factions that are already in the game, you should be able to recruit the units, but if you're playing as a completely new modded faction then you won't be able to recruit them.
Link 27 May, 2021 @ 3:06am
Okay, I think I found out what the issue is
You can only build these bastards in strategic locations
Paravvon, origo and all the vanilla starting lords start in a settlement with strategic locations
The rest does not @Maffers
Link 26 May, 2021 @ 12:01pm
I tried starting as the lord that has bonus to forest battles, but could not build the chain
Jason Wolf 26 May, 2021 @ 10:37am
The mod seems to work with Mixu's lords. Currently play the Knights of Orgos and I can recruit them.
Link 13 May, 2021 @ 1:31pm
Hey, do you think you could make this work with Mixu's lords? The building chain doesn't show up for anyone else except the vanilla brettonian lords
Regent 9 May, 2021 @ 10:46am
Hello again Maffers! Thank you so much for the mod!

For SFO users submod is up.

Hi ! Could you make the faceless heroes less tall ? With a normal size ? They look like giants near other soldiers.
maffers  [author] 4 May, 2021 @ 11:06am
@Commander Xillian They don't
Shepherd Bemeu 3 May, 2021 @ 10:07pm
Do they cost peasant population? Seems a little funny if they do, you're creating a demand for criminals, so workers are leaving to try and get your letter of marque.
XIAWUDU 3 May, 2021 @ 3:26am
good job!
maffers  [author] 2 May, 2021 @ 7:42pm
@totalwarsuperbeast I did just notice that the new building chain is not buildable in Rapanse's starting region for some reason, but it is buildable in every other region I think. I'll see if I can fix that.
maffers  [author] 2 May, 2021 @ 7:36pm
@totalwarsuperbeast I just checked and its working for me with Repanse. Are you playing Mortal Empires or Vortex? Also you may have another mod that is conflicting with this mod. You could try disabling other mods, especially mods that add or modify Heroes or other units.
totalwarsuperbeast 2 May, 2021 @ 7:00pm
THIS MOD DOES NOT WORK WITH REPANSE JUST SO YOU KNOW.
skinnyman9k 2 May, 2021 @ 12:31pm
Needs to be a way to add the units to "Mixu's Mousillon" so you can recruit them as Mallobaude!
Marvl101 1 May, 2021 @ 4:14pm
I'd love you to make a Bertrand the Brigand legendary lord/faction, like, a bunch of peasant focused bretonnian rogue armies making bandit coves and fighting the nobility!
cybvep 1 May, 2021 @ 3:12pm
@maffers Yeah, but Paladins and Damsels are part of the Bretonnian "core" identity. Faceless are more on the sidelines.
rossco437 1 May, 2021 @ 2:43pm
cool mod, awesome job
maffers  [author] 1 May, 2021 @ 2:31pm
@chog Brigands (including crossbows) were tabletop units in 3rd/4th edition Warhammer. Herrimaults and Faceless are referenced in Knights of the Grail: Guide to Bretonia (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay). The mounted versions were not in the table-top, but I think it makes sense lore-wise that brigands would make use of horses if they could get them.
maffers  [author] 1 May, 2021 @ 2:17pm
@cybvep
1. Both Paladins and Damsels caps are increased by tier 3 buildings so Faceless are only as spammable as the base game heroes are.
2. Caps do sound kind of interesting, I might make a separate version of this mod that adds caps.
frog 1 May, 2021 @ 12:14pm
are these unite loreful?
cybvep 1 May, 2021 @ 3:27am
Food for thought:
1. Consider moving the +1 Faceless capacity to tier 4. It shouldn't be a common, easily spammable hero IMO.
2. I still think that caps would be perfect for the new units (generous for Brigands, low for Herrimaults). It's always fun to make a choice between chivalry and more units unaffected by the Peasants' economy system. Also, Faceless could have mutually exclusive skills giving more caps for the selected unit type. Good for balance as well since Bretonnia has no supply lines. If you think that caps for everything are too much, then maybe just for Herrimaults?
3. It could be interesting if the Brigand Camp increased money gain from sacking and battles in adjacent regions (like some Norscan and WE outposts), but gave small diplomatic penalties with Order factions.

Nice work! Always happy to see the lesser appreciated factions get some well thought out Roster expansions. (Without overdoing it)
Dream Traveler 29 Apr, 2021 @ 5:30pm
Love the unit mods you've been putting out lately for Bretonnia! Will you be working on more in the future? This old mod by Willemsen might have some ideas if you want to look at it:

@Reg Sure
Regent 28 Apr, 2021 @ 9:52pm
Greetings Maffers! I’ll be asking again permission to create a submod for sfo to your mod. :)
Farmed 28 Apr, 2021 @ 3:46pm
This as a horde faction would be fun AF i think
rossco437 28 Apr, 2021 @ 3:10pm
Awesome! I've been waiting for a mod that does an updated version of Darok's faceless mod, thank you and keep up the good work!
Betamax 28 Apr, 2021 @ 1:15pm
@maffers Can you make a version or a submod that makes this compatible with the Dukes of Bretonnia mod? Specifically Bertrand the Brigand.
maffers  [author] 28 Apr, 2021 @ 12:45pm
@Rhalius I was planning on making a combo mod but it takes some time to fix bugs that happen when certain kinds of mods are combined.

The Faceless has 2 different face models each with 2 cloak color variants (green and brown).
maffers  [author] 28 Apr, 2021 @ 12:42pm
@Gosudar Sure, go ahead.
maffers  [author] 28 Apr, 2021 @ 12:42pm
@cybvep I agree with most of these and have updated accordingly
Woizer 28 Apr, 2021 @ 8:05am
Great to see the Faceless there as well
notanimperialist 28 Apr, 2021 @ 7:58am
king, you should make a brigand faction with a faceless lord
2Scribble 28 Apr, 2021 @ 7:52am
Ha! Bertrand The Brigand ^-^
Jomix7 28 Apr, 2021 @ 6:21am
Awesome mod! I hope in the future someone could make a Brigand Horde faction to roam around raiding and pillaging! Great units!
Rhalius 28 Apr, 2021 @ 4:51am
I like the idea of the faceless, will you maybe do a pack later with just heroes, combining it with the friar and maybe more new heroes?

I feel like with the friar and faceless, you might have the start of a little fellowship of heroes there.
Does the faceless have appearance variations? The more the better.

Gosudar 28 Apr, 2021 @ 2:39am
Hi, can I, with your permission, translate this mod into Russian?
Norwegian Forest Cat 28 Apr, 2021 @ 2:10am
Really good idea !! Adds flavor to bretonnia !!
cybvep 27 Apr, 2021 @ 11:57pm
More suggestions for consideration after testing:
1. No peasant cap for Brigands. That's the thing - they are outlaws, they are not working the farms. They should have separate TK-style caps instead which can be increased by building more camps.
2. All Brigands should have the expendable attribute. Nobody cares if they die besides themselves.
3. Brigand camp should decrease chivalry like the brothel.
4. No Paladin voiceovers for the Faceless if possible. It's better if they don't speak at all.
5. Faceless should gain Woodsman and lose Encourage.
6. Faceless should gain sth like +4/5 speed, ATM they are not faster than Paladin on foot. LP from 70 to 65 because Paladin have 65.
